As I drove home yesterday evening in the very beginning of a snowstorm, the visibility was extremely poor and the roads were beginning to get slick. I was not feeling thankful at all for this snowstorm, or the fact that I had to go out in it to meet with my bookkeeping client. Once I was safely home and my hubby told me the dogs had already been out rolling around in the fresh snow, I felt much better.

This blog post is going up late this morning, because we woke up to 15 inches of snow, and I’ve been busy playing with some happy dogs. No, we haven’t been out playing in the snow yet. I’m afraid it’s going to be a bit too much for Cricket with her bad heart, and Luke with his bad knees, to try to run around in it too much. Also, if I throw a ball out there, it’s just going to disappear in it anyway! However, the dogs have ventured out there a couple times, and when they come back in, they are energized and want to play!
Many toys have been dragged out and I only sit and write this now as they have finally settled for a nap after all the fun. That is what I’m thankful for today – that our 13 year old beagle and her much younger brother are excited about fresh snow and wanted to play. Playing with them and watching them has made for a joyful morning around here.

I’m also thankful that neither my hubby nor I need to go anywhere today. It’s going to be a while before we can get out anyway (and it’s still snowing!). So I’ll leave you with some photos of our fun morning, and hope they bring a smile to your day as well. We are also thinking of those around the Northeast who have had it a little more difficult than us – we hear there are a lot of power outages in other parts of our state. We’re thankful to still have power and to know the worst we’ll have to do is dig our way out of this.

Holey CowKittiness, that looks like an iglo, Jan. Glad you enjoy that snow, doggies. Stay safe and warmπΈWarm Pawkisses for a Happy DayπΎππ»
I know, it’s crazy, right? π We don’t mind spring snow, since it can be warmer playing out in it…but it’s cold right now and that is making us ready for spring! β₯
It is beautiful; but I’m glad I don’t have to deal with it.
It warms the cockles of my heart to see Cricket playing so happily! Shadow was never one for toys so much as she was for balls. But she watches Ducky act like a looney tune and occasionally barks at her when she gets a case of the zoomies.
Cricket doesn’t get much into zoomies either, but she also likes to just watch Luke running around too! Then he’ll come at her and she’ll snark at him – I think it’s all part of their game!
Enjoy the peaceful feeling that comes with lots of snow and nowhere to go! We are short on snow this year, so Iβm kind of jealous!
I have to admit I don’t mind having an excuse to hibernate! π We’d be happy to share our snow with you….we have an overabundance now, and more coming this week!
Even know you it a ton of snow the pictures are cool. I like the dogs in the trail
We’ve actually been having fun playing in the trails!
I am SO thankful that Cricket is still like a playful pup, and that Luke’s knees are doing well. Both of those things are tributes to how well you take care of them!
You probably have already discovered this. We had 7′ of snow fall in 48 hours about 15 years ago. We didn’t bother to try to shovel paths for the dogs (and one was in a wheelchair – wheels supporting her paralyzed hind end). Rather, we stomped paths with snowshoes, and then stomped small “pens” where they could relieve themselves. It was so much better than trying to shovel!
I actually am jealous of your snow. We are going to be in a world of hurt this summer if we don’t get some more. I hope that you and your wonderful dogs keep having fun!
I never thought of the snowshoes, that is a great idea! We don’t usually get this much snow all at once, and the dogs are pretty good about making their own trails. But with more snow coming this week, I just might be trying that!
I hope you get more snow soon too. I can’t believe how much we’ve had this winter, it just keeps melting and then replacing itself!
Cute, cute!! Love that the energy from outdoors fresh air and snow makes them want to play even inside! So glad you could all stay home and cozy today, yay! And glad you got home before the brunt of it last night for sure!
I hope you worked from home that day too!
Wow! Thatβs a lot of snow! Good thing you have nowhere to go and the dogs are happy inside.
We really did have a nice day!
Wow we can’t imagine that much snow.
WOW! That’s one big bunch of snow but I’m glad Cricket and Luke are enjoying it! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I would be under a pile of blankets! It is extraordinarily beautiful though.
That is a perfect place to be on a day like that! Inside looking out. π
What a lovely morning. π You got much more snow than we did, and our mom had to go to work today. She was positive she’d be home today so she didn’t prepare anything last night! MOL We’re glad you’re all enjoying a cozy snow day.
Oh no….it’s always so disappointing to be planning on a snow day and then not get one! π
My dog loves the snow, but I’ll be glad to see spring.
I’m with you on that, Edie! I love seeing the dogs happy, but they can roll in the grass too! π
I normally don’t like snow, but for a smile and a wagging tail I say; YES! to snow much fun ;O)
The dogs are the only reason I can tolerate it! π
Holy cow! I know it’s Thankful Thursday but can’t help it, I’m so jealous of your storm. We haven’t had that much snow all winter! Enjoy a day of playing, snuggling and staying warm. π
We hope you get some more snow too before winter is over!
PS…not to make you feel bad, but we have more coming this week. π
Sampson always has hitch in his step with fresh snow! Although, potty spots were at a premium today. Stay warm and dry!
Sometimes Cricket walks out the door and pees right on the deck! We don’t mind….snow makes it all even. π
Glad they are enjoying the snow. It looks like you got more than us, we got 10 inches.
It snowed all day Thursday, so I think we ended up with about 18 inches when all was finally said and done.
A good snow always brightens our day around here. Madison is the most crazy. She loves to bound around in the deep stuff which is nice because it wears her out nicely. Enjoy.
It really is SO tiring for them….both dogs were totally zonked out the rest of the day, and even the next day!
Glad your pups are having fun inside! And I’m really thankful that it didn’t snow here in Maryland! π
You must have dodged a bullet there, because I heard they got a lot in NJ and maybe PA too?
