Last year Cricket was lamenting not having her pool on May 23rd, and then on May 26th it finally opened. We’ve had some warm days lately – even up to 80 degrees – and I was thinking it was feeling like time for the pool already! I was surprised when looking back to see it was not until the end of May that we got the pool out last year.
80’s is unusually warm for April, that’s for sure, so who knows when we might actually get the pool out this year. We are looking forward to lots of action when we do though. In the meantime, enjoy these photos from our opening days last year.
Of course, it will not be quite the same without the whole trio of pool lovers. Cricket and Luke are managing without their sister Sheba and I guess they will figure it out. It probably bothers me more than it does them.

My other concern is how Cricket will do with jumping in and out of the pool. She’s been so much better as far as her arthritis lately and I want to be sure that continues. I wonder if some kind of step there might at least make it easier for her to get out? Though she never goes in the same way twice, so it would probably have to be a deck all the way around. We’ll have some time to consider that I’m sure, because those warm days will probably be few and far between for a while, but stay tuned for new fun coming soon!
Have you entered our giveaway for the Solvit Deluxe Car Safety Harness? You have until tomorrow so click here for the details, and enter to win if you haven’t already!
Maybe a little ramp for Cricket? Of course she probably would not use it.
That might be something easy to try though, and see what happens. Chances are she wouldn’t, but you never know!
My gang has been swimming for a bit now. No pool thou.
Jaxson is looking at me like that about the beach. As the weather is getting considerably warmer each and every day, we’ve got to take a day and hit those waves.
I hope you’re having some nice beach weather down there, since we’ll be down there soon! 🙂
I’ve been having a hard time getting to read blog posts lately or I’d have noticed the switch to the new tagline etcetera. It looks GRRRRRREAT!!!!
Seeing Sheba in the pix almost got my tears started…I can just imagine how you must feel. I still choke up sometimes when I look at pix of Callie and it’s more than 20 months.
Thank you for noticing the new look, Sue!
It’s still tough for me to see photos of Sheba too, I was just looking through some old ones from last April when we still just had a small pen for them to play in. She looked so happy playing, even in that small space! I miss her so much. 🙁
Splish! Splash! More fun than a bath! Have a happy summer at the pool!
I know I am the least observant person, so when did you actually add your new logo and tagline and all, Jan?? I just noticed tonight! I tried to look back, but it seems like it changes the “history” pages too, those show now with your new look, which I wasn’t sure it would do. Anyway, it looks Super nice, great job!
Well, Lynn, you are more observant than you think, because the change was just made yesterday! And you’re the only one that has noticed or commented that they noticed so far!
Thank you!!
I only break out the pool on really hot days and you’d think with a Labrador he would like using it, but he will only dip his feet in and drink out of it.
You would think….but that is mostly what Luke does too (also a Lab mix). Our golden retriever was the same way. The beagle is the only one that takes full advantage and lays right down in it to cool off!
During the summer, Cricket plays ball EVERY day, so we have the pool out all the time (though we don’t necessarily fill it every day….not if it’s raining anyway).
That does look like lots of fun…except for all that water!
Won’t be long now before they can be in the pool every day!
Oh no way did with think it was pool weather yet! Mom’s hoping the public schools close early on June 1 for lack of money so they’ll open her pool early! So selfish! I’m sure Cricket and Luke will work things out and realize that there’s more room for the both of them. Love Dolly
We have had some really warm days. In fact, today, Cricket cut her ball playing short, I think because she was too hot!
Madison has yet to experience the pool. She met the hose the other day and really found it fascinating!
Luke loves the hose too. Madison is probably going to love the pool!
I wish the boys would enjoy a swimming pool. Maybe if it gets hot enough this summer we will try to encourage them.
Especially where you are, it would be nice for them to cool off. We could never get our beagle Kobi to go in it though.
Maybe you should try putting just a small amount of water in there to start, and float some treats in it. Or in Pierre’s case, maybe send a squirrel for a swim first. LOL
Fill up that pool baby!
Lily & Edward
I just saw the weatherman cheerfully saying we will have 80 degree weather this weekend. I think I screamed, “NO!” at him. It’s too early, I don’t want those days until late May, early June. 🙂
Our guys aren’t into the pool like yours are, so we rarely break that out. I’m looking forward to your pictures and adventures.
I know, I’m not ready for the hot weather either, and we’ve had a couple of 80 degree days already.
Today Cricket was pretty hot playing ball (though it was only 70’s, but you know how hard she plays!), but it’s supposed to cool down again tomorrow and for the next week. So it will probably be a while before we get the pool out.
Awwww, pool days. Not even kinda warm enough here. These two would look at me like I was crazy anyway.
Lol
Looking forward to seeing some summertime fun in the pool!
It’s always a blast from to see pups enjoying a water feature. Sam avoids water like the plague, even on hot days. Here’s to happy days by the pool, with a lovely ‘paw-garita’ close by.
Now that sounds good! Our beagle Kobi would have nothing to do with the water either. It’s so funny that Cricket is the total opposite.
I always thought poodles usually liked water too?
Normal poodles do, I have a ‘sub’ standard! BOL!!
