It’s become somewhat of an annual tradition, not just for me to go to the beach in Maine with my sisters and girlfriends for a long weekend every summer, but for me to be on the lookout for some interesting pet-related finds while I’m there. Even though no dogs come with me, I’m always thinking about them! We went to Ogunquit Beach again this year. Since this was our second year going there, and I shared a lot about it last year, I had to find some new things to post for this year! This huge sculpture at a shop in town made my first find easy.
I had seen this t-shirt on the Facebook page of my favorite little shop in Ogunquit before we even went, so it was already on my shopping list!
Last year the K9 crew got collars from that store, so this year we did something different and got some toys instead. I have a feeling a lot of fun will be had with these sharks! Cue the Jaws music….only I think the sharks might lose this one to Luke!
Mac and Tank the Sharks from Fluff & Tuff can also be found on amazon through our affiliate links:
Mac (large) and Tank (small).
While this little story is not pet-related, it is animal related. This big seagull showed up on the railing of our balcony at our motel, while we were outside having some snacks. We had already heard two stories this year of seagulls on our coast stealing sandwiches right out of people’s hands! Therefore, we were not trusting this guy, and he was not timid….he got quite close, and we ended up retreating inside with our food! He still kept hanging around, and I sent our friend outside to take some photos. We all know getting a camera out is a sure way to get rid of any kind of animal, pet or wildlife! She snapped some shots off, and I think that was the last we saw of him.

Also note our very nice view from our room of ocean, dunes, and river!
Last but not least, for those of you who love the ocean as much as I do, here’s a pretty shot of a sailboat, seen while we walked along the scenic Marginal Way that follows the coast from Ogunquit to Perkins Cove, Maine.
It’s always good to get back home to the furry and feathery crew, while at the same time sad having our annual summer trip behind us already!
I’m so happy you went on your trip this year- I will have mine in October. The ladies are coming to SC – #soexcited. I love all your “finds” especially that lawn ornament!
Girls time is just the best, isn’t it? Keeps us sane. š
Oh, WOW!! I am soooo jealous! I LOVE Maine! And, while I prefer fresh-water lakes to the ocean, I still find any beach without a lot of people on it relaxing. (I grew up near Jones Beach on LI which was ALWAYS overly-crowded, and it made me almost claustrophobic.) I need a vacation but can’t take one any time soon.
I wish you could have a getaway too! I don’t care for the beaches when they are crowded either. Luckily we were able to get out one day in the morning before all the crowds moved in. There’s another beach we like in Maine – York, but it is so small it is always packed full.
What a pretty place and great finds! Mom hopes to visit Maine if they ever retire and this looks like a good place! Love Dolly
Maine is so beautiful, and there are so many nice beaches. I love that they don’t have all the high rises like what we saw in Myrtle Beach.
Sounds like a fun trip…and what a great hotel location! š
We stayed there last year too, and I think we got spoiled. š
What a gorgeous getaway!
What a fun trip…and some cool finds! The pups are gonna love those toys.
Looks like a beautiful, relaxing getaway! When I was little, I lived at the beach and a seagull stole my friend’s mom’s sandwich while we were having a picnic one day. I’m glad your new friend didn’t get any of your food!
We were glad too, and I told him he definitely better not drink or spill our wine either! š
What a beautiful place! We bet Luke and Cricket forgave you since you came home bearing gifts for them š I love that dog garden ornament in the first picture … I want a cat one!
I should have found out more about the sculpture, I bet there just might be a cat version!
Yes, Luke and Cricket forgave me deserting them….though Cricket wanted to know why I didn’t bring home treats too! LOL
I love visiting pet stores in different areas and we can usually be seen there instead of souvenir shops! Wow! You had a beautiful view of the ocean. Color me green with envy. LOL!
We paid all the money to get that view – but it was worth it!
It sure looks like you had a wonderful time! The Dad loves beaches too and anything to do with being around water, me not so much!
What a great trip, my vet has that same sculpture.
Oh, that’s so cool…I’d like to find one for my yard (doubt I could afford it though – LOL)!
Now that looks like a shop I would LOVE to visit!
You and I could probably spend hours in there, and it’s not even that big! š
Oh my dawg, that statute is beyond furbulous! Almost makes me want to take up welding! What a cool area for a summer visit on the beach.
It’s a nice little town with lots of shops and restaurants, and we love that we can walk everywhere once we get there too.
That looks like a beautiful place. Seagulls are so brazen, everywhere it seems.
Lovely! We live only about 20 minutes from the shore, so since we’ve all spent most of our lives going there during the summer, we now wait until the crowds are gone and go in the fall or spring just to enjoy the sand, waves and community without the noise and craziness. And there’s a quiet dog-friendly beach where we like to take Daisy every year too! š
If I lived closer, I would definitely like to visit more often, and at quieter times. The off times of year are when they are dog friendly too…I don’t know of any full time dog friendly beaches in that area of Maine, though there are some that allow dogs early morning and in the evenings. This one says no dogs at all, yet I still saw a couple on the beach!
So beautiful! Mama says our seagulls down here would just pose fur da picsur cause they are stubborn š BOL
We are glad you had a good time!
xoxo,
Matt (& Matilda)
Yeah, I’m actually surprised that worked….we couldn’t chase him away by running at him waving our arms…he’d just hop a couple feet down on the railing!!
what a sweet idea to buy a real maine shark for the pups… and maybe you can bring the naughty seagull too? I bet Luke had a blast ;o)
Oh boy, wouldn’t they have some fun with that seagull!!
