The other day Luke found a very special treat in the yard. A squirrel must have dropped an apple from a tree. We have an apple tree just outside of the dog yard that sometimes drops apples in the yard, but I haven’t seen any apples on that tree this year. When Luke finds something special, he runs and romps around the yard with sheer abandon. I wasn’t quick enough to get the camera to capture that, but he soon settled down to eat his treasure. (I took it away first and cut off a rotten part, and took the core and seeds out since the seeds can be poisonous to dogs).
Sheba soon caught on that Luke had something special, and she wanted it!
Poor Sheba! Don’t worry….hopefully we’ll be going apple picking next weekend, and then there will be apples for everyone!

they always want something the other one has but only if they have it, if not they could careless.
It’s so true. We see it with the ball playing all the time…. Cricket rules which ball is in play, and anything else just gets tossed aside.
The squirrels do the same thing here only they bring really odd things which the dogs never get. Lucky Luke and poor Sheba.
We have enough trouble with Luke picking up anything and everything, so I hope our squirrels stick to apples! 🙂
😀 Yeah, right. I don’t believe you were thinking about it at all, Luke. I wouldn’t have wanted to share such a tasty treat either.
You’re the only one that saw through Luke’s little ruse, Dawn! LOL
Well Sheba did try, maybe next time. I think Laika would go crazy if she found an apple; the only thing we usually see around here are Pears that are already rotten. We need some nice squirrels like yours that drop real treasures around here.
Luke was certainly pretty excited about it! This one was kind of half eaten/rotten, but once I cut the bad part off of it, it was great. Luke’s keeping an eye out for any more incoming!
Poor Sheba. Maybe next time Luke will feel like sharing.
And I love the size of your doggy pool.
Isn’t that pool awesome? We got lucky that friends found it in someone’s yard for us.
Luke did actually share an apple with Sheba tonite!
Luke is getting very cocky not sharing with Sheba. She is still bigger! BOL! ☺ We would love an apple tree!
He’s getting pretty darn close though, and weight-wise, I think he just surpassed her by a pound or so. And doesn’t he know it! 🙂
We have 3 apple trees on the property, but we don’t really care for them, so don’t really get edible apples (for the humans anyway).
Absolutely, finders keeper. You’ll just have to spend more time in the yard Sheba so the squirrel drops one for you!
She’s been spending a lot of time outside lately….I think she might be waiting. 🙂
Too cute. Poor Sheba. For as sweet and loving as dogs are, sharing is not their strong suit, eh?
Yeah….they do pretty good most of the time though. Now, if Cricket had been involved, it would have been different. Beagles say “what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine” LOL.
Sharing is hard. I don’t blame him!
They share a lot, so every once in a while they should get to keep something all for themselves, right?
Yum I love apples! Just be careful not to eat the seeds! They are poisonous! Barks and licks and love, Dakota
That’s what we’ve heard, so the Momz takes them away to cut out the seeds. Even Dad did today though he didn’t believe it! I’m pretty sure our lab mix Maggie used to eat whole apples, before we knew better. Thank goodness they never bothered her….maybe she was smart enough to spit out the seeds!
Bailie is always picking up fallen apples on our walks, but Mom makes her drop them since we don’t know if they are good enough to eat or not. Glad Luke enjoyed his.
This one didn’t look so great, so I took it away to inspect it, and it looked good on one side. Luke keeps grabbing them in the driveway, and they’re not always that great so we also have to take them away.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA! That would so be my two Aussies! And my little guy would be jumping between the two before taking off with the apple.
If our little Cricket hadn’t been so distracted with playing ball, she probably would have done just that!
Awe poor Sheba
Luke found another apple today, and this time he shared with Sheba (well, my hubby made him share…LOL).
Treats that we find taste better than treats that are just given to us.

LOL!! I totally believe this!
Haha aww poor Sheba!
You would have thought he’d give in with all that barking she was doing!! LOL
Timing is everything. Good for Luke!
That’s right….Luke has a good eye for finding things!
BOL Luke!!!!! Poor Sheba! I know you’ll make it up to her though 🙂
Hope you guys had a great weekend!!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
We did, hope you did too!
They share most of the time, but sometimes you just gotta have something of your own, right? 🙂
We wouldn’t have shared either Luke! We’re with you buddy! And what a great treat to have an apple tree in your yard! Too awesome!
Thanks for the support! Sheba can find her own, right? BOL!
Love, Luke
As we say in our house, “snooze ya lose”! BOL! What a great treat, maybe the tree rats will drop one for Sheba?!
Yup, you have to be on top of things when there’s competition! It’s funny that we don’t see the tree rats in the yard very often….they tend to stay out of the dog’s area. This one must have been just passing through. 🙂
apples aren’t for sharing, huh? not even with a golden girl :o) I hope your tree has a lot of apples this year :o)
Since that was the only apple at the time, it had to be hoarded! That tree by the dog pen doesn’t seem to have any apples on it this year, but we have another one that does in another part of the yard.
Poor Sheba! You look like you really wanted that treat. I love to run around with all my goodies like a crazed hyena. It makes me feel like I accomplished something amazing. 😉 Looks like a lot of fun, and like you are getting into some mischief! Awesome! Enjoy your Monday!
-Sadie
They were definitely having some fun, even if poor Sheba never did get to try the apple! Thanks for coming by, Sadie!
When my huskies find something it starts up a chase and when they catch the other dog it’s battle on.
We get some of that too, but Sheba sometimes just likes to run her mouth….LOL!
What a treat..and glad you took the seeds out 🙂 funny when they find something delicious lying around…really gets them all excited..more so than being handed a treat i think haaaah 🙂 hus and loves Fozziemum xxx
I think you’re right, Bev! There is just something special about finding it themselves I guess. Of course, most of the time when Luke finds something, it’s not something I want him to have! 🙂
