Remember in our recent post about the West Paw Rowdies when I shared a photo of Luke looking precocious because he had just stolen one of the toys from Cricket that I had given her? I didn’t really think that Cricket cared; she doesn’t usually get excited about new toys. Her favorites are usually the old dirty ones missing half their stuffing. Therefore, when I set up for our more recent post about the West Paw Christmas toys, I automatically chose Luke, our better model (he’s more apt to stay still) for the first photos. Cricket kind of sniffed around us a bit, but when she realized that there were no treats involved in this one, she seemed to lose interest; or so I thought.

We were in the middle of photos of Luke playing with the Boogie toy when the Dadz got home from work early. Luke immediately ran to greet him, but Cricket apparently had other things on her mind, because when he turned back around, he saw this:

She had just been biding her time, waiting for her opportunity to jump in there and steal that toy!

I guess Luke is not the only opportunist around here!

That is funny. I loved the look on Luke’s face…
Delilah is sly like Cricket. If Sampson has a toy, sometimes she will bark and run to the window, and when he gets up to investigate….Delilah will steal his toy. Of course, she can usually just take it away from him, but when he’s lying on top of it, she knows how to get him to move.
That Delilah is a smart one! Luke uses that same ploy when I’m eating lunch….bark at the window to try and get me to go look! Isn’t it funny just how smart they can be?!
Way to go Cricket, you tell em.
Ha! Way to go Cricket 🙂 Interactions in multi-dog households are always fun to observe. So glad that Luke is a good boy who shares. Cricket is a doll. Years ago, we fostered a senior Beagle until she found her forever home. I always smile when I recall Rosie “discovering” the dog toy box and the joy that unsued. We had 3 other dogs at the time, so there were quite a few toys there. Kiss Cricket for me please.
I sure did, and she sends kisses right back to you!
Cricket is actually the total opposite of our late beagle, Kobi, who had no interest in toys at all once he got past the age of 3 or 4. He was a total couch potato too, and certainly didn’t have the energy level that Cricket does.
She and Luke have their moments, but mostly Luke seems to back down to his older sister, which I think is so sweet.
Nicely played, Cricket! Nicely played!
Why, thank you! Love, Cricket
Way to go, Cricket! You are wise and patient. I love your technique!
The Momz says I’m never patient, but I am when I need to be! 🙂
Love, Cricket
That was a good move, Cricket!
Thank you!! ♥
I love Luke and his expression is priceless but I am SO PROUD of Cricket! LOL!
We have to root for those senior girls, don’t we? 🙂
Bailie and Madison are always stealing their toys from each other too!
I guess it’s all part of the game! 🙂
Our two dogs will go back and forth steeling a toy from each other. As soon as one turns or walks away, its fair game!
Yup, it’s all part of the game!!
It looks like it is yours forever now Cricket!
Well, that is until she takes her eye off it, then it’s turned back around the other way! LOL
Never underestimate Cricket – she’s a slick little thing LOL
She certainly is!! 🙂
It doesn’t matter until it matters. We’ve been having a dog mat war here. It wasn’t really an issue and it was only occasionally used until Annie started using it. Now we have issues because it is Katy’s. Go figure.
Oh yeah, they can ignore a toy for months, but then if one of them decides it’s interesting again, they both have to have it!
Good for Cricket! Love her spunk!
Thanks, Auntie Sheryl! ♥
girls… they always want fun and our toys…
What are you gonna do??? 🙂
Awe, nice work Cricket! Hope you have fun with the toys. You were just waiting for the right time, weren’t you!
They think I’m sleeping all the time….but they don’t know it’s with one eye open! BOL
xxoo
Cricket
Cricket, you go, girl! Enjoy that toy 🙂
I sure will, thank you!!! ♥
