All day and evening long, the K9 crew is on alert for anything that might infringe upon our perimeter.

When the noses go in the air, and they run to the fence, we know there might be an impending invasion into their territory of – who knows what? They never tell.

There are times something sneaks through, like a deer or a wild turkey, and those are the rare occasions we humans actually get to see the wildlife!

I really like this activity though – it gives them something to do, gets them some exercise, and if anything unwanted actually does come around, possibly to go after our chickens, there’s a good chance we’ll be alerted to it!

Keep up the good work, guys!

Talk about some wonderful guard dogs! My cat likes to watch from the safety of his window while my dog circles around and tried to protect me too.
Good protector dogs! Love Dolly
I have one that likes to bark…in the middle of the night. Oy,
Yeah, we get that sometimes too. If we have a fan in the window, it blows the smells in. We had that happen just last night, but luckily we got them settled back down fairly quickly!
You have a great early detection system! I’m sure they’ll keep you alerted to bears and safe from marauding squirrels.
Everyone should have such a vigilant and diligent security team! (I’ve been meaning to do a post about how Rita “protects” us when we go our in our backyard. It’s pretty funny, but I need to get it on video.)
Oh, I hope you get some video, I’d love to see Rita in action!
It apparent you don’t need to pay for a security system. You’ve got the best thing ever!
At least they’re doing something to earn their keep – LOL!
I’m the same way. I love that our dogs alert us to animals or even odd people who might come down our long driveway! I’m working on a “thank you” cue that will tell them that it’s time to stop… sometimes, they keep going and going!!!!
That’s a good cue, we might have to try that too. If they’re in the house, having Luke go to his mat works pretty well too (most of the time). It does go on and on sometimes, though normally as long as whatever it is leaves, they’ll stop.
We dogs are always in charge of security!
Oh, I’ll bet Brother Simon’s pal Alexa is out there!
Could be….ghostly voices would definitely be something that would set them off!!
Nothing’s going to get by those two!
Nice work, Cricket and Luke! My human mommy is convinced that standing too close to our gate causes my little sister Tallulah to hallucinate. π
Ha ha, yes, we wonder sometimes if they are really seeing anything or not! Maybe they’re just making their own fun. π
Pierre is always certain that something is trying to get in our yard at night. Haha!
A fox or weasel would have to be stupid to try to get after your chickens with Luke and Cricket on the job.
That’s for sure! Actually, we did have a fox sighting the other evening, I saw it first, but once I got the dogs got barking, it ran away (thank goodness).
Great to know you are SUPER well protected!!
Great watch dogs you have there!
Well done gang! You should negotiate for a treat reward after every “outsider” spotting! π
Don’t give them any ideas! Actually, I’m surprised Cricket hasn’t angled for that yet – she uses pretty much any other occasion as an excuse to get a treat! π
Always good to have furry security guards on duty. Our serial killer mail lady gets ‘greeted’ every day and then they realize she’s the one who brings packages from Chewys. Instant love with that realization. ????
Our crew never seems to catch on to that….they hurt our poor mail lady’s feelings every time; even though I’ve told her not to take it personally. π
Good Job, Puppers!!! Protect your property for Momz and Dadz!! Ducky is our champion squirrel chaser, and Shadow? Well, when her arthritis isn’t bothering her, she joins in the fun. But we don’t have any other wildlife – other than the birdies – to worry about.
maybe it is a bear on the way home from his worky place? or maybe it is a night berd who starts his work in the evening?
It has to be tough to have those night jobs! π
Great guarding job, guys! Once in a while, our Layla just goes crazy smelling something on the path we walk on, and we always wonder, what on earth was out here last night???
They never tell, and that drives me crazy! LOL
