Hello! Thanks for coming by my website! My name is Jan Keefe and I live in New Hampshire. I am a full-time business owner (former bookkeeper) as well as part-time blogger and farmer. I have loved animals my whole life and that led to writing my first blog “Wag ‘n Woof Pets”, the archives of which can be found here on the website. My husband and I had many cats and dogs, and currently have 1 dog – a Lab mix – and a flock of 29 chickens and guinea hens. I’ve gone from writing about life with pets to writing about life on our small farm, and all we’ve learned in the process.
When I lost my bookkeeping job of over 20 years, I struggled with what to do next. I enjoyed being home on the farm, but it’s more of a hobby farm for us, and even though I made and sold my own products with the farm label, it just didn’t produce enough income. For years and years I had wanted to own my own shop, and I knew it was now or never. With no money to spare in the bank, I needed to find a business model that could be affordable and not too risky. Thus I decided to open a shop where other crafters and collectors could sell their products too. By renting booth space, I could cover my own rent, and keep start-up expenses more reasonable. I also accept consignments in the shop and along with my own products and some retail items, I’ve found a way to make it work (even in the middle of a pandemic!).
A Farm Girl’s Finds – Handcrafters’ & Vintage Market, is a gift shop, vintage shop, and crafters’ and artisans’ shop, as well as a dream come true for me! I believe in shopping locally and in all-natural, eco-friendly, and organic products. I’d rather see people buying gently-used items than buying more products made in China. I am happy to provide a space for talented local people to also be able to sell their wares indoors and year-round.
I also enjoy reading, gardening, walking, and just being outdoors; though I don’t have as much time for those pursuits since opening the shop! I take joy in spending time with family and friends, and I am a homebody at heart.

Hi Jan! You left some nice comments on my blog last week, Wanted to say thanks! I just figured out how to add blogger friends on a list on the side of my blog, so I added you. Love reading your blog! Keep in touch!
Hi Yoda (& Roberta!),
You are welcome! And thank you for adding me to your blog list! I hope to spend more time reading yours too, and will also add it to my list….I’m in the process of actually making a separate page for that because I have a lot of blogs that I follow. The pet blogging community is really great, and I love that we support each other a lot.
Hi Jan,
My 1st. Experience on a blog. Not sure what yo expect. Good luck with it.
Keep me posted.
Hi Suzette!
Thanks for stopping by! I wasn’t really sure what a blog was all about, until I started this. Thanks, take a look around and see what you think!
Our golden looks a lot like your golden on the left of your sofa. She is 6 years old and just had her ACL repaired. It was a successful surgery….but it’s not the same knee as before. She doesn’t ever complain, but you can tell she is hurting after a day of play. We love her and hope she stays with us for a long time. Her name is Sarah Keefe.
PS: You are a very good writer Jan!
Thank you, Judy! Sorry to hear that Sarah had to have that surgery, but glad it was successful. I think Sarah was fairly new to your household when we visited you a few years ago. She was very sweet, and I remember that she was very dark like our Moses is, and beautiful!
A blog is a journey, a collective conversation, a rage against the world in all its inequities and a song of joy for its triumphs. A blog is a wonderful venue for sharing information, provoking debate and a re-telling of joke or story familiar to many of us.Thanks for sharing yours-keep it up!
Jan
Im not sure about this or what is a blog? Is this a place to brag about your pets?
Come back again and see what it’s all about, Rusty! There may be some bragging about my pets, but that won’t be the only thing! 🙂
