We have had a busy week here on the farm! So busy, I don’t even have time to tell you about it all; so you’re going to have to wait until Monday for more details. For now, we’ll just say things are looking up around here (other than a strange lack of rain after a very wet April/early May, which is not good for the few things I already have planted in the veggie garden). We don’t have a lot of flowers here yet, but we’ll share a couple photos of those we do, and give you a little peek at what’s been going on. Here’s part of our week in photos:
Samantha got her new window! You may have seen past photos of Sam by a big picture window. We’ve been wanting to get windows that open there so she can have some fresh air. I think she’s happy about it, even though she spends a lot of time upstairs with the new chicks!
Here’s another very important project that was going on (finished photos on Monday). Who knows what it is going to be?
The memorial garden is starting to come together. It’s a “work in progress” as we wait for the weather to be warm enough to put all the flowers out.
Isn’t our azalea bush beautiful? I actually thought it might be starting to die as some of the leaves had been turning yellow. It seems to be doing fine though, and the bees love it! Can you find Waldo (Luke) in the photo?
I don’t remember this beautiful tulip from last year! I thought it was all by itself…..
….until I found two more hiding behind some other plants!
What’s new around your place this week?

The memorial garden is looking lovely!! We already read the Monday post so we cheated and nose dat it are a chicken coop š So glad sisfur Samantha is loving her new window.
xoxo,
Matt & Matilda
Thank you! Now we just need some nicer weather around here so Sam can enjoy her window a little more!
I’m so glad things are looking up and I know Sam loves getting the fresh breeze through her new window. I don’t see Luke in the azalea bush photo!
Look at the very bottom of the right window, and you can just see his eyes peering out! He likes to keep an eye on me when I’m outside. š
The Memorial Garden looks very nice and I love the color of your azalea.
Thank you!
Everything looks great! A new chicken coop?
Good guess – it’s not a coop, but does have to do with the chickens!
I am glad Samantha got a new window š Have a nice weekend!
Thank you, you too!
How wonderful to find those tulips…what a beautiful color!
They are unique, aren’t they? I’d never seen one with green on the petals!
I love your tulips! And the new window for Sam is perfect. I’m guessing that that construction project has something to do with keeping your birds safe. I’m glad that things are looking up so much around there!
You are right – it’s for the birds!!
Oooo! Lots of cool stuff going on around your place! We love Sam’s window. What a great viewing spot.
It’s one of the best spots in the house! I think I’d like a window seat there. š
Since we just by potted flowers, they are instantaneous! I’m sure before long your place will be all set up for the summer and you will be harvesting stuff in no time!
I usually buy some potted flowers too – instantaneous is great! – but I’m trying to resist and start all my own this year (to save money). I’ll let you know if I get impatient and cave in! š
I LOVE purple azaleas! It’s gorgeous!! And the surprise tulips are also very pretty.
I’m intrigued by the building project, though. Is it perhaps a/the safe enclosure for the chickens and guinea hens that the Dadz built about a month ago?
Have a great weekend!!
I knew the azaleas were someone’s favorite, but couldn’t remember who! š
Yes, you are right about the building project – this is the new improved version!
That azalea is spectacular! Happy weekend working on all your projects.
It’s fun, but the only bad thing about keeping so busy is that the weekend flies by! š
Those sure are pretty flowers and I’m glad things are looking up!
Looks like good stuff all around. And surprise tulips are the best.
I’ve always loved them, but didn’t think there were any at this house. I was so glad to see these! I think maybe they came up but didn’t blossom last year.
Tulips are my absolute favorites. I love that Sam mothers the chicks. And she’s pretty luck to have that awesome window. Mine have to work to get in the window.
She used to sit in the other windows which opened, but then she stopped doing that (they’re harder to get to with a futon in front of them), so I’m really happy she can get some fresh air now.
The flowers are beautiful. The memorial garden is so lovely, can’t wait to see the flowers and pics on Monday.
Thank you, Maggie! The best part is these are only the beginning. When we bought this house two years ago, we couldn’t believe the extent of the gardens!
The tulips see to spread and move here. Mom blames the squirrels.
Oh, that could be!
