Before sharing this week’s adoptable kitty, I wanted to share a story I heard on my local news recently about a unique fundraising event for Manchester Animal Shelter in Manchester, New Hampshire.
A local startup company called VidFall, a shopping/auction website where you can get reduced prices by watching sponsored videos, came up with a clever idea to promote their business while also raising money and awareness for the adoptable pets at MAS. They stashed envelopes with cash in them around the city, and by going to their website and watching videos, you could get clues as to where the money was hidden. Each envelope could have anywhere from $5 – $50. The envelope also contained a photo of an adoptable pet. When finding the envelope, if you then shared a photo of yourself with the contents of the envelope on Facebook, VidFall would match the amount of your winnings as a donation to the shelter.
I thought this was a pretty cool idea and judging by the photos on their Facebook page, a lot of people played along in this “Cash Stash“, which they ran for two days. If I lived closer to Manchester (we’re just over an hour away), I might have played along!
This week’s adoptable cat, named Noreena, is at Manchester Animal Shelter. Noreena is a small and quiet 6 year old girl. She recently had some dental work done which got her feeling better. She is sweet, cute, and polite; it sounds like she would make a wonderful addition to any home! She is house-trained, spayed, and up to date on shots. All adoption fees include microchip as well, and all cats have been tested for FIV (feline AIDS) and FeLV (feline leukemia). You can visit her Petfinder page by clicking here.
**UPDATE: NOREENA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!**
A bit about Manchester Animal Shelter: Founded in 1996, they are a non-profit, no-kill shelter rescuing stray and abandoned animals off the streets of Manchester, NH. In almost 20 years they have helped over 18,000 animals. They have a low cost spay/neuter program as well as many other wonderful programs including a special one just for Pit Bulls, called Fix-A-Pit.
