I play ball with the K9 Crew just about every single day. We do other things too – walks, occasional hikes, swimming; but we don’t do those things daily. We never miss a game of ball, and it doesn’t get old for any of us. Even I feel out of sorts if we haven’t had our play time. The only things that stop us are pouring rain, thunderstorms, or blizzards. If we humans have to go away for a day, we still try to squeeze some play time in either before or after if possible.

I just never tire of watching these guys have fun, and taking photos of the action as well. I am surprised by the great photos I get just using my iphone. I almost always have that in my pocket, so it’s easy to grab it when the mood strikes. I usually only have my DSLR when I’m planning photos for something special. All the photos today were taken with my phone.
By far my favorite shots to capture are the ones where the camera freezes the action of that ball flying, and the dogs’ reactions to it, in place. I hope you don’t get tired of seeing these action photos either!

Of this series of photos I took, the next two are my favorites. There’s just something so fun about the ball suspended in the air, and the expectant faces waiting for it to come down!
Which one is your favorite?
I’m with you, the looks on their faces are priceless.
Totally not fair to ask us to choose a favorite! iPhone’s do take great photos outdoors, Mom got some great ones of Taffy airborne trying to climb a tree after a squirrel. But she needs to know what lens to use on her DSL for action shots as they never turn out. Love Dolly
I think a longer lens works better for action shots, but I can’t swear to that! I have a lens that goes from 18mm up to 140mm, and I always use the “sport” setting for action shots. But I think they usually come out best when I’m further away and zoom in on them.
Great fun and photos.
Love ALL the photos, Jan! Especially the ones where you captured the ball still in the air and the pups’ waiting for it to fall! I take most of my photos on my phone, too, as you know. It’s just easier than lugging the regular camera around.
My last phone didn’t take nearly as good pictures. If I’d known how well this one was going to do, I might not have spent so much on a fancy camera!
They are all great photos-but the 2nd from last I would pick as my favorite I guess. But I just can’t believe you got those pics with the ball in the air, Jan!!! That is crazy awesome!! Love their expectant faces and posed for action bodies!!
Thanks, Lynn! It always surprises me when I see those photos come out, because I usually have no idea that the ball got in the shot!
I know what you mean. For us it’s football and frisbees. Jax has his favorite Kong football and Harley loves to chase frisbees. He doesn’t catch any of them, but he’s great at chasing! Have a great weekend.
Great pictures! We love the last one. Dogs have so much fun.
Those are fabulous photos. I never like the action shots I take with my iphone.
Ball never gets old in our place and some sort of fetch (ball/disc) is a daily occurrence as is a walk.
I guess ball for you is like chase and wrestle for us. It is a great way to bond with your furry ones.
I love the action shots. So funny!! Cocoa does not like playing ball. Weird. Hope you have a wonderful day!!
Most of the dogs we’ve had have loved playing ball; but our beagle Kobi never wanted anything to do with it. I was really surprised when Cricket took to it so much, I had no idea that beagles would like playing ball that much!
Such cute photos! I love the burst mode on my phone for moments like this–it’s always a fun surprise to see what photos show up. I’m glad you’re still able to get regular games in despite the moving chaos 🙂
I only used burst mode once, and that was by accident! Now I can’t figure out how it works! LOL
I want to be doing more with the dogs, but we’re doing the best we can while getting settled in.
Yes, those last two shots are great. They look like they are all having so much fun.
