We really had a lot of fun with our “Jelly Bean VS Nosy Bean – Who’s the Most Active Dog?” contest. We know you’ve all been waiting for the winner to be revealed!
Was it Cricket AKA Jelly Bean, seen here on the run while playing? Or….
….Luke AKA Nosy Bean, seen here lying on the deck while his older sister is running after the ball?
I think we were all fooled by that comparison, because the winner is…..LUKE! While Cricket is “all in” when she plays fetch, she might just wear herself out too quickly. Luke illustrates “slow and steady wins the race.” While he doesn’t run hard playing fetch like Cricket, he’s on the move throughout the day. The video below might just show why he won:
The voting tally, counting votes made in the comments section and on the Rafflecopter, was Cricket: 28, and Luke 21. Cricket wants you to know that she greatly appreciates your support and your faith in her! We still think she does pretty darn well for a 12 year old lady. We will be contacting the winner of our prize pack giveaway today.

Our Review of the Poof Bean Tracker
In short, we LOVE it. I was pleasantly surprised with just how easy it is to use, and how much information it gives.

When we received our two bean trackers, one in blue and one in coral, all we had to do was plug them in to charge (charger included), which didn’t take long at all, then they were ready to go. You have the option of a tag ring to hang it off the collar, or a collar holster. We decided to use the holster, and it was simple to put over their collars.
Then we easily found the app in the iPhone app store (it is available on Google Play as well). I entered each dog’s information, and then the Bluetooth capability made it easy to sync the bean with the phone (just make sure only one bean is within range, I had both too close and did have to re-do one of them). You can enter as many pets as you like in the app – and yes, this is for cats too!
Other features of the Poof Bean:
- The battery is rechargeable and the charge lasts about 60 days. The app tracks this for you to let you know where you’re at.
- It’s waterproof – Cricket demonstrates that in the below photo, you can see the coral color bean on her collar.
- Many colors available! Luke has the blue, which you might have seen on his collar in the video.
- There is another tracker available, the Pea, which is round and a bit larger. It has a replaceable battery which lasts about 6 months.
What does the app track?
- Exercise. Time as well as intensity. Here are some examples of some of the reports you can get.
This was from each of their best days since we started. Weekly report with graphs. (Cricket left, Luke right) - Sleep. While I haven’t paid a lot of attention to this part so far (I’m pretty sure both dogs get plenty of quality sleep!), I can see some great applications for this information. There have been times I might have thought one of the dogs was sleeping more than usual. This could be a great way to know for sure, especially important with senior pets, and maybe a clue that they are not feeling well. The app provides information and graphs for daily, weekly, monthly, and even yearly activity and sleep so you can really do a good comparison.
- Calories. There is a large database of foods available, and we were happy to find the food we feed in there. The app also gives a suggestion of serving sizes, and I was also pleased to see that their suggestion lined up exactly with what we feed!
Luke’s food recommendation.
Additional features/highlights:
- There is a community for sharing and comparing your pet’s activities to others.
- Lost pet alert. You can report your pet lost and other users in the area can see your pet if they go within their range.
- Local shelter list in app.
- You can join challenges and win prizes.
- Easy posting to social media.
- Know how active your pet was while you were at work or away. I can see uses for this. If we’re having work done around the house, I can see whether Luke was more active and upset by it, or if he just slept his normal amount.
- 100% of proceeds from all sales go to GreaterGood.org, an organization that helps animal shelters.
I think the Poof Activity Trackers are fun as well as useful. Even though my dogs are a little less active when compared to others than I was hoping for, that’s exactly what keeps me motivated to do more with them, and we are working on doing better since we started using these.

I have friends that use these for their schipperkes. As a bonus, they could tell when their teenage son woke up because the dog activity would increase dramatically.
That is too funny – I love it!
Way to go guys, your both winners!!!
I forget who I voted for! It would be interesting to know what Raven is up to when we’re at work. I suspect she sleeps a lot, but you never know!
You voted for Luke, so good job! I did finally get around to checking out the stats for when I was at work. They slept most of the time, but one time, both on the same day had a spike in activity at the same time. Something interesting must have gone by the house!
Well done to both dogs!
I love Cricket’s ears in that photo. If she runs fast enough, she’ll fly!
Yes, I fully expect her to just take flight one of these days! 🙂
Fun post! Congrats to Luke, but yup, Cricket did just great in her runner up position, especially considering her age. Luke sure looks like a crazy boy in that video, too funny, or he also looks like “what’s next, where’s the trouble, what can I get into please??”Ha-ha! Oh, this is a new idea for a “sports watch” for my workplace, won’t mention the name, but this is next in the running then, folllow up to the human sports trackers! Technology, wow!
Your company better get with the times, Lynn, technology for our pets is becoming a big thing! 🙂
Very interesting data.
That’s a pretty cool tracker. It tracks a lot of things! Congrats to Luke…it pays to be nosy!
They are super handy if you really want to track what your pet is up to!
That really is super cool and sure tacks lots of things. Congrats Luke, ya done good!!!
I suspect that if you had been able to attach the activity tracker to Cricket’s ears, she might have won. They are ALWAYS swinging. 🙂
Ha ha ha, I think you might be right about that, Pamela!
Way to go, Luke! I love that your tracker helps with calories. That is something ours doesn’t do and it would be helpful. Great review!
Thank you! It really was good to confirm that we are feeding the right amounts. I’ve always based it off our Slimdoggy widget, but had to guesstimate on how much exercise time they really got. Good to know I must have guessed well!
Yup, color me surprised. I thought for sure the ‘Old Lady’ had this one in the bag.
I like some of the other features you spoke about, specifically the option of others seeing your dog in range, in case someone gets away. I can definitely see the value in that.
I really thought Cricket might pull it off too, but hubby thought it would be Luke. Either way, I just love that Cricket is still so active. I really think she does just burn herself out more quickly, and because of her age needs more recovery time. 🙂
Well how cool is that?! Little Miss Cricket will always be best in show in our books but well done, Luke!????
Congrats to Luke!
congrats Luke !!! and congrats Cricket… to win the silver medal is mighty fine too… I’m proud that you are such a a fabulous active girl!!!
Good job, Luke!!! And, Cricket did well, too, especially when you consider her age. I couldn’t help voting for your senior girl!
Luke gets the zoomies just like Ducky. And it’s fun to watch them, isn’t it?! Such crazy energy outlets!! And I love how Cricket told Luke to leave her alone! Reminded me of Callie telling Ducky to leave her alone.
Cricket has no qualms about putting Luke in his place, and it doesn’t bother him one bit either! It really is so much fun to watch them tearing around, just having a blast and burning off some energy. Cricket even doesn’t it occasionally, though her version is a bit more laid back and much more short lived. But she’s so cute!
Judging by that video, I’m not surprised that Luke was the most active!
He gets much more exercise when no one is trying to get him to exercise! LOL
