In Part VI, you met our cat Bones. My soon-to-be husband and I have moved into a new apartment in my home town in Massachusetts. We still have not gotten Miss Bones spayed, so here comes litter #2:
- Grandma Ragu with Bones and the kittens
Two of the kittens go on to live with family members. My sister and my niece were both visiting for dress fittings for my wedding, and Zachary and Baby went home with them.
I think that is Zachary in the middle, and one of the others is Baby.

I think one or both of these is Zachary. My sister says that Zachary was one of, if not the most, people friendly cats she has ever had. I also remember Zach as being very sweet and friendly, he would always greet us when we visited.
Zach growing up. Zach lived to be almost 20 years old! He died just a few days short of his 20th birthday. Amazing! There were some great genes in these cats.
OK, this is the 3rd and final litter! Yes, we did finally smarten up and get Bones spayed! As I’ve said before, we always found homes for our kittens. From this litter, we will keep one, one will go to a friend, and another one will go to another family member.
Our older cat Concha with one the kittens!
This is either Ginger, who went on to live with one of my husband’s brothers and his family; or it is Mishu who went on to live with my friend Joan.
Mishu all grown up. Joan and I didn’t see each other alot after I moved from Mass., but every Christmas she would send me a photo of Mishu. Both Mishu and Ginger grew up to look so much like their Momma.
This is little Don Juan who stayed with us (on the right in the second photo). He was given this name because he was such a lover. Gosh, all these kitten photos have made me really miss having those little ones in the house. Perhaps one day we could foster a mother cat and her kittens!
Donnie grows up to be such a beautiful cat, and also gets that friendly personality. He was so easy going. No matter what other animals we brought into the household, he adapted instantly and just loved everyone. This last photo for this post is of Don and our son Tom Jr., taken Christmas 1989. This will be our last Christmas in Massachusetts. Sadly, the other cats you met in Part VI, Ragu and Blackie, were both hit by cars and didn’t make it. On my husband and I go to NH, where my family all is, and Concha, Bones, and Don Juan all go with us.

Aww such cute pictures! I love looking at my old pictures of pets. When I was a kid, I had a gray kitty who also had 3 litters of kittens. All born in a closet drawer in my bedroom. Thanks for stopping by today and donating – hope to work on your valentines soon!
I remember how easy it was for cats to give birth….they just found that quiet place and next thing you knew, there they were!
I love my Valentines!
This makes me want to go back and visit all our kitties from time long-ago. Cute!
Once I got looking back at photos, I realized we had more kitties than I remembered having!
I LOVE the new header shot!!! That kitty-mama looks exhausted! But what fun a bunch of kittens is (for a while, anyway!) 🙂
Yes, poor Miss Bones did get pretty worn out with all those babies! And I imagine we did too! Kittens can really be little terrors, that’s why God made them so cute I think! 🙂
Of course I love this one. So neat seeing those pictures of Zach when he was a baby. We do miss him and he was absolutely a lovable cat. He definitely liked people better than any of the “siblings” we gave him. He did love Geronimo, but after he was gone, Zach never formed a bond with any of our other pets, but he loved his human aunts and sheryl’s son alex.
Oh yes, K, I remember now…the one way that Don and Zach were opposites was that Don loved all animals, but Zach never did take to any new ones, did he? But he was such a people lover. Both sweet boys in their own ways.
