Many of you already know that this is our cat Samantha’s second spring helping to raise our new chicks in our upstairs room. I thought it would be fun to share a short little video of Sam hanging out with the chicks. Turn up the volume so you can hear their chirping!
Can you believe how fast they grow? They are really getting a lot of their feathers and showing their colors now. We can tell which breed is which and I’m excited by how pretty they all are!
I’ll try to get better photos in the future too…we’ve just been so busy around here and the light up there is not the greatest either. We hope to get them outside for some “field trips” this week and I should be able to get better photos then. They will be old enough to move out to the coop (still in a separate cage though) at about 6 weeks, so Sam’s duty as Chick Mama will be over. Maybe she’ll spend a little more time enjoying the fresh air at her new window!

Love, love, that Mama Sam, she is just So happy with her chicks! They are beautiful,and of course growing too fast….but she will be able to smell them perhaps, and hear them, when they are gone,from that wonderful window. And of course, Her mama will also take her outside sometimes where she can be near them again!
Sam will miss her chicks again! I bet it feels good to see her enjoying life 🙂
She will, but she may have another job very soon. Stay tuned!

The video with Sam is precious. She doesn’t appear to have any interest in harming the chicks, but you’re right – you never know when some predatory instincts might kick in.
