We can add peas to the list of Luke’s favorite farm fresh vegetables!
I hadn’t planted peas in our garden for quite a few years, but because we accidentally found out he liked them (cooked), I decided to try them again this year. Hubby and I aren’t big fans of cooked peas, but I do love fresh sugar snap peas in their pods from the garden. They are best when picked early, with the peas barely formed, but I am letting some grow so Luke can have the peas. He does not like the shells, and will only eat them if I shell them for him! I will also be able to freeze some, and I am going to try roasting them with our garlic scapes for hubby and me.
Has your dog (or cat!) ever tried peas?
We are happy to be joining our friends at Comedy Plus for the Wordless Wednesday blog hop. Please visit them and other blogs through the links below.
I have added peas to the dog food I make from scratch, and some were eaten while some were left in the bowl. I’ve moved on to cooked broccoli, cauliflower, and green beans, as those get scarfed right up! Your clematis is beautiful!
I imagine if I had added peas to our angel girls’ food, many would have been left behind! We actually cooked the whole pods into Luke’s food (which we make in the Instant Pot), and it was so easy – plus he loved it!
Yum!! My sister’s animals love frozen peas even her fish love them. LOL

Many, many years ago we had fish, but I never knew they liked peas! 🙂
I sometimes eat a food that has peas in it. I eat everything but the peas. I hate peas! ~Zoey
Samantha was with you on that, Zoey!
Raw sugar snap peas are YUMMY!
Benji & Dalton think so too:)
So did MJF, back in the day…
Pipo…nah…BOL!
I don’t think I ever tried them with any of our other pets, but I can imagine they would not have been thrilled! I think our cat Sam had some canned foods with them in there, and she wouldn’t eat them.
Hello Friends! You are mentioning 2 things that I’ve had lately, that I’ve not dealt with or eaten much. One is garlic scapes (who knew you could make pesto with them?) but I’ve never had them before and I’m enjoying looking up recipes for them. And the other new food is fresh peas. Our dogs like the peas, but I have been steaming them and putting them with their food, so they’re happy, and I think they’re pretty good too.
Garlic scapes are new to me too! So far I’ve only sauteed them up with other veggies for pasta.
We’re going to add some of the whole pea pods to Luke’s homecooked meals too, I don’t think he’ll mind the pods once they are cooked.
We love sugar snaps raw in salads and cooked in stir fries.
Raw in salads is my favorite, and sometimes I just eat them on the side with a sandwich!
We love peas and beans although we can’t eat them on keto. The boys love them and they are in their Dr. Harvey’s food.
I didn’t know that about the Keto diet!
Go Luke, what a nice healthy treat! Rosy will play with peas…but she won’t eat them. The Boyz won’t eat anything healthy BOL!
Luke says Rosy is such a smart girl! It was our girls around here that were the picky ones, they would eat very few fruits or veggies.
Yum, that is the best!
All you are saying is give peas a chance!
Ha-Ha!! to Brian’s comment! Luke is such a card, but this would only help him to remain so healthy, so it’s great!!
Yes, that was definitely a good one, Brian!!
Yum…those little green gems made me drool!
Summertime with fresh veggies from our garden is our favorite time of year!
Little Bit never liked veggies. We tired, but no. Luke is such a good pup and you’re wonderful to make sure he can have fresh peas.
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Smooches to Luke. ♥
Only the best for our boy! ♥
oooh what a timing… can you throw us some over the bing pond please… we just make tuna salad LOL
Oh, Momz wants to make that too! But the Dadz won’t eat it. Now you gave her the idea, she might make some just for herself. She’s never had it with fresh peas from her garden before!
We have peas in our food every day. I sometimes pick them out and leave them on the floor, but I’m a very picky eater. My sisters gobble down everything. Enjoy, Luke!
Cricket used to pick them out too, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen Luke leave anything from his bowl uneaten! He does on occasion just drop something I give him on the floor, like with the pea pod.
I love peas too, Luke. Mom loves them raw right out of the garden but I’ve never had them that way before. I like them out of the frozen store bag just like that – cold and crisp!
MMmmmm….I love frozen veggies too!
Woofs,
Luke
The boys would never eat any veggies, and if it was in their food would leave it in neat little piles around the edge of their dishes. I love raw sugar snap peas too.
That’s exactly what our little angel beagle used to do too, she was not a fan of fruits and veggies like her brother is!
