Of course we appreciate our black cat Samantha every day! On today’s Thankful Thursday we are especially grateful to have her in our lives. While I couldn’t find the origins of this particular day, we are happy to take this opportunity to say what wonderful pets black cats can make – no silly superstitions about bad luck here! Sam has brought nothing but good to us, and we’re taking this day to spread the word and encourage others to consider adding a good luck black cat to their lives.
In celebration of this day, the ASPCA is holding a special adoption event at their shelter in New York City. Click here to visit their website for details and see the beautiful black cats available at their shelter. Even if you are not near that area, you can observe this day by visiting your local shelter and see the cats they have up for adoption, or just help spread the word to those you know about all the cats in shelters (black and otherwise) who need homes.
Today I am happy to be sharing some recent photos I took of Sam on one of her recent outdoor adventures. It can be difficult to photograph a black cat indoors. Sam has a tendency to hang her head when I’m trying to take pictures of her. Getting her out in the sunshine lifted her head and the light made for some very nice photos, and for that I am thankful!
We are happy to be joining Brian’s Home for the Thankful Thursday blog hop. Please visit other blogs through the links below!
Love that Sam..and those are some wonderful pics indeed, Jan, she sure is holding her head up nicely!! Oh, can’t wait for pumpkin pics with her, should be awesome!!
Now I just need to hope my pumpkins actually grow. So far they’re all still smaller than she is! LOL
Great pictures of Sam outdoors and you’re right I could never see how pretty she is indoors! Love Dolly
I think it’s been a long time since I got any really good photos of her!
Hi Sam, your looking great!
Thank you, JoAnn! ♥
Awww, what a sweet looking kitty. Yeah, black cats and dogs are a real bear to try and photograph. Nice job!
Thank you! I was afraid even outdoors she would be difficult, so I was especially pleased with how they came out!
Samantha looks great in these pictures.
Thank you, Edie!!
Sam is beautiful! It looks like she really enjoyed some outdoor time. I’m always a fan of supporting adoption of black dogs and I think black cats are just as deserving as good home as any other cats, too!
It just seems so silly to me that anyone would hesitate to adopt either a black dog or black cat!
Happy Black Cat Day! I think Samantha is such a lovely lady. *For some reason, your blog is not delivering in my email.
Samantha is a beauty. I know what you mean about photographing them indoors. My 3 black cats are rarely featured on my blog because I never get good photos.
Hopefully at least until winter I’ll be able to share Sam a bit more. I can’t wait to get her in some photos next to some pumpkins this fall!
Black Cats are as beautiful as other cats. Lets give them the love they deserve.
Amen to that – thank you, Crystal!!
Happy Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day (there is a book on Cody’s blog you might be interested in!) and you know we love Samantha! So glad to see her enjoying herself! She looks great!
Thank you, Caren! We will be by to check out Cody’s book soon (getting ready to head out of town right now)!
Happy Black Cat Day, Sam!!!!! You certainly are a pretty kitty!!
Thank you so much, Sue!
Love, Sam
Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day, Sam! You are a beautiful kitty. So glad to hear the ASPCA is holding an adoption event for black kitties there. They do here, too. Zoe has groomed herself for this day and Raja has gotten his best fur shiny as well.

Happy National Black Cat Appreciation Day Sam! We have a black cat too and love him endlessly. Of the three of ours, he has the silliest character – if you can bring it out in him 😉
Please be sure to give your black kitty a hug for us today!
