The crew is all snuggled into their Nascar blanket, and they’re ready to watch the Great American Race, the Daytona 500 today!
Sheba is worried about “the big one” – a multi-car wreck that often happens on superspeedways, taking a lot of good cars out of the race!
We’ll be rooting for #20 – Matt Kenseth, and #19 – Carl Edwards. My hubby’s favorite driver, the #18 – Kyle Busch, got injured in one of those “big ones” in the lower tier Xfinity series race last night. He’s going to be OK, but will be out of racing for a while. 🙁
Are there any Nascar fans out there who will be watching today? If so, who are you rooting for?

I’m a Jeff Gordon fan, but as everyone knows, it’s my last year. I’ve been disillusioned with the sport for a while now, so it’s probably wise for me to take a break.
And those last few laps where they are three wide and six deep really freak me out, my stomach starts twisting and I can barely sit. LOL
I know, those last laps are rough…if your guy is up there, which mine was not this time! But I love the restrictor plate tracks. I actually just started following Nascar in 2001 as a Michael Waltrip fan. So I know it’s a bummer to have your guy retire. Jeff Gordon is a good guy, and he’s wise to get out while he’s still doing well.
Looks like a fine way to spend the afternoon. I like car races if I can be there, but on tv not so much.
It’s definitely a whole different, and much more exciting, experience to actually be there. We go to one race a year here in NH.
Matt Kenseth ALL THE WAYYYYY!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
YAHOO!!!! Thanks, Jenna, glad to hear you’re with me!
I’ve never watched NASCAR despite living pretty close to one of the tracks for a couple of years.
I got hooked in because we do have a track in our state, so it’s pretty popular around here. We go to at least one race a year most years.
Sunday cuddles!
Nothing better!!
Oh my poor Sheba..she really is not keen on the mayhem hahahhaah 🙂 have fun and make sure the snacks are plentiful 🙂 xx loves Bev XX
We enjoyed it, and had plenty of snacks!! Luckily for Sheba, there wasn’t too much mayhem in this race. 🙂
xxoo
Oh, that last comment I see of yours is funny, I thought the blanket WAS for the doggies, not you! Anyway, good race, Nascar fan here! So loved all the dogs in/on the blanket, and then reading how you say they rearranged it, etc, too funny!! Yup, I am sure they just love hanging out watching with you and Tom!
OH, and the pic of Sheba not being able to watch, big LOL there!! Too funny!!
Thanks, Lynn! Yup, the dogs are happy to watch with us….Luke enjoyed snuggling with me for a while. Sheba went to the floor and Cricket laid with dad in the chair. They just don’t like it when I get upset…which you know happened in this race. LOL
BOL! More like ready to sit on the couch and plant your FACE [in a bunch of blankets]! Hope you guys had fun watching the show! *wags* – Gilligan from WagsAhoy.com
Yeah, they don’t really watch, which you might have figured out. They nap, which is what Dad does half the time too. 🙂 Though in our Monday Mischief post we did show that Luke does watch TV sometimes!
They look so comfy/cozy!!
They’ve got it pretty good….and I usually have to fight for a spot on the futon!
Enjoy the race we’re already watching the Oscar red carpet arrivals (and Downton Abbey later). Love Dolly
That’s fun too….hope you enjoyed!
We’re not Nascar fans, but we hope it’s a good race!
It was a good race, even though my driver didn’t do very well!
We will be watching now that football season is over, but we don’t have a favorite yet.
Most of my family is like that too. My sister runs a little betting pool to make it more interesting for everyone!
I am not a Nascar fan, but we did win a trip to the Atlanta Motor Speedway to see the race that determined the winning driver. I can tell you there are a gazillion Nascar fans! Haha! It was an experience of a lifetime. Good luck to your favorites and I hope its a safe race. I know Melissa’s Mochas, Mysteries & Meows is a huge fan too!
Yes, actually Melissa was the one that inspired me to do a Nascar related post today!
That’s exciting that you went to Atlanta…it is a whole different experience actually being there. We went to this Daytona race in 2004 and I’d love to go again one day.
Good tactic Sheba – I’d be doing that too 🙂
There are times I do that as well! 🙂
That first photo is so much fun!!!
They had fun with it too….I had them covered with the blanket at first, but Cricket felt the need to rearrange it to her own liking!
so cute, I love it when they all sleep together, kevin harvick’s the man today!
Last year’s champion is always a pretty safe bet!
They were jostling to all get arranged on there, and at one point Sheba was on top of Cricket….but they got it all sorted out. 🙂
Enjoy the big race. Hope all the noise and commotion doesn’t disturb your napping time.
As long as nothing bad happens causing the Momz to yell, we’ll be OK. 🙂
Wishing all the drivers a safe day!
We hope for the same!
Great pics of the pups! No NASCAR fans in this house — too noisy, even for hubby who’s deaf in one ear, can’t hear out of the other one, and refuses to admit he needs a hearing aid.
LOL…I’m sure he hears fine (right).
The dogs are just happy that we have a reason to do nothing but hang out with them!
have fun while watching the race from your sofa… and eat some popcorn :o)
Oh yes, snacks are required too, aren’t they? And popcorn sounds like a good idea for one!
Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards & Denny Hamlin! The Gibbs boys! 🙂 hope Kyle recovers quickly. Nice pics of the pups. Enjoy the race!
Yes, of course, Denny too! Hope you enjoy it as well!
Love the bright colors of the blanket. I won’t be watching, don’t really get into car races. Good luck to your peeps.
Thank you! A close friend of mine made that blanket (she pointed out that she made that blanket for me, not the dogs…LOL).
