The Meet the Bloggers blog hop is brought to you by: I Still Want More Puppies, Go Pet Friendly, Kol’s Notes, Life With Desmond, No Dog About It Blog, The Daily Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies, CindyLu’s Muse, Bringing Up Bella, Heart Like A Dog, Rescued Insanity, Peggy’s Pet Place, and NEPA Pets.
This group of bloggers got together and decided that we needed to share a bit more of ourselves on our blogs, instead of just our pets. You do see me in photos on here from time to time, and I’ve even shared some stories about myself, but for the most part I am a very private person, and sharing about myself is not always easy. However, I sure would like to know more about my fellow bloggers, so it seems only fair that I join in and share about myself!
We were asked to include a current photo of ourselves and given a list of questions to choose from and were asked to answer at least 5 of them:

1. What’s your favorite non-animal related movie? My favorite movie of all time is the 1973 classic “The Sting”. It is the story of a young con man in 1930’s Chicago who teams up with the master of the big con to avenge the murder of his partner. It stars Paul Newman and Robert Redford. You actually have to watch it 2 or 3 times to catch all the details of the con….but with those two actors in it, that isn’t really so hard to do!
2. What’s your favorite holiday? My first thought was Christmas, but as much as I love it, Christmas is always so hectic. So I’d have to say Thanksgiving. It’s all about family, thankfulness, and togetherness, and that’s the best (all the food is pretty good too). Plus it kicks off the Christmas season!
3. What’s your favorite meal? New England boiled dinner. My mom always made it with ham (not corned beef), and that’s the way I love it. Ham, potatoes, carrots, and cabbage. My hubby doesn’t like the cabbage, but it’s not complete without it!
4. What do you like to do in your free time? Free time? What’s that? Since I’ve started blogging I really don’t have much of that anymore. But other than playing or exercising with the dogs, my next favorite activity is gardening.

5. If you could change one thing about your life what would it be? I wish I had learned earlier in life how much I loved dogs. (I was 30 years old when I found out what dogs were really all about). I would have pursued a career in the pet industry. Not being a veterinarian, because medical science is not my thing. But I might have tried to become a dog trainer.
6. What’s one thing you could do to be kind to yourself? Give myself a break. I try to do it all, and I pretty much don’t let up on myself unless I’ve accomplished what I feel I needed to every day. I constantly have several “to do” lists going, and I can’t relax until I’ve at least crossed off a few things.
OK, enough about me!! Follow the links below and read about my fellow bloggers!
Thanks for joining the blog hop Jan, what awesome answers you had!
We always had dogs growing up and they were family dogs, but not like my dogs are for me today. I wish I’d found out sooner how important they were to me and the proper way to raise/train them. I don’t know that I would have pursued an animal related career, but I think I could have done better by my earlier dogs. 🙂
Thank you, Jodi, I originally wasn’t going to join in, but I’m so glad I did. What a great turnout you had!
Our first two dogs were very good dogs, considering that at that time I knew nothing about how to properly raise or train them. Luckily my hubby had dogs his whole life so he knew more than I did. But even with the current group I feel like we could have done better. We have big plans for Luke to raise him right!
Great to read more about you Janet! Gardening is a good one… I probably should have added that one onto my list too.
Thanks, Ann! Gardening is such a nice way to enjoy the outdoors, isn’t it?
So nice to meet you. So glad you found your inner dog lover. I didn’t find my inner cat lover until three years ago.
Nice to meet you too, Susan. You have quite a crew of cats for a new cat lover! Making up for lost time? LOL…I think that might be why we have 4 dogs!
Ah yes! Free time and a blog? Not a chance at my house either. I also keep to-do lists, but I am constantly adding to it. LOL!
I now want to see The Sting. I have had plenty of opportunities to see it, but always had something else to do. I love movies that make you think so I will be adding that one to my Netflix list. Thanks!
Nice to meet you!
If you’re like me, you cross one thing off your list, and then add 5 more! LOL
I hope you enjoy the movie when you get around to watching it!
That was fun and we really enjoyed learning more about you!
Thank you, Brian!!
I know I have already commented LOL 🙂 But I thought I would let you know I have joined the hop today at #91 in case you would like to stop by!
Thanks for letting me know, there are so many on the list, I might not have gotten to yours for quite a while! 🙂
Oh yay, another gardener amongst us! 🙂 So glad you joined the hop. It is fun reading everyone’s answers.
Oh The Sting, I have to go back and watch it again now! Great choice. Not so sure about the NE boiled dinner though. (Says the New Englander. 😉
What mountain was that picture taken on? You’re not in New England, are you?
My parents always had gardens once we moved to NH. So it’s always been a love of mine, even though it can be frustrating at times! I even bought a greenhouse a couple years ago so I could start my own seedlings early in the season.
I think I reminded myself I’d like to watch The Sting again too, it’s been quite a while!
I loved that film. So great to get to know you. have a super duper Christmas. Big hugs xxxooxxx
Mollie and Alfie
Thank you, Mollie & Alfie. Hope you and your Mom also have a wonderful Christmas!! xxxooo
I enjoyed reading your Q&A and seeing the face behind the blog. 🙂
Thank you! I think I avoided the more difficult questions but hopefully everyone learned a little about me! 🙂
So nice to meet you! Thanks for joining the blog hop 😉 I’m with you – I didn’t get my first dog until I was in my 30’s – I wish I had realized earlier how much I love having a dog!!
It’s such a fun hop, and I’m happy for all the new bloggers I’m meeting!
