October is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month. Of course, we believe every month and day is a time to adopt a shelter dog! However, it’s always good to have a time that increases awareness.
Updates on previous Tuesday Tail’s: Meshach, an English setter mix we shared last month, has been adopted!
Still looking for homes are cats Kyra and Noreena, and dogs Sasha (Tsunami) and Mocha. Hopefully we will have good news on these four soon as well!
**UPDATE: ALLIE AND LADY ARE NO LONGER LISTED, that should mean they are in their new homes now!!**
Today I am sharing two sisters from my local humane society Upper Valley Humane Society. UVHS was founded in 1959. I remember the days when they were located in Plainfield, New Hampshire. They are now located in Enfield, New Hampshire (since 1990) and this is where we adopted our very first dog, Shelby (seen in the above photo), and our cat Conrad.
Their mission is to “compassionately connect people and pets“, which they strive to do by using positive reinforcement training with the dogs in their care, and through many different community programs. They provide a behavior helpline for anyone that needs help with problem pet behaviors, and a unique Barn Cat Program.
Allie and Lady are two sisters who need to be adopted together. They are over 3 1/2 years old, and medium size. Lady, listed as an Australian cattle dog/blue heeler mix, weighs 43 pounds. Allie, listed as a shepherd mix, weighs 56. Both of these girls are current on their shots, and have done well with other dogs and cats. They are affectionate dogs who would love to climb up on your lap!
Let’s share and see if we can find these two adorable girls a happy home together. You can find their Petfinder pages by clicking on their names here: Allie and Lady.
Good luck to them. It must be hard to find homes when it is two dogs.
I’m sure it is. But I remember sharing a pair of siblings one other time, and they got adopted…..so hopefully it works out for these two as well.
Aren’t they cute, I hope they go to the same home.
We hope so too!
I hope they find a new home very soon! Shared them.
Thank you for sharing, Beth!
Allie & Lady are beautiful; I know it can be harder to find a home for a pair so I’m wishing them the best of luck. Since they’re not too big I bet the right family will come along soon looking for a nice pair of cuddle bugs 🙂 Wishing them the best, sharing.
Thank you for sharing, Jen. I agree that their size might help them to find a home together. Who knows, someone thinking about adopting one dog might decide on two (we’ve actually done that twice ourselves, once with dogs and once with cats!).
They are both beautiful, sharing.
Sheba.
Thank you, Sheba!
Awwwwe….they are precious! I hope they find a home soon. Sharing.
Thanks for sharing and hoping!
What a great picture of Shelby. Sharing in hopes that Allie and Lady find a home together soon.
Thank you, Mark. Shelby really loved to hike!
Thanks for sharing these two as well.
Paws crossed they all find homes! Love Dolly
Thanks, Dolly!

Thank you for sharing, Sue, fingers crossed for them.
I really hope they find a home together soon. They have the sweetest faces.
We sure hope so too. Surely someone won’t be able to resist those faces!
Oh my, they are cute, cute, cute! We sure will share.
