We are joining Ruckus the Eskie for his Sepia Saturday blog hop today. The only rules for this hop are that it be sepia related (pet or non-pet), and have fun! Grab the badge, link to the host, and join in the fun!
I mentioned in my post about Kobi “A Good Life” that we used to go boating years ago. When looking for photos for that post, I found a lot of him enjoying himself in the boat, and I wanted to share some of those happy memories today.
His favorite place to be was in the front of the boat looking around and watching the sights go by. However, one time, he actually fell out of the boat when we were moving. Kobi could swim, but he didn’t like to! He was not impressed, and of course we got him back into the boat safely, but it scared the heck out of me. From then on, he either was wearing his life jacket or I held onto him with a leash whenever the boat was moving.
This was my husband’s fishing boat, so we were often out on the water for hours. There was a storage cubby hole in the front of the boat, and when he got tired, Kobi would climb in there for a nap!
This final photo is my favorite of the ones that I found.
What beagle or hound dog doesn’t love to have his ears flapping in the wind? This is why he always wanted to be in the front of the boat!
Happy Sepia Saturday! Apparently the linky list for the blog hop is down right now, so I will try to come back and add it later when it’s back up again. **Update – I think it’s working now, more or less anyway!**
Beautiful pictures. I love that last one too.
Thank you. I just love those hound dog ears!
Thanks for sharing these memories of Kobi with us. He looks as if he was very at home on the boat. 🙂
He really was, and so was his sister Maggie. Maggie loved to swim unlike him though….and she would patiently wait for the boat to stop and for us to tell her it was OK to jump in. Kobi would just watch her from the boat!
Hi dear friend! A couple of thoughts on this post:
1) Kobi’s memories: Thank you for sharing Kobi’s adventures with me on Sepia Saturday. I feel so honored that you feel the comfort to share on this hop with the rest of the crew. We love Kobi and we love reading about the fun times you have together!
2) Not afraid of water? Man Kobi you are a true rockstar. I would probably be scare of falling over!
3) Hidden nap area: That is just too funny and precious. I love that you were able to capture Kobi in the little hideout
4) Flapping of the ears: Yes! I didn’t think it was possible but you made it possible!
5) Congrats! You are the first one to get linkytool to work on you! Haha everyone else couldn’t get their images to show up. See you next week on Sepia Saturday! Hopefully LinkyTool won’t act up again.
Ok that’s my whole thought on this wonderful post. Sorry it’s so long!
I love long comments, Ruckus, and thank you for those great thoughts!! I’ve really come to love the Sepia Saturday hop….I love how sepia gives the photos that old fashioned look, and it’s perfect for sharing memories….I’m so glad you started it.
Ha ha, the only reason I was the first one to get my image to show up is because I’m always late for everything! Sometimes, as is in this case, it does pay off though!
Those are some great photos, Miss Jan! I have never been on a motor boat…just a canoe…but I love being in front too!
Happy Monday!
Oz
Thank you, Oz! I always wanted to take Kobi out in my kayak, but I never did. I’m sure he would have loved that too.
Just beautiful 🙂 Thinking of you and thank you for sharing those wonderful photo’s xxxoxxxx
Mollie and Alfie
Thank you! I’m so glad you came by to share in my memories with me. xxxxxooooo
What awesome photos! The last one made me smile Jan. Beagles are adorable, I had no idea they liked boats though. 🙂
Thank you, Mel. You wouldn’t expect beagles to love a boat, would you? They really aren’t water lovers…even Kobi wasn’t, but his sister Cricket actually does love the water. I’m not sure if she would have liked the boat though, she never went out in it before my hubby sold it.
Beautiful memories, glad you shared them.
Thank you for inspiring me to do that a little more.
What great memories – warms your heart to see Kobi having so much fun.
It’s wonderful to be able to look back and see the good, happy life he had.
What precious photos and we love that one with the ears in the wind too. So sad he is gone!
Thank you, Emma. I just love those hound dog ears, and miss them so much…..he loved to have those ears rubbed!
HI Y’all!
What pawed one doesn’t love ridin’ in the bow of the boat?!
Perfect post for when half the country is buried in the cold white stuff!
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Yup, that has to be high on the list of doggie fun!!
It was nice to escape the white stuff for a little bit, and imagine being out on the water with a warm breeze in our faces!
your photos are delightful and so deeply moving. Thanks so much for sharing with all of us ((((hugs))))
Thank you, Caren, I am so glad you enjoyed them. Thanks especially for the hugs too!
That sure looked like fun!
That it was!!
Our Shetland Sheepdog was big on boating too. She would always go out with my dad on the boat and loved it. I took Shiner before, and it wasn’t the best experience. I was afraid she was going to jump out while me and Lily rode in the tube behind the boat. She seemed too anxious that we were doing that!
I’m not sure how our current girls would do with it….both Sheba and Cricket can be kind of timid so they might be nervous (neither likes riding in the car really either). I still miss it though and wish we could try it again!
Such beautiful photos! Great memories to keep with you.
Our dogs come fishing with us also!
I know you have been super busy and occupied with all that has happened.
I am wondering though when you have some time if you could possibly shoot me an email. I have been having major issues with share it buttons, and my goal is to have them like yours. I have tried everything!
If you have time at some point to give me a hand I sure would appreciate it..
My email is markandjenna01@gmail.com
There is no rush, as I said I realize things are not great for you right now, I just wanted to leave my Addy for you, when u do get a chance.
Thanks so much for your help!
((Husky hugz))
Thank you! I will shoot you an email soon, I am happy to help….probably tomorrow. I need to look up and see what my share buttons are called! I tried several before I settled on these, and they do seem to work fine and do what I need. I’ll be in touch!
Oh that’s great! Thanks SO much!!!!!!
Its been such a headache!!
Have a great weekend!!
