Luke is! (again)
I find it so much fun to have such a trainable dog. As long as his fears aren’t involved, Luke learns things so quickly, and then he does not forget.
Any guesses as to what he’s waiting for here (answer below)?
After a little excited jumping up and down, Luke will almost always sit to wait for his meals (sometimes he needs a reminder). The paw comes up just about every time too – it’s so cute!
That’s our good boy!
Do your dogs sit to wait for their dinner? (Our girls do not – only Luke does!)

Good job Luke. Guilty and preacher will sit for food. The others not so much
Cricket doesn’t believe in working for anything – LOL!
Harley will sit and watch me while I prepare the food. Jaxson lays not too far. Depending on what they’re having for that particular meal – sometimes there’s excitement but they’re really good and patient.
Cricket likes to observe, so she just stands close by. Sheba and Luke have a whole little routine leading up to him finally sitting – I’ll have to try to catch it on video sometime, it’s really pretty funny!
BTW….they love that Honest Kitchen food – thanks so much for that code!
Such a good boy!
We used to have English Setters, and they pointed just like this! Love!
The paw lift is adorable!! As for sitting for their meals? Well, Ducky does. Callie and Shadow did when they were young, but as they aged and their arthritis bothered them more – Callie especially – I stopped asking them to do so. Shadow probably would if I asked her to, but her mealtime manners are impeccable so I don’t even think about it any more. Unless of course I have Ducky on my brain as I’m picking up the bowl off the counter. ????
We never trained the girls to sit for their meals, but always for treats. Now we don’t make them sit for treats anymore either, because of the arthritis.
Love the paw lift! So cute! And what a good boy, indeed!
Rita has to be called repeatedly to come get her breakfast/dinner. She’s so odd.
I think they can be more like that when they are an only dog….no competition. We used to free feed our first dog who was an only dog, and she never overate. I couldn’t even imagine that with this crew (of course having beagles puts a change to all that anyway – no food would go uneaten immediately with them around!).
Cute! My pups both sit and calm down before meals. Sometimes Arliss is slow to sit and Lily will nudge him with her nose.
Luke prances around ahead of time, and Sheba barks at him…I think she’s trying to tell him to settle down already!
So Sweet! All my guys do offer a sit for their meals and Walter has to wait until I give him the ok command since he has some focus issues!
Merlin waits, he sits and lifts a paw, then waits for the word to go ahead and eat. While waiting for the food to be prepared he spins. For a lab it’s a feat to wait for food lol.
That’s for sure! Luke does some dancing and prancing around while it the food is being prepared, but then he’ll sit when he knows it’s on it’s way. I’m not sure how long he would actually sit there before getting impatient – so we don’t make him wait (he waits long enough through prep time!) 🙂
Good going, Luke! That should score you some extra treats.
Haha! He’s such a good boy. I wish my black lab was half as trainable.
He can’t resist food for the life of him! 🙂

Way to go Luke, four on the floor if you want your din din.
Both of mine wait, they are discriminating poodles after all. Sam has become far more enthusiastic about meal times, probably because Elsa started to eat his after finishing hers! BOL Now he makes sure it’s consumed. ????
Bentley waits for his meals but Pierre paces and barks with excitement.
Luke actually does romp around at first, and then Sheba barks at him as if telling him to behave! But then he’ll always do his sit before he actually gets served.
yes Luke does… he IS A GOOOOOOD boy :o)
You are a sweetie guy Luke!
Good job Luke! We conveniently forget a few things
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
I love when pups hold their paws up like that! Barley downs for her dinner (when I’m not handfeeding with Rye). Rye is supposed to, but we haven’t quite mastered that yet because she will just walk away to find a toy if I make her wait too long.
If I’m in the other room when my hubby is dishing out the food, Luke will come running to me, as if he’s so excited he wants me to know it’s their supper time! He doesn’t stay seated the whole time, but we make sure he is always sitting when it’s time for him to get his bowl.
Oh he waits sooo politely!! Cody does the paw lift thing and sometimes Dakota will too! I think it’s funnier when Cody does it since he is a cat!
That is definitely funnier, and Cody must look so cute!
Amazingly, Bailie our food nut does lie down and wait patiently for her food. I do too, but little Madison runs short on the patience and practically does back flips while waiting and if it is too long, she will howl too. I think she will get better as she gets older.
Oh my gosh, howling, that must be too cute! Kobi used to always bark at supper time. He was like a dinner bell for the rest of the dogs!
