At least once a week from now on and as long as she’s still with us, our golden retriever Sheba is going to share one thing she does to live life to the fullest. At times when I’m watching her doing something fun, I get this feeling that she knows that her days in this world are winding down, and she is determined to make the most of them. It never fails to bring a smile to my face!

Harper Lee loves to sniff EVERYTHING on our walks. She walks second, so I’m usually in a bit of a hurry on her walks, and a little hot and miserable by then. I find myself losing patience with her and I have to remind myself that sniffing makes her happy, and we won’t always have our walks. And then we both slow down and enjoy our special time together. I’m so happy to see Sheba enjoying her special swimming time.
Our beagle Kobi was like that when he got older, and I often lost patience too! Eventually I also learned to just let him enjoy himself, even if we didn’t cover much ground sometimes. It was a special time for us too!
Love Sheba’s tips! No water dogs here (to my disappointment), so I love seeing her enjoy her swims.
I can’t believe your dogs don’t love swimming! I guess that just goes to show it’s the individual dog and not the breed. Sheba’s golden brother Moses would go in the water, but he would never swim!
Sheba and Jaxson have a great deal in common! They both love the water! She’s looking mighty happy there JanK. You’re doing an outstanding job with her!

Mom needs to follow Sheba’s tips as she’s been in a real funk the last few days. Like Sheba her favorite thing to do is swim, not only did she miss the last week of outdoor swims for the summer her indoor swims are questionable now. Love Dolly

There is just something so peaceful and relaxing about watching her swim. Of course, it’s not so relaxing trying to dodge her from shaking off next to me when she comes out…LOL.

Mom tries to let us all do what we love when we can. I know with Katie, Mom was often late to work because she did what Katie wanted to do on walks which often took way too long. It made them both happy, though and that was important. I want to swim there with that nice clear water!
I totally agree with Sheba……live every day like it may be your last…..that’s what I do too and I know my Mom does the same. Our time here is SHORT – we have to enjoy it while we can, right Sheba? RIGHT GIRL!
