Have you ever stared into the flames in a wood stove, fireplace, or maybe a campfire or bonfire and been completely mesmerized by it? I find watching those dancing flames completely relaxing.
Dogs do that too.
Seriously, I’ve seen Luke staring at the flames in our wood stove on more than one occasion, and he’s the first of our dogs I’ve ever seen do that (no one loved the wood stove quite as much as our beagles did, but I never noticed them staring at it, seemingly hypnotized, like Luke!).
We are joining our friends at Comedy Plus for the Wordless Wednesday blog hop. Please visit them and other blogs through the links below.
Ginger was like that she loved sitting by the fire outside with her Daddy. Matt likes sitting out there but not as much as she did and doesn’t really stare at it like she did.

It’s always so interesting our dogs’ different personalities, isn’t it? Our beagles loved the fires, but strictly for the heat, I never remember seeing either of them ever watching the flames!
Looks like Luke found the hypnotist that entrances us all when it comes to watching a fire’s flame.
He sure did!
Luke that looks so cozy.
It’s the perfect place to be with the weather we’ve been having lately!
Luke is definitely a contemplative sort, an old soul. Wouldn’t you love to know what he is thinking? I LOVE your fireplace and soooo wish I had one. I am captivated watching it too. Keep warm!
I honestly don’t think I could survive the winter without it!
Luke is definitely an old soul. He has his silly moments but he’s mostly a serious boy, much like our beagle Kobi was. ♥
The flames are mesmerizing. I wonder what Luke is thinking.
Possibly that there is nowhere else he’d rather be on a cold winter’s day!
I love staring into a campfire! We don’t have a fireplace because we never get cold enough.
The campfires were always one of my favorite things about camping, plus with a campfire it doesn’t matter if it’s cold or not! 🙂
Yes – I love gazing at those flames too. None of our dogs are wild about our fires like we are!
Our beagles loved the stove, and our cats too, for the warmth, but Luke is the only one that stares at it like that! LOL
That is a cute shot of Luke.
Thank you, Ellen!
Yes I get all hypnotized too, if we had a fireplace here, I thin k Pipo might enjoy the ‘show’. Not sure what the pups would do…maybe bask in the heat, I imagine!
I bet they would!!
I bet it feels so nice for you, Luke.
There’s nothing more relaxing, cozy, and peaceful than sitting in front of the fire!
I’ve never noticed the pups staring into the fire…but I know I can get lost in the flames!
It’s so relaxing!!
It warms the heart doesn’t it Luke?!?!
It sure does!
There’s nothing like sitting in front of a fireplace – or wood stove – and watching the flames dance as the wood crackles! That was one of the things I loved most about Girl Scout camp when I was a kid. I’m almost jealous of people who have fireplaces, wood stoves, or a place in their yards for a fire pit. And, like Sandee, I love Luke. ❤️
Aw, thank you. We have a fire pit outside too, but rarely use it. We get too comfy on the couch in the evenings. 🙂
I’m mesmerized by Luke. I get it. Pups are all different and Luke is the very best.
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Extra treat for Luke. ♥
He is the best!! ♥
yes yes yes…. they watch the flkames four hours and they get small eyes while watching… maybe in their imagination they burn the vet down or bikers or something they dislike LOL
LOL!! Maybe it’s best we don’t know what they’re thinking, right?
We just have our gas fireplace, but no one looks at it, we just sit near it to stay warm. Mom is scared of real fire and wood fires are too much work, but if someone else has one, it isn’t too bad. Enjoy your wood stove.
Honestly, I don’t like dealing with the wood stove either, I’m also scared of fire. Hubby is the one that takes care of it the most. All I do is add a log here and there when he’s at work to just keep it going.
