Welcome to the Tuesday’s Tails Blog hop, hosted by Dogs N Pawz! “This blog hop features shelter animals. Find a cat, dog, rabbit or other animal at a local shelter or rescue and feature them on this blog hop! Come join the fun and help a furry friend find a forever home. And while you’re at it, don’t forget to visit the other blogs and share their animals that need forever homes on your social media sites. Please spread the word!”
First of all, I would like to share the good news that two more of the dogs I previously shared have been adopted! Hester, a beagle mix who I shared way back in July in my first Tuesday’s Tails post, is a senior girl, so it’s especially wonderful to know that she has now found her home. Hefty is an Anatolian Shepherd who I shared in August, and he is also now in a home! However, Hallie, a female Lab mix who I shared in December is still available. She is the only one of the 10 I have shared so far that has yet to find her home.
Today I’m doing something a little different. I received an email from Best Friends Animal Society in Utah. They are having a new year adoption special “Resolution #1: Get more exercise. Solution: Adopt a buddy.” Whether you are looking for an exercise buddy, or just a new best friend to hang out with, they may have a dog or cat for you. Their adoption fees are cut by 50% through February 9th, and they are providing free flights home to the first five dogs and first five cats who are joining families in other parts of the country. Best Friends will help arrange transport anywhere in the US and also to Canada (to major airports only).
I am sharing four of their featured adoptable pets with the information they provided.

“Poncho is one of the first dogs to trot over and welcome visitors. Half-prance, half-wiggle, if his funny swagger doesn’t make you giggle, his big goofy grin will. He adores attention and petting and will lean his big body into you for more. When he’s not enticing someone into petting him or playing with his roommates, he can be found digging a hole to lie in while soaking up some rays. Poncho came to Best Friends from a shelter in New Mexico. Born in 2007, much about his life is a mystery. But he seems to take everything in a stride. Whether going for a walk or taking a nap with you, Poncho really wants to be someone’s sidekick.”
**UPDATE 3-4-14: PONCHO HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!**

“Is that really Kyra? She was rescued from one of the worst cases of neglect you’re likely to see. Hundreds of cats were hot, sick and hungry at a Pahrump, Nevada rescue group that had fallen apart. These cats were scared and distrustful when they were found. Including Kyra. But today, Kyra is a purr-bucket! All she wants is to be petted, loved, and to show off her deep, rich, million-dollar purr. She can at times get over stimulated with petting and will give you a little nip. Kyra is a health girl, born in just 2005. She’s great with other cats. She’s really overcome her past and turned herself into a warm, sociable gal.”

“Brinkley is a charming boy with a big smile! Anyone approaching him will see his facial expressions, but new people will want to give him a second to get comfortable. He will circle once or twice then cautiously approach. He will go right up to old friends, but even after he says hi, he may not stick around. Brinkley isn’t the clingy type. He loves his toys and parades them around in his mouth. His favorites are balls and stuffed animals. He is very active and would love to go hiking, running and walking. Born in 2009, Brinkley spent three months in an animal shelter before coming to Best Friends. It seems like it’s been a while since he’s been in a home; he’s only partially house-trained. But he’s fully healthy, so it’s likely that he’s just forgotten what it’s like to live in a home. He would love for you to remind him.” **UPDATE – BRINKLEY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!**
- Fedora
“Believes in PDAs. Friendly Fedora isn’t shy about showing her affection! This snuggly cat loves to climb into laps and give head butts. She also adores sleeping in bed with people. In her free time, she enjoys drinking water directly from the faucet, indulging in catnip and making good use of cardboard scratchers. Born in 2005, she’s in good health. Fedora is fantastic with other felines, too. This exceptionally nice cat lost her home when her person was evicted. Could you give fabulous Fedora the chance to be part of your family?”
**UPDATE – FEDORA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!
If you don’t see the pet you were looking for here, you can visit their adoption promotion page for many more dogs and cats, or their full list of sanctuary animals of all kinds! If you are not looking for a pet at this time, please share with others who might be.
Best Friends Animal Society runs the nation’s largest animal sanctuary and has been a leader in the no kill movement for over 30 years. They house around 1700 animals in their Utah sanctuary, and their work spreads all across the country through their No More Homeless Pets Network. Their mission is to “Save Them All” and they believe they can achieve that goal through their vision of “a better world through kindness to animals.”
Good news on the adoptions and hopefully the dogs and kitties featured today find good homes. I like that they cut their fees to help place the animals.
I think Best Friends runs a lot of promotions like that, often offering free transportation, and it must work for them since they continue to do it.
All very cute critters! Good luck to them on finding good homes.
They are such cuties, aren’t they? There was another cute cat on there I was going to share, but it turned out his adoption was already pending, so that was great!

I hope so too. Thank you for sharing!
We so hope all these beautiful babies find forever loving homes xxxxx

Love Best Friends and their new adoption promotion. Sharing these cuties.
I think they do such great things there. Thank you for sharing!
They are all adorable and that’s awesome about the animals you have featured! Sharing!
We need the good news, don’t we? Since I hadn’t done a post for a while, I hadn’t checked on them for a bit, so it was a pleasant surprise to find that two more were now in homes!
Hope you have a hundred percent success rate at getting new homes for these guys.
Gosh, I hope so too! Wouldn’t that be great? I don’t know if my sharing has helped in any way, but you just never know.
Hooray for the adoptions! I sure hope these sweeties get their happy forever homes really soon! I will share.
We love the good news! Thank you for sharing, Brian.
Congrats to Heaster on being adopted! That’s such great news!
I wish you all the best of luck!

“Love is being owned by a husky”
Every time I checked on Hester I was so disappointed she hadn’t been adopted yet. She was at least in a foster home, not a shelter, but still….I was so glad she finally found her home. If we weren’t so full of seniors already I would have adopted her!
Hugz to all of you!
