Included in our final #ShareGratitude post today: Black Friday, Sisters, Friends, Bling, Sales & Giveaways (and yes, somehow these all tie together!)
Black Friday, Sisters, Friends
I know a lot of people aren’t fans of Black Friday. For me, it’s a special day. Right after this post goes live, I will head out shopping with my two sisters and two girlfriends. This year we are headed to northern NH to shop the outlet stores and quaint downtown shops of North Conway. It’s not so much about the shopping; it’s more about girl time. We spend one night at a nice motel and enjoy eating out and visiting. We don’t go for the special sales, we go for this simple reason: Everyone has the day off from work, we can shop for two days and we still have a day at home before having to go back to work. It also leaves December weekends open for other Christmas activities. I am grateful for what is now an annual tradition that we look forward to every year.
Friends, Bling, Sales
Today I also feel grateful for other friends – my pet blogger friends. Even though I haven’t met any of you in person yet, you have become important to me. This group of people is not competitive as you might expect; they are supportive, helpful, and caring. I am also so grateful for every person that comes by to read this blog, I consider you all my friends as well.
In that spirit, for those of you who are staying home on this crazy shopping weekend, I want to share a couple of blogger friends’ businesses, and let you know about some sales and giveaways. Since Thanksgiving is over and we can officially think about Christmas now, I’m thinking about bling. Christmas is a sparkly time, with silver, gold, and colorful decorations. I try not to be materialistic, but I do love some pretty jewelry. Even though I’m more of a jeans and t-shirt type of girl, when I go out I like to dress up. These days when I dress up I like some of my jewelry to reflect my love of animals. Luckily I have two great places to find that kind of bling, along with some other pet related items.

I’ve shared For Love of a Dog jewelry on my blog before. I’ve bought jewelry there, won some from other sites, and even given some away. Each piece of Sue’s jewelry is handmade and unique. She offers a variety of jewelry as well as ornaments, dog leash holders, and more. All products include free shipping to USA addresses. Sue is having a huge sale from Black Friday through Cyber Monday. On top of the already discounted prices, you can use our own discount code: WAGNWOOF (case sensitive). By providing this code at checkout you will receive an additional 10% off your order ($24 minimum purchase). This code is good until midnight 12/31/14!
I’ve also shared beautiful jewelry that I bought from my friend Jenna’ s Pawz & Clawz store. Jenna is in business with her mother and they sell handmade jewelry as well as other items for pet lovers, such as our favorite Damien’s Best dog toys and wood crafted pet signs and blocks. Almost all of their products are customizable, and shipping is a flat $4.00 worldwide. They are currently running a promo where you can have an item gift wrapped and mailed to wherever you would like. Many of us have out of town friends and family, so this is a great idea! Also watch for a 12 days of Christmas sale event starting on Monday!
More Sales & Giveaways
I also want to remind you that 4Knines is having a huge sale today through Monday on their automobile cargo covers and seat covers and their dog bed liners. Everyone with pets needs one of these to help keep their car and home clean! We are also giving away a cargo cover and if you haven’t entered yet, click here to be taken to the giveaway page. Our giveaway ends Sunday at midnight so time is running out!
In addition we are giving away this great book PETCAM by Chris Keeney. Click here to read my review and enter to win your own copy! This giveaway is open through Wednesday night. This book would make a great stocking stuffer.
Last but not least, the huge Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers begins on Monday. Stayed tuned for 24 days of giveaways. If you follow us on Facebook , Twitter, Pinterest, or Google+ you will be able to find links to each day’s giveaways on there, and some will also be right here on the blog, as well as at Kol’s Notes (where all the giveaways are hosted), Heart Like a Dog, Dogthusiast and NEPA Pets. Come join the fun and see what you can win!
This blog hop is hosted by Cascadian Nomads, Oz the Terrier, Loved by a Collie, and Kitty Cat Chronicles. Thanks for hosting such a great hop!
Oh my, these things are lovely! I missed Black Friday’s offer, what a pity! 🙁
There might still be sales going on!
Hope you had a nice time shopping. When I was younger I was a shopper, but now I am not too thrilled with the crowds. Your weekend does sound fun though.
We had a great time, thanks. Every year we spend less and less time shopping, and more time eating or at the motel with a glass of wine!
