Just three weeks ago I was ordering some supplies for the dogs and I had to meet a minimum order for free shipping. That happens to me a lot, so usually I’ll pick up a toy for the dogs. I picked out this cute “Hank the Moose” toy. Hank was certainly a hit, as you can see in the short video below of Luke playing with him.
Hank lived less than a week. Only 3 days after we got him, he looked like this.
Luckily for us, just days after Hank’s demise, I received a message from West Paw Design that I had won a random drawing on their Facebook page. They were doing some Earth Day giveaways, and just because I had liked their page, I won 5 free toys! We have many West Paw toys, they are my absolute favorite, oh, and the dogs love them too. I got to pick whatever 5 toys we wanted! Of course, they were a hit also.
The ball was Cricket’s favorite, as always, and yesterday I posted a sweet photo of her sleeping with it. They soon had to take it outside to play with it. The Jive ball is made of an awesome material called Zogoflex, and these toys last a long, long time. They stand up very well to Sheba’s obsessive chewing.
I think Luke’s favorite of the stuffed toys was the snake. Mr. Snake didn’t live long either, though he did last over a week before he got a lobotomy.
Notice the hole is his head, and the flatness of it. The head is where the squeaker was – don’t worry, I recovered the squeaker as soon as I saw the hole in the head, and I let Luke de-stuff it and then collected the stuffing up also (though since West Paw’s toys are all made in the USA I don’t worry as much if they eat a little bit here and there).
We also got a toy for the cats. Samantha loves the caterpillar, but Conrad doesn’t really have any interest in toys. He sniffed it and then lost interest.
Sam also loved the paper which must have smelled like catnip. Of course, there’s also the best toy/bed that comes with every shipment:
Luke tried to steal his sister’s toy, more than once!
We also received this Loopies toy, called the Specter, in our most recent BarkBox. He is still kicking around, though minus one ear. Apparently the dogs weren’t too afraid of his ghostly name!
I think Sheba has been teaching Luke how to “kill” the toys. Or, she gets it started and he continues. Cricket seems to be most interested in a stuffed toy once it is
“half dead” too. We had actually stopped buying stuffed toys for a while because they were so destructive. But our golden Moses seemed so sad to not have any that we started again, and then of course when Luke came we had to get him some toys too. It’s OK, we know what we’re getting into when we get them. We have the Zogoflex toys that last, and the stuffed toys come and go. As long as the dogs are having fun, that is what matters the most!
Disclaimer: We are only sharing these toys because we enjoy them, we were not compensated in any way by any of these companies. We won the West Paw toys only because we are Facebook fans.

Amazon always gets me with that “spend five dollars more and you’ll get free shipping” line. Works every time.
So sorry to hear about Hank. We’ve lost many a “furry friend” that way too. Toby and Meadow are both relentless with their toys. But awesome that you won five more!
And yeah, the boxes are always a big hit here too. Even before we started doing Nose Work. 🙂
At least we always have the free boxes, if we don’t think we can spend any more on toys that don’t live long!
Oh, I know, I get sucked in by that free shipping stuff all the time…I dread to think how much stuff I buy that I don’t really need just to get it!
We just read about y’all on Molly’s blog and wanted to drop by and say, “hi.” We are a furmily of eight cats with nine angel kitties and two angel doggies coming before us. The photo of Samantha in the box is so cute. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Aw, thank you, and thank you so much for coming by to visit us! Wow, what a huge family you have….we will be by to see what you get up to.
They really are fun toys, at least for a little while!
They’re fun while they last!
Everyone looks like they are having fun with the toys…and all the better because you won some of them! They need to make more toys without squeakers. Hate to worry about them.
I agree….it’s almost impossible to find a stuffed toy without a squeaker, I just don’t get it.
We were lucky to win some, considering their short life it’s nice to get some free ones! 🙂
Wez back and haz mizzed you guy’z 🙂 That look’z juzt like my stuffie Bawahwhhahahaha xxoxxxx
Mollie and Alfie
Welcome back!! We have missed you too! I bet you have lots of toys that look just like that Mollie!
xxxxoooo
That’s a lot of hard work you had guys!! I often set about changing the style of my toys and mum intervenes and tells me to ‘play nicely’ – doh!
Have fun,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Thanks, Snoopy! The humans just don’t seem to appreciate all of our hard work, or understand that we’re just re-styling them!
Your friends, Sheba, Cricket, and Luke
We have given up on stuffed toys. Pierre tries to kill all toys! Our Skineeez Platypus has lasted the longest!
It’s so hard to believe that sweet little Pierre is a killer! 🙂
Oh no! Poor lobotomized snake! My most recent kill was my wooly mammoth toy. Its face ripped where one of the tusks is attached. I guess more appendages make the toys weaker…but they’re the best parts to chew on!
Those are the best parts. Even better is when I forget to take the tag off….Luke loves to do that part….LOL. This crew would love a wooly mammoth, I’m sure!
Stuffed toys don’t last too long at my house either. Luke sure loved that moose
He really did have a ball with it! That went on for quite a while too, I cut out a lot of the video I had taken.
I think Hank the Moose would have lasted 5 minutes here! I do love those West Paw Design toys. They are the only toys I have, besides some antlers, that Shiner hasn’t destroyed yet.
They are the only indestructible toys I have found. Some last longer than others, but they all end up destroyed sooner or later, if they’re not zogoflex.
Luke and Bailie could really do some good damage together! Don’t know why all of the sudden she has taken to killing toys, but we sure hope it doesn’t last!
I have a feeling Luke and Bailie together would make for A LOT of Monday Mischief posts!
I can’t imagine the amount of toys you must go through. I’m so lucky that Maggie has no interest and Jack’s is sporadic. Although I don’t have the fun of watching them play either…so not sure if I’m that lucky after all.
It is fun to watch them play. I used to get so frustrated with the destruction, but I just had to realize that that is part of the fun for them, and they are so intent on it when they’re doing it! We use boxes for toys too, since those are free, they also have fun with them.
Kobi never had any interest in toys either once he was over 3-4 years old. The girls haven’t outgrown it, but Luke has really sparked their interest in them more.
My huskies love that specter toy from bark box!!!!! They fight over it all the time!!! Looks like you got a TON of great stuff!!!! have frun!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Funny story about that one I forgot to share…I had put it away in the closet because they had so many other toys at the time. One day Luke snuck into the closet and came out with the toy! I let him keep it of course!
