Folks, you will not believe what happened! My deer friends have been around a lot lately. They’ve even been hanging around right outside my fenced-in yard! Momz and Dadz won’t let me play with the deer. You can see in the below photos how I’m being kept captive in the house while they are out there.

You might also know that I’m not allowed to play with our farm birds either. They say I get too rough with them. The guinea hens like me and I know they want to play with me! Often when I go outside in my yard, they come right up by the fence to see me. See the photo below, taken a while ago, where the guinea hens are teasing me!

Then Momz always makes me go in the house! She says it’s not me, but the crazy birds she doesn’t trust not to fly over the fence to see me. So anyway, the other evening those deer were right back by my yard again. Two of them were right there, and next thing we know, those crazy guinea hens are marching right up to the deer! On some occasions they have tried to chase the deer off, but this time they were just hanging out with them.
I call “No fair”!! I can’t play with the deer, I can’t play with the guinea hens, but the deer and the guinea hens are allowed to play together? How does that seem right?? Guess what else? There are no photos of this event. While Momz says she just didn’t want to scare the deer away, I think she just didn’t want me to have proof of how mean she and the Dadz are! What do you think, readers, who is in the right here?
Anyway, Momz says I also have to share some nice nature photos she took. This is what it looks like around here now, although the weather has been a bit warmer so some of the snow is melting.

Thanks to our friends The LLB Gang for hosting the Nature Friday blog hop. Please visit them and other blogs through the links below!
Poor you being kept away from the deer. Those are very pretty photos.
Thank you! He gets his chances to chase them off sometimes, when we let him into his yard and don’t realize they’re out there (especially after dark when we can’t see them)! 🙂
BOL MOL we feel ya Luke Mama does the same thing to us. Sumfin about not wanting to has to take the poor animal to da wildlife rescue if we gets ahold of it…blah blah blah 😉
Love all the snowy pictures!!

Mamas always have excuses for not letting us have fun!!
BOL,

I think your Momz may be right about the marauding deer, added to just not knowing what the guinea hens could be doing. THEY could be plotting and planning to overtake your turf. You just can’t always trust them. 🙂 At least that’s what we go with at our house!
Those crazy birds are always up to no good!! 🙂
We think the deer are the trouble-makers, not the guineas, Luke. But it’s probably much safer you stay away from them. They are probably in the midst of the rutting season and are dangerous to get too close to now.
Yeah, I know you’re right. Around here dogs could get in big trouble for chasing deer too! I think the guineas were just telling the deer to move on anyway. 🙂
Doesn’t your Mom know that you just want to make friends?! Somewhat loosely defined …
Yeah, Momz doesn’t like how I play with my “friends”. BOL
That is not fair. Maybe you need a dog friend addition to your family 🙂
Don’t give my parents any ideas!! BOL
You sure are missing out on all the fun Luke but maybe you just need to bark from a distance at them. Yikes, that’s too much snow!
And more is supposed to be on the way, but right now it’s just sleeting and raining.
I do get my chances to chase those deer off. After dark Momz and Dadz can’t see that they’re out there, so I get to run along the fence with them. Or, well, at them I guess. 🙂
Yikes on all that snow, Luke. You’ll get used to it soon. It’s how pups roll.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your peeps. ♥
I don’t mind the snow, as long as the temperatures stay decent. If it gets to 20 or below that, the snow is too cold on my paws. 🙁
I can’t believe ya’ll already have snow! BRRRR!!! I think you should be able to play with all the creatures on the farm. Demand equal play. BOL! We can hear coyotes in the woods close to us at night. We kept wondering why Bentley was barking in our bedroom each evening. You can hear them back there. We won’t let him play with them either, Luke.
Coyotes are kind of scary!! At least I get to run along the fence with the birds sometimes. The chickens won’t fly over, so I’m allowed to go see them (as long as the fence is in between us – BOL).
the snow on that burning bush has something special… as if Bob Ross was there over night and used his magic pecil with da white paint ;O)
It’s definitely picture perfect! 🙂
Our mom would let us out if there were deer, but the chickens would be a problem. You need another friend to play with so you don’t need the chickens or wildlife.
Yeah, a friend would be fine; as long as they didn’t stay over and try to horn in on my snuggle time with Momz and Dadz. 🙂
Bummer that you can’t go out and be friendly with the guinea hens and the deer too, Luke.
Our yard is fenced in except at the end of the driveway. Deer don’t seem to come inside the fence but we do seem them on our walks from time to time and they always have me dancing on my hind legs. How I wish I could take off after them!
It would be fun, right? I guess our parents are afraid we might not find our way back. 🙁
