**UPDATE – HEFTY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!**
Today I am featuring a very handsome Anatolian Shepherd named Hefty. I’m not sure if Hefty got his name because of his size, but males of his breed are typically over 100 pounds, and known to be muscular, strong, and sturdy. The Anatolian Shepherd is a working guard dog, bred to protect livestock. They are known to be devoted, protective, and loyal pets, but also laid back and easygoing. You can read more about the breed here.
Hefty is a year and a half old, and is a playful ball of energy. He is a curious explorer and up for walking, hiking, or whatever activity you would enjoy. He is housebroken, crate trained, and knows some basic commands. He loves other dogs but would be better in a home with children over 16, and without cats. However, he would do great with a canine sibling to play with.
Hefty is currently at the Manchester (New Hampshire) Animal Shelter.
Other details about Hefty:
- Neutered
- Up to date with routine shots
- He wants to learn, would do great with obedience classes.
A bit about Manchester Animal Shelter: Founded in 1996, they are a non-profit, no-kill shelter rescuing stray and abandoned animals off the streets of Manchester, NH. In 15 years they have helped over 15,000 animals. They have a low cost spay/neuter program and a special program just for Pit Bulls, called Fix-A-Pit.
