“A house is not a home without a dog.” No truer words were ever spoken! Dogs and other pets are what make a home cozy. With all the love and companionship they give us, don’t they deserve to be as comfortable as possible? We true pet lovers spoil our pets, there’s no doubt about that. Part of that spoiling is giving them comfortable pet beds to lie on.

However, some dogs need a little bit more than just comfort. With an aging beagle and a young dog with joint issues in our household, what could add even more to their everyday comfort? For us it is an orthopedic memory foam pet bed from Brentwood Home.
We do all we can for our dogs and their joint issues, and try to help them in the most natural ways possible. For our senior beagle, Cricket, medications are necessary, but we also try to benefit her and her brother Luke’s joints with natural supplements, light exercise, and throw rugs around our house to make floors less slippery. Adding an orthopedic bed was a welcome addition to our arsenal in keeping her feeling well, and hopefully keeping Luke’s bad knees from needing surgery.

Gel infused memory foam and orthopedic support foam benefit dogs and their joints by preventing and relieving body aches and joint pain, hip dysplasia and arthritis.
While I can’t at this point speak to whether the bed is making a difference or not (it would probably be difficult to ever really know for sure), I can certainly speak to the features we love about it. We chose the Runyon bed from Brentwood Home, with bolstered sides, since the dogs often enjoy a place to support their heads. The color I chose, mocha, and the fact that this bed looks like a beautiful piece of furniture make it fit in perfectly with our décor. That’s simply a bonus for me!
What’s also important for senior dogs like Cricket is that the cover is removable, stain resistant, easy to wash, and it has a waterproof liner. Cricket is on heart medication that causes her to drink more water. That leads to increased urination and we do occasionally have accidents. While we try to be diligent about getting her outside more, sometimes she just doesn’t make it. That’s why it’s so important to me that the zipper cover is washable as well.

I appreciate that Brentwood Home has been in the mattress and home essentials business for over 30 years. They are based in Los Angeles, California where they create products using healthy and ethically-sourced materials. This bed is made with non-toxic materials; the CertiPUR-US foam has no chemical flame retardants, heavy metals, or phthalates. It also has a furniture-grade upholstery cover, and high density “human-grade” foam that does not get flat – I look forward to having a bed that does not just go flat in time!
In addition, their pet beds come with a 3-year warranty and returns are easy. It’s not just for dogs either, this would make a great bed for cats as well. We chose the medium size since I felt it would work well for both dogs, and fit right into the location I wanted for it. It fits perfectly, and somehow a 22-pound dog as well as a 62-pound dog can stretch out and be comfortable in it equally! It comes in 3 other sizes as well.

We bet your dog or cat wants to snuggle in comfort while relieving pressure on their joints too. We are excited to be sharing with you a special coupon code to save 15% on a pet bed – just use the code WAGN15 at checkout (click here for pet beds page). Ordering and delivery is simple, and we received e-mail notifications so we knew exactly when our bed would arrive!

I do love the orthopedic qualities of this bed, but also that the cover can be removed and washed. I have three senior Treeing Walker Coonhounds (7-10 years old) and while the two boys haven’t had any real issues – yet – my girl, the oldest, has arthritis and is having some medical issues which are making all her joints stiff and painful and is even having trouble walking. A bed like this would help relieve some of those issues for her.
I love the bolstered sides, but more importantly, I love that it does not “go flat”. My little gal has a lot of medical problems and this bed would be so perfect for her!
That it is orthopedic especially with Layla going on 11
So many senior dogs have joint issues, I think it’s so important to do all we can to alleviate that.
What a fantastic bed! All of my dogs are over 8 years old, and one of them has been having big problems with his hips. This bed would be perfect for them. When I buy dog beds now I prefer to get ones that have removable covers.
It sounds like you really need this bed! I agree, removable covers make life SO much easier.
Those beds look fabulous! I just checked out their website, and I want one!
I just love ours so much!!
That is one super cool bed! Looks very comfy and so many great features.
I think this bed would be perfect for Ruby especially in the winter. She has some stiffness in the winter months. We live in the midwest with damp very cold winters. I can just picture her in this bed near the heat vents – I bet our cat Rosie would like it, too!
If you got the same size we have, Ruby and Rosie could snuggle together in it, if they do that! 🙂
Fabulous review! We aren’t entering because we have one too, so far no photos of Dakota on it 🙁 He went on it once, Cody has taken it over!!!!!!!!! It is one FABULOUS and well-made bed! We will be reviewing ours in a couple of weeks!
Can’t wait to read Cody’s review. That cat doesn’t miss an opportunity, does he? Hee hee.
That is one pawsome bed…and some lucky dog is gonna be happy when he/she wins it.
Or maybe it will be a cat….or both! 🙂
Those beds sure look nice and comfy and some dog is gonna be darn lucky!
This is a very handsome dog bed. I like that the cover is removable, washable and has a waterproof liner. It’s wonderful to find a bed with non-toxic materials and even the foam is heavy metal, phthalate and chemical flame retardant free . Human grade upholstery and non-crushing foam are a super bonus! As their post says “support and comfort that’s simply stylish”. My girl would love the Runyon in a medium mocha. Christmas wishes!
It really checks off all of my boxes for features too. The non-toxic materials are so important to me!
I want to win the pet bed giveaway for my 70 to 75 pound dog. I really want to win. Liked the brown one. I really want to win.
Good luck, Crystal!!
I love the stylish design of these beds and the memory foam would be awesome!
I can just see Bentley stretched out in comfort….. 🙂
I like that they relieve joint pressure. My pup is a senior now and could use more joint help.
Would love to get one of these beds for Shadow! Ducky has her “nest” bed, but I’m sure Shadow would share.
Luke and Cricket are really good about sharing beds – not at the same time, but they never fight over one. 🙂
LOVE this bed and would so love to have one. Talk about fabulous!
There is absolutely no down side to this bed! 🙂
Wow, that looks like a great bed, and it sounds more comfortable than my bed! Thanks for checking in on us at our blog. We’ll be starting up with new posts as of this Friday. It’s nice to know we’re not easily forgotten! 🙂
Of course. 🙂
I’m sure it’s the same at your house….the pets have nicer things than we do. I wonder if they’d let me review a human bed? LOL
Cricket sure looks like she is enjoying the comfort of her new bed. Luke looks more like Bailie, almost too big for it, but probably still comfy enough.
Luke likes to curl up a lot when he sleeps. If he does feel like stretching out, he just goes to the floor anyway.
that is the perfect place for the saweetest dreams… and YES, it makes a house to a home when you can watch a sleeping dog ;O)
It’s so peaceful and relaxing, even when they’re snoring!