Now that sounds like the best kind of Black Friday event! Mom cyber’d her way through her shoppin’ already, but I don’t thing she’s gotten anything for little ol’ me. I’m gonna show her all these doggy sites. Maybe somewhere we can find a likeness of me!
I bet you could, Sage, and I bet your Mom would love something like that for Christmas!
Great list of gifts! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
We did, and hope you did as well!
I wore my For Love Of A Dog golden retriever pin to Thanksgiving dinner. 🙂
Glad you and your sisters and friends have found a meaningful and fun way to enjoy Black Friday. It certainly beats strangling people to get the first shot at a cheap television set.
I wore my WOOF pendant from For Love of A Dog to Thanksgiving dinner as well! 🙂
I think we girls represent the Christmas spirit better than all the crazies out there on Black Friday. We dress in our festive Christmas shirts, and honestly, the wait staff at the restaurants we go to are always so thrilled to see us ….we instill Christmas spirit for sure, and hopefully cancel out the negative aspects of Black Friday, for some anyway. 🙂
the jewellery-pup on the right side looks a little like me :o) sadly I’m a little late, so the black friday is over… but maybe next year you could take my mom with you? she would like to go shopping that day… and me and my dad have a qiet time while she buys all balck things :o)
That does look like you, Easy! We’d love to have your Mom come with us! Then you boys can have quiet time and she can bring you home something black. Just tell Dad he needs to give her his credit card. 🙂
Enjoy your shopping with your friends. It sounds like you have a much better plan than all the crazies that head for the malls, camping out overnight, etc.
Yes, we try not to be too crazy about it. LOL. We don’t usually hit our first store until late morning (having breakfast on the way is far more important)!
I’m a jeans-and-t-shirt kinda gal, too; and don’t even enjoy dressing up any more. If I can’t wear my jeans somewhere, I just don’t go. I spent most of my life having to dress-up for one thing or another — school, church, work, etc. — and now that hubby and I are both retired, I wear what’s comfortable, period. Your shopping trip with family and friends sounds like fun; but I hate crowds so I’d have to find a different activity for us girls. I love our “little” community of pet bloggers, too, and for the same reasons. I just don’t know how you all have time to post something almost every day of the week! I barely have time to read everyone else’s posts, never mind to write/publish my own. And now that hubby’s retired, I have even less time for “just me” or “just the dogs and me”!
For the most part, I post 5 days per week, and that’s really my limit. I pushed hard last week to get a full week’s worth so I could take the weekend off! It’s not easy, that’s for sure.
My job outside the home is at a casual general store, so it’s been years since I had to dress up for work!
I think the older we get, the more important comfort becomes over vanity.
It seems like I hear from a lot of retired people that they don’t have any free time….makes you wonder how any of us find the time to work! LOL
Paws clapping! What a bunch of great Christmas items! I love Sue and Jenna’s jewelry lines. The hubby and I are heading out to a couple of stores in a few minutes. Black Friday is the only day that I enjoy shopping. We loved going at 4:00 a.m. but now that they open on Thanksgiving, our stores aren’t opening that early. Have a fun bargain-filled time!
We had a lot of fun, and hope you did too!! I was starting to think we were the only ones out here who really liked Black Friday shopping. 🙂 We found lots of good bargains!
WOW! That is a ton of great stuff!!!! I truly appreciate you giving our shop a mention, and am glad you were happy with your purchase!!
I hope you have a blast shopping!!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
You are very welcome, and I hope your sale goes well. I did have lots of fun shopping, thank you, but now I need to regroup and finish up from home!
I’m so glad we found each other in blogville. Some really great stuff! Love Sue’s work!
I am so glad too, thank you!!
Happy shopping. My mom doesn’t like crowds at all. She was locked up in an airplane for eleven years with passengers and since then, she avoids crowds like the plague. We know many humans enjoy shopping this weekend, but Mom has her shopping done ahead of time to avoid the people. Have a great time!
I don’t blame your Mom at all. We had lots of fun, but there were a couple stores I had to get out of because I got claustrophobic. But for the most part the crowds weren’t too, too bad.
Thanks so much for the shout out and your very lovely comments about For Love of a Dog. I greatly appreciate it! Although I’m all for everyone staying home on Black Friday and shopping online (heh, heh) , I love your getaway. What a wonderful holiday ritual. Sounds like the perfect beginning to the holiday season.
You are very welcome!
It is a great ritual and a great kick off to the season…it really puts me in the Christmas mood early!
