I love the sunshine and natural lighting in this photo, but couldn’t resist playing around with it a little bit too.
I used the “Posterize” effect on PicMonkey.com. I realized this is a great effect to use if you have a less than perfect photo (for example, out of focus, which I have many of!). You can turn it into something a bit artsy.
Do you use photo editing to make photos better (or just different) than the original?
Thank you to BlogPaws for hosting the Wordless Wednesday blog hop. Please visit other blogs through the links below!
Those are fun effects. I love the colour of the light in the original though.
I haven’t played with effects on photos, it’s one of the things I want to do. I’ve only cropped photos and added some text so far.
I don’t remember exactly when I took that photo, but it looks like a late evening sun, doesn’t it? It definitely highlights her fur.
Hope you get a chance to try some effects, it really is fun!
Nice effects, I especially like the second set of pics. Lighting is the bane of my existence! I always have trouble w/ lighting, indoors & outdoors. It’s either too dark in shade or too blaring in sun and just plain difficult indoors! I haven’t used effects just lots of auto enhance on the PC to lighten photos & reduce red eye, and heavy cropping!
You are so right….lighting is definitely the most challenging aspect of photography. It seems like it is never just right.
I also crop a lot…that is probably the thing I do the most!
Oh, yes. Mom’s been guilty of it. I guess if she had a better camera or the lighting was perfect, or she knew what she was doing, all photos would not need some ‘touch-up’. 😀
I know just how your Mom feels….photography is not easy, you know! 🙂
Now that’s a golden girl! My boyfriend likes to “decorate” photos, as he describes it. I take a more photojournalistic approach. But I love a good “clarity” filter!
She is made for sitting in the sunshine. 🙂
I tend to want to keep photos “natural”, but I need to get better at photography! 🙂
That is cool. I did not realize pic monkey had that one. I may need to play with a couple of photos. 🙂
It might be new….it’s the first time I’ve run across it, and I had no idea what it was going to do to the photo!
That’s a really good idea! Of course, I love my PicMonkey too. Use it for almost everything, unless I’m feeling adventurous.
There are so many different websites out there for this….but PicMonkey is the first one I used and I’m most comfortable with it, and Fotor. Sometimes if they don’t have what I need though I’ll search for something else.
Just different… because you can’t improve on such a good looking dog!
Thank you!! 🙂
Great photos, and artistic creations. Photo editors are great for removing eye goobers, i.d. tags that are shining, and other things that distract from our beautiful furries. And it’s fun to create pet art too.
I have more fun with the artsy part. Fixing problems seems to be more difficult!
Cool effects, I use photo editing software to make things different, haven’t really mastered fixing photos yet.
I haven’t done a lot with fixing them either. Usually if I try they’re too far gone to save anyway….LOL.
Those look great. Will have to try that effect. And yes, I have used some of the filters to improve a pic! I could spend hours playing on PicMonkey!
Thanks. Oh, I know, me too. It’s a big time suck!
I really need to learn how to use more of those cool effect – they look awesome. Great photos.
PicMonkey makes it easy. You can try all different ones without saving them, so you can switch until you find something you really like.
What cool pics!
Thank you! Come back on Saturday, I think I’m going to do something fun with a cat photo!
Mom uses some editing on GIMP, which helps a lot with exposure and color balance. The PicMonkey site has really cool filters and features, though! It’s fun to play around with- we’ve been known to use it frequently! 🙂 Cool pictures!
Thank you!
I’ve never heard of GIMP, so I might have to check that out.
Nice job!
Thank you!
What great effects on her photos. Hubby does all of my photography work and he sometimes does incredibly funny edits just for us. We love playing with our photos. ☺
Thanks! Your hubby is very talented, and comes up with some great stuff!
Sometimes. I did enjoy playing around with effects for Mr. N’s Halloween photo.
You did a great one for that. I wish I’d had time to play around with that for Halloween, but we were so busy with all the birthday stuff!
Cool effect!
Thank you!
Oh I love what you did with the photos! I use editing ALL of the time!
The lighting in my house is not great so I often have to play with the brightness etc…
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
You really do some great stuff with it, Jenna. Inside photos are the worst…they say you shouldn’t use flash, but the nice thing about flash is that it can freeze some motion, which is convenient when you have fidgety pets!
That is a fun effect. Lots of artistic stuff like that in Photoshop too. It’s fun to play with them.
It is fun. I keep thinking about purchasing some quality photo software one of these days. I just want to be sure I have the time to play with it.
I do both – sometimes I just play and see what I get. There’s a Caturday Blog Hop and that’s when I really go nuts sometimes…just clicking on all the different options to see what happens.
I’m thinking about joining that blog hop this weekend or sometime soon. You’ve had some great ones on SlimKitty.
Those are pawsome photo’s. We are back now and have missed you guys xxoxxx
Mollie and Alfie
Thank you! We’ve missed you too….so glad to see you back! xxxooo
That’s such a cool effect! I’ve never used that one before.
I don’t remember seeing it before…it might be new.
We normally use programs to just adjust lighting or something to improve the original photo, or to write on them for Pinterest, but occasionally we do use them for fun stuff.
I don’t do a lot of editing, but I probably should do more. I mostly just try to use photos that don’t need any! But it is fun to play around with….when you have the time.
