I think from now on I’m going to call these posts where I gather together some odds and ends “Housekeeping Day”! It’s been kind of a crazy week here so I just didn’t have time to do all my research for my next post in the vaccine series, but I promise that will be back next week and the topic planned is rabies vaccines.
Today we want to give thanks for a recent award, and we have a book giveaway as well! I also want to remind you about the Pose A Pet™ app we featured this week. If you download the premium app this week, 50% of the proceeds go to Peace and Paws Dog Rescue, which is the rescue Luke came to us through. You can read more about the app by clicking here.
Last week we received this lovely award from our friend Jenna at Love is Being Owned by a Husky! We want to give a huge thanks to Jenna, it really makes me feel good that we are thought of as inspiring. As part of accepting the award, we are supposed to say three things that inspired us this week.
- My dogs always inspire me…their refusal to let anything get them down. When Luke’s knee pops out, and he’s running around on 3 legs like it’s a normal thing; when Cricket hurts herself playing (so far only mildly) and limps over to me and throws the ball down in front of me; and when Sheba has an arthritis flare up but is still at the door waiting to go outside, and turns to me with her usual “are we playing?” look. When I whine about my own aches and pains, I have to think of them and keep moving forward.
- The people of the city of Boston. This coming Monday is the Boston Marathon and the two year anniversary of the bombings there. While in the midst of the trial of the younger Tsarnaev brother, and all of the reminders of this tragic event across the media, everyone still keeps going on. I admire anyone who can run in a marathon anyway, and the people who were injured, even losing limbs, and the families of those who lost loved ones and are carrying on are very inspiring.
- I’ve made no secret of the fact that it was a long hard winter here, and we’ve been waiting impatiently for spring. I think it’s finally here, and being able to go down to my memorial garden and finally see some flowers is very inspiring! We look forward to starting our spring yard work this coming weekend!

We are also supposed to pass this award on to other blogs. Honestly, I find every blog out there to be inspiring! Blogging is hard work, and everyone that can do this tough job inspires me to keep going as well.
We’ve been enjoying sharing about and giving away copies of the dog cookbooks in the series Real Dogs Cook. This time we have two sets of books #4 and #5 to give away!
Volume 4 is Tex-Mex for Terriers by Chef Terry Scraps. Chef Scraps was born on a Texas ranch but found his way to California and became a chef. Terry learned to improvise well in the kitchen and shares fun recipes like “Not Just Nachos!”
Volume 5 is Kung Pao for Pekingese by Suzie Snow Peas. Suzie travels the world discovering new foods and new friends. She’s always on the lookout for new adventures and preparing new recipes for anyone she meets. Her cookbook includes “Unexpected Gifts from Heaven” – a recipe for “Sichuan Chicken with Cashews”.
If you don’t want to wait to see if you can win your copies, you can order them from Amazon by clicking on each title here: Tex-Mex for Terriers, Kung Pao for Pekingese. You can read more about the entire series by visiting Real Dogs Cook.com.
Disclaimer: We received copies of these books free of charge to read and share with our readers. We were in no other way compensated for this post, and Wag ‘n Woof Pets only shares our honest opinions about products we feel will be of interest to our readers.

Would love to try some new recipes. Congrats on your award!
Thank you, and good luck in the giveaway!
Our crocuses just bloomed, too. Yay, spring! Although, I think I prefer snow over this torrential downpour we’ve got going on today…
We entered! Happy Thoughtless Thursday, Ruckus the Eskie
Congrats on the award! You certainly deserve it! Anyone who can “survive” as much snow as you have over this past winter and still have their sanity intact certainly gets my admiration and respect!
My dogs all inspire me, too…without them around to get me outside year round, I’d be as big as a house and as lazy as a bear hibernating for the winter.
I am totally with you on that. The dogs are probably the only reason I did retain my sanity this winter! 🙂
Congrats on your award. Well deserved. Our dogs are an inspiration, aren’t they?
Congrats on your great award! I loved your inspiring answers! I like your housekeeping day also!
Love cooking for Layla so new ideas and recipes are always welcome
I love these; too cute!
We are so glad that we are having great weather after a very snowy winter. Congratulations on your award!!!!
Thank you! It is such a relief to finally have that winter behind us, and we’re hoping for a very nice spring and summer (last summer was pretty cool).
Congrats on your award. We’re waiting for spring too…though we’ve seen some signs that it may be here…but just a little shy. 😉
So glad that you’re finally getting to see some flowers! It’s about time! Barley and Soth inspire me daily, too–I wish I could handle my aches and pains as well as those two do!
Congratulations on your award!
We are so happy spring has finally spring here in NYC too. So wonderful to see the beautiful tulips and daffodils in bloom! The spring is such welcoming time of year. People no longer are cooped up inside and seems as if they become more happy. I guess they get their dose of vitamin D from the sun now. 🙂
Oh Shiner has those books already and is a fan of the Tex-Mex one LOL. Congrats on your award!
congratulations! I had the Boston Marathon in my mind too and my thoughts are with the runners on monday.
I’ve won BBQ for Bulldogs at Dakota and I love this books, Easy can’t wait till we start the BBQ season with recipes of his own cookbook :o)
I bet Easy has some great recipes, and he should probably publish his own book! 🙂