I guess we just have to squeeze more dog love into the rest of our lives, since we missed out early on. I wonder if that’s why I can’t resist having 4 dogs? 🙂
Love that picture of you and Kobi! Was fun learning about you!
Thank you!! Kobi is not a real snuggler, but he puts up with it when I insist! 🙂
I prefer Thanksgiving over Christmas too. I don’t spend the time or effort to decorate my own house but I DO like all of the decorations and the pine smell of Christmas. However, I agree that it can be too stressful. It has also become very consumer based. Thanksgiving at my family is all about spending time with and enjoying each other.
It is always fun to see all the other Christmas decorations out there, I really enjoy that. We always have a nice day when I get together with my family, but all the work to get there can just be overwhelming!
I love the pictures of you two! So cute! Thanks for sharing all of this about you, it’s fun to learn who is behind the blogs!
Thank you! This really has been lots of fun, and I still have more blogs to visit too!
So do you put mustard on your ham? I’d never liked cabbage AT ALL until I married a man from New England. Now one of my favorite dishes is corned beef and cabbage, with potatoes, onion, apple and carrots, but I make it in the crockpot. The kids request it for their birthday dinners. OM NOM NOM.
No, no mustard on ham unless it’s on a sandwich! 🙂 I didn’t know your hubby was from New England. I do also like corned beef, but prefer ham given a choice. Your recipe in the crock pot sounds awesome!
Thanks for sharing a little about yourself! You are so right that you have to watch The Sting quite a few times to get all the nuances of the con. Well worth it! It’s been great seeing photos of my fellow pet bloggers.
This is a fun hop, it is good to see the faces behind the words and pets. I’m glad to know others like my favorite movie (and I’m not the only one who didn’t “get it” all the first time around)!
Nice to “meet” you! Love Dolly
Thank you, Dolly, so glad you came by!
What pretty hair you have! So nice to see you and learn more about you! I love The Sting too! I remember my parents went to see it in the theater when it came out, and they looked at each other at the end and both just turned back to the screen and sat through it again!
I wish I was better at gardening! I have a black thumb!
Thank you, Jackie!
I don’t actually remember when I first saw The Sting, but I don’t think it was at the theatre. I was only 12 when it came out, I think I might have seen it on TV later (no VCR’s or videos back then either!).
I didn’t really say I was that good at gardening….lol…I’m just persistent at it!!
I had no idea of this blog hop today and have already joined wordless Wednesday but I’ll join up next week, I think it’s a great idea, getting to know the blogger! Great getting to know a little better
, I love your pic! ((Hugs)) from your husky pals at “love is being owned by a husky”
Thank you! It is great, I’m glad they decided to do this. Thanks for coming by to learn more about me, it’s back to the dogs after this! 🙂
Hugs back!!
Nice to meet you!!
Likewise!
I love everything about The Sting except for explaining what’s going on over and over for my husband. 🙂
It’s fun to learn something new about blogging buddies besides that they like dogs.
LOL – I never watched it with my hubby, but I can bet I’d be doing the same thing!
It is fun to learn new things about each other and find things we might have in common.
Nice to learn more about you! My mom regrets not becoming a veterinarian but in her 20’s she wasn’t really thinking I guess. She would never make it as a dog trainer because she dislikes rules and stuff, but vet would have been her thing. I will post about her tomorrow.
A lot of us weren’t really thinking when we were in our 20’s! I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life then, and it actually took me a very long time to figure that out.
The Sting sounds like a really cool movie! My dad loves watching retro films so I’ll have to look into this one and give it a watch with him 🙂
I think you’ll both love it! But you might have to watch it more than once to get it all!
Nice to get to know you! Poor you, yes you should of had pet’s in your childhood, every child should have a pet. Hope you have a relaxing day.
Thanks! Well, we did have cats when we were a little older, but only when we begged my Dad after two strays wandered into our yard.
Yay! Loved reading about you and seeing your smiling face today. Glad you joined the hop.
Absolutely love Paul Newman & Robert Redford!
Thanks! This was such a great idea for a hop, so thanks for having it!
I love Thanksgiving, even though I’m originally from Canada, (we celebrate in October), American Thanksgiving has always been so enjoyable, and its something I miss while living abroad.
Great to meet you!
Maggie
Thanks, Maggie! I know I have been by your blog from time to time, but I need to visit more often!
I like The Sting too, great movie. And i totally agree om Thanksgiving. Family and food with no stress and pressure.
Glad I’m not alone on that movie! Even if I host Thanksgiving at my house for family, which only happens every few years, it still feels way less stressful than Christmas. (and way less commercialized)
Nice to meet you!
I also didn’t get a dog until The Husband wore me down and we got Moses – when I was… 24 I think. An adult, anyway. Changed everything, would never look back!
Nice to meet you too, Jen! Oh, we had a Moses too….love that name! I’m glad for both of us that we had hubbies that love dogs and talked us into it. It changed my life too and I would never look back either.
Hi Jan, nice to learn a little more about you. The Sting was a great movie! But I thought New England boiled dinner would have been lobster?
Well, I can see why you might think that, but it is not lobster traditionally anyway. And it’s definitely not for me, because I’m allergic to shellfish! I used to be able to eat it, and I really, really miss lobster (and clams, scallops, shrimp). 🙁
Great to meet you! Loving this blog hop- finding some excellent new blogs to follow! Looking forward to reading more of yours in the future x
Likewise! This is a great hop, and I can’t believe all the new blogs I am finding to love. I’m happy you’ll be coming back.!
How much fun was that??? Love seeing the pretty face behind the great blog!
So much fun, and thank you very much, Caren!
