Regular readers know that our Labrador retriever mix Luke loves his fruits and vegetables! We’ve written many posts on the subject. He’s been seen here eating apples, carrots, green beans, and even radishes. One thing I had never tried giving him was tomatoes. When I wrote my post back in the summer “Gardening with Dogs – Is Your Yard and Garden Safe?“, I mentioned that the leaves of tomato plants are toxic to dogs (green tomatoes might be too), but red tomatoes are fine. One of our readers and blog friends, JoAnn at Sand Spring Chesapeakes, told us in the comments that her dogs stole cherry tomatoes right off the plants to eat them, but never touched the leaves.
When I was preparing a salad the other night with our late summer cherry tomatoes I thought of that, and decided to see if Luke would like the tomato or not. His reaction surprised me a bit! Make your guess and then watch the video to find out the answer. Be sure to watch the whole video, because it contains clips from two different nights.
Be honest and tell us in the comments whether you guessed right or not. Have a fun Friday and a great weekend!
