Just in time for Christmas we’ve got some handmade catnip toys in our shop! I’ve been wanting to make these for a while, using our 100% organic catnip (of course) that we grow right here on the farm. I was inspired by our friend Ellen who gave some handmade toys to our Angel kitty Samantha one time. I needed something simple that didn’t require sewing, knitting, or crocheting! I found a huge bag of quilt squares at a thrift store, and with just that and a pair of craft scissors, we were in business!

However, I needed to know if cats would really play with them or not, and since we’re sadly cat-less at this time we had to outsource our testing once again to Cousin Nina (which we sometimes had to, even when our fussy Sam was still with us!). Nina did a great job of testing and gave us some important feedback. My sister (Nina’s Mom) added her ideas which were a big help and we were ready to go!

I put three toys with different fabrics in a bag along with some loose catnip to get the smell on those toys really well. Each toy is also filled with catnip, and could easily be untied to add more when needed.Β

However, quantities are limited since our catnip crop is getting low due to winter weather. We have a new crop started indoors, but that will take some time to be ready. Nina says get ’em while you can! π

Those sounds lovely!!

Matilda (& Matt)
Thank you! They were a bigger hit than we expected, and we sold out! π
Whoa – those are nice! I bet that they’ve all been snapped up π
They have been! I was actually very surprised myself!
What a clever idea! You are so creative.
Thank you! I never used to be very creative, I seem to have found my creative side lately!
Very cool, nice job!
Thank you, JoAnn!
Nina loved her catnip toy! Trying to get a pic of her proving that was challenging, glad we got what we did! But she did indeed bat it around, great for that, and roll on it too, not to mention the licking of that yummy catnip! We love that it is organic and grown by our wonderful own Aunty Jan! Only the best from her! And to note, Nina is not exactly a youngster anymore, so if it gets her going at her age, that is super! Thanks, Aunt Jan, hope many others will get some to enjoy!
Oh and forgot to say, we love the Angel Sam on your packages!! We noticed it right away!
Thank you!! β₯
Nina must be good at her job, because we’ve sold three bags of toys already! π
Cousin Nina is lucky to be on staff. I’m not a catnip gal myself, but it looks like she’s enjoying the toys.
We think she likes her job! π
Nina is a cutie. Those toys look fun π
She does seem to think so! π
Looks like Nina has given them the seal of approval.
She’s good at her job! π
Those look like fun toys…easy to bat around.
super cute. I think the way you tied them is clever. Purrfect for swatting.
Thank you, Caren!! xo
very clever design! I bet all the kittys love these! Merry Christmas!
Thank you, Kathe – and Merry Christmas to you too!
Oh those do sound wonderful, we may just have to buy some of those!
Thank you so much for placing an order!! β₯
Chief Nina loves it and you can tell. So cute.
Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

it’s always mip-tini time right?
Absolutely!! π
I’m sure Bert would love them but Olivia might eat them. Cat toys are normally a no no because Bert eats them, but in this case it might be the puppy that would create the problem. One day we may have a cat who can have toys. They look great, and I bet they smell great to cats too.
Our Angel cat Katie used to eat a lot of her toys too. Then we also could never have them around anyway, once we got the golden retrievers. Hopefully Olivia outgrows possibly eating them, our goldens never did! π
You look like you are really loving your catnip toy, Nina!
She did have some fun with it!
