Today is the last day of summer K9 Kamp! Next Friday is the big K9 Kampfire blog hop where we will review all we have been doing for the last 3 weeks for Kamp. The summer theme is “Backyard Fun & Fitness Games”. I wanted to share just a little bit about what we have been up to, with more details to come next Friday.
Anyone who follows our blog closely knows that we are all about backyard games around here. Fetch is the favorite game, preferably with our West Paw Jive balls….Cricket’s favorites. I thought we should at least try to do some different things for Kamp, even though it’s not easy to get Cricket to change things up!
So we got out our other favorites…the West Paw Zisc (flying disc)! We had some fun with that, Cricket was even willing to play with it some (we have to hide all the balls to really get her to play).
I also got out our agility tunnel. We hadn’t had it out in the yard yet, we had only used it in the house and on the porch and deck, so that was fun. I was SO excited, because Sheba actually went through it! Sheba is one of those dogs that kind of freaks out at new things. If we move furniture or bring something new in, she’ll avoid that room for a while. She wasn’t afraid of the tunnel in the house, but she did avoid it at first, and frankly, I didn’t think she’d ever go through it. I was trying to coax Luke into it, when next thing I knew, she passed right by Luke and went running through!

We did try some other games as well, but you’ll have to come back to the Kampfire to hear more about how that went!
Now, I also have to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to the K9 Kamp (& FitDog Friday) hosts, SlimDoggy, The Writer’s Dog , and To Dog With Love. They have a huge giveaway for each K9 Kamp session, and they notified us that WE WON!! There are some awesome prizes, which of course I will be sharing with you later (or you can visit their blogs today to see what was in it). OMD….I can’t even express just how excited and thankful we are for this!
Looks like you guys have been having a lot of fun with your camp challenge! 🙂 That agility tunnel looks like it’s lots of fun, too. I would love to get something like that in the future.
It really is a lot of fun….Luke likes to run back and forth through it just for the fun of it!
Congrats on your big win! Agility. Maybe that is what we should do with Freighter. Then he can run and run…lol.
That Freighter definitely needs something that keeps him moving and out of trouble…LOL!
I’m hoping Luke will enjoy it, because he doesn’t play fetch quite as intensely as Cricket does, and I think he needs something with a little more variety (he has a very short attention span)!
Hey there!
Holy pug- you all ARE fit! If only I could stop being so kibble-dependent at all times, perhaps I can try some fun things like you all too. Alas, I see your fit pictures with kibbles in my mouth and lots of drool …. you get the point.
Congratulations on the awesome prizes! I know you will enjoy them. 🙂
Your friend,
Bunk The Pug
Thanks, Bunk! Now, if you just get a little exercise like we do, that means you can eat MORE kibble!!
You are on a roll! Congratulations! Yay for Sheba! Teddy and Sheba sound like they are a lot alike when it comes to new things. He freaks out too!
Thank you!! Sheba actually seems to do a bit better than she used to with new things. Her brother Moses used to be worse, and I think she often fed off his anxiety too. But it always feels like a triumph to me when she overcomes a fear!
Great backyard fun. Never heard of those toys. Go Sheba you rock! Congrats on the big win!
The best part of those toys is that they are pretty indestructible, which is what we needed with this crew! I guess I underestimated Sheba! Thank you!!
Good for Sheba…doesn’t it make you so proud when they do something we don’t expect! Congrats on the win too – can’t wait to see how Luke works that Agility Starter Kit!
It really does make me proud!!
I also can’t wait to see how Luke does with the agility kit. He’s a natural with the tunnel, so I hope he is with the other parts too!
Love the agility tunnel!
I have GOT to get one of those! I don’t think Lexus would touch it, but the other two I think would just love it!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
It was amazing how quickly Luke and Cricket took to it. Cricket had to be lured in with a ball, but Luke just likes to run through it for no reason at all!
I was so happy when I saw that you won all of that cool stuff! Big congratulations! Y’all will have a blast with everything. What a good dog Sheba is for venturing inside the tunnel! ♥
Thank you!! I just can’t believe how great the prize package is, with so much fun stuff!
I am so proud of our Sheba!! 🙂
ohh, looks like you’ve had all sorts of backyard fun! We had our flying disc out today too. Huge congrats again on winning the fab K9 Kamp prize pack!
Diane and Rocco
Thank you, we’ll be having even more fun when we get those prizes!! We’re trying to break things up a bit, even though Cricket would be happy playing nothing but ball, ball, ball! BOL
My zisc is mostly for chewing and chasing, not so much for catching… it also makes a great placemat for chewing on antlers!
Congratulations on winning the great prize pack! They’re gonna be SO excited to open it up!
Thank you, I know, I can’t wait until we get all the cool stuff! Our zisc gets chewed on as well, and as you saw in one of the photos, they also like to play tug of war with it! Luke can’t actually catch it yet, and Sheba has arthritis so we have to be careful not to let her jump too much. But she loves to catch it!
Congrats! How do you like the West Paw disc? I’m looking for something for Mr. N but everything is too heavy.
We love the Zisc, but our biggest thing is that toys have to be indestructible….the West Paw Zogoflex toys stand up to chewing pretty well. It is a bit on the heavy side, though Cricket is small (only 22 lbs) and she can carry it, even though she almost trips on it sometimes!
We were so happy when we heard you won! How pawsome is that? We took our tunnel outside, but Bailie kept pulling up the stakes and dragging the entire tunnel around the yard, so we gave up on it outside for now.
Thanks, Emma! We’re excited about all the cool stuff we won. Yes, we also had some issues with the dogs pulling the stakes out (well, I guess they just came out with all the flopping around in there), though no one dragged it across the yard! They did, however, think the tunnel was for jumping over and on, so I’m not sure how long it will stand up to their shenanigans!
