When I saw this week’s #52Snapshots of Life photo challenge theme of “Shadow“, I thought this one should be easy! Then the sun went in for several days. Luckily I had snapped just a couple photos last Sunday when the sun was out bright, but I was frustrated trying to do it on our deck where the dogs were hanging out, because as I lamented to my hubby “Why do we have so much furniture on our deck? It’s getting in the way of my photos!”. As it turns out, the sun finally came back out brightly yesterday and I got a few more shots.
I ended up selecting a photo from the deck though, because the ones I took yesterday weren’t too exciting. I liked this photo of Luke because of the different reflections playing across his shadow, and the stretching of the shadow making his already long legs look much longer. I did edit the photo just a bit; I decreased the gamma and increased the contrast using my old camera software, to make the shadow stand out just a bit more.
BTW, this photo was taken with my new Nikon D5500. I’m starting to get the hang of it, and I am pleased with the clarity I’m getting on a lot of my photos!

Nice shots! The shadow looks great and definitely stands out. Love the look of those long legs!
Sorry I’m a little late. Yesterday was a rough day – as you know – and I didn’t get a chance to read many posts. But I love the photo! I love the vividness of the colors, and the contrasts! Of course, I could have loaned you a photo of MY Shadow. LOL
Thank you, Sue, and I wish I’d thought of a photo of your Shadow! 🙂
I hope that both you and Shadow are feeling at least a bit better by now. ♥
Today has been better, thanks! We just have to take them one at a time.
Nice photo!
great photo of a shadow, wow! It looks so cool, just like him! 🙂
Those darn shadows…always following us around. 😉
Very nice photo
Yay for the new camera! I love this photo too.
Luke, your shadow is so awesome! Nice work!
Okay, I have no idea what a gamma is (what gamma’s are?) but cute pic! He almost looks like a greyhound in his shadow! (Especially if you look at the right ear as a snout…)
Ha ha, I don’t actually know what a gamma is either, all I know is just can adjust it on your photos!!
It’s funny you said Luke looks like a greyhound, because he really runs like one! He is super fast and we often say he could race with the greyhounds. I hadn’t looked at the shadow that way though, very observant of you!
Awesome photos Jan! I love the brightness of that photo, (the bold colors of the blue and red) and the way the shadows contrast. Great job with the challenge.
Great shadow pic! Especially because mom’s shadow isn’t in it. Love Dolly
Do you know how many photos I had to put aside because they had my shadow holding the camera in them? LOL
Cool shot with lots of different shadows.
Wow what a great shot!! I love the shadow!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Good one! That shadow is forever following us

Luke, you have the shadow of a great dane… that’s impressing and very practical in case you have to chase an intruder away :o)
And chasing intruders away is one of his favorite pasttimes. Well, not just intruders…pretty much everyone! I suspect he thinks of himself as a great dane when he’s barking away. 🙂
Perfect “shadows” photo!
Nice shadow 🙂
that’s PERFECT!!!
