What a fun Multiple Pet Mania month it has been leading up to this day! We have thoroughly enjoyed hosting this month along with our friends the Cascadian Nomads and MyGBGVLife. I know everyone has been waiting, so first of all we’d like to share the winning photos from the #MultiPetDay photo contest. I just want to say that every single one of the photo entries we received was wonderful, and I enjoyed seeing them so much! It was very difficult to choose the winners…..thank you to everyone that entered.

Congratulations to all of you!
We also want to thank everyone who filled out our Life with Multiple Pets Survey. This was not a very scientific survey, it was all for fun (my interpretation of the results is definitely not scientific either). It was interesting to see the huge variety of pets that the respondents have, and how they see life with them. It was not a surprise to see that the majority of you who filled out our survey have dogs, with cats not far behind. Next up was horses, then fish, rodents, reptiles, birds, and rabbits. There was even 3 sheep and a goat included!
In our survey results, the most common number of dogs to have is 2, then 3. The highest number anyone had was 6. The most common number of cats to have is 1. That surprised me because we have almost always had multiple cats, though we do only have 1 now and plan to stick to that for a while. Also, 14% of our respondents had more than 10 pets (the highest number was 21!), but 41% have 3 or less. Multiple sometimes means many, but not always.
How long have you lived with multiple pets? Most people answered “as long as I can remember”. Apparently once you start having multiples, you can’t stop!
I think every multiple pet family can agree that it’s not always easy. The most difficult aspects for most respondents were expenses and finding pet care for vacations. Vacations are a subject I don’t think I touched on this month – we don’t take many. When we do we are lucky to have a sister and a friend that will come stay at our house with the pets; or my hubby and I take separate vacations! The truth is though, I just don’t like being away from the pets. Next most difficult aspects after those two was housekeeping. What I concluded from the comments on my post and others on that subject is that most of us just don’t worry that much about it. We do the best we can and live with not having pristine houses.
I was surprised more people didn’t find time management to be highly difficult – that has always been one of my biggest issues. I never seem to have enough time to exercise, groom, and give equal attention to everyone. Grooming tends to fall behind more. Mostly I just need more time to let the dogs in and out of the house….we do A LOT of that around here! Another challenge for me that didn’t make the list is taking photos (maybe that’s more important to us bloggers). The only time I can easily get all 4 pets into one photo is at supper time. In the photo below for our #52Snapshots of Life “Father” theme, I wanted all of the animals to be looking at the Dadz. Not easy….it took 7 shots to get one I was happy with.

What’s the best part of life with multiple pets? Most people answered “A Full Heart”. I love that. The pets’ relationship with me and with each other were close behind (but most people agreed “all of the above”). I actually think the main reason we went from one dog to multiple dogs was to give them each other’s company. But I’ve also learned it doesn’t matter how many you have to keep each other company, they are still just as happy when their humans get home! Cats are another story, as we all know how independent they can be. Ours have always enjoyed each others’ company greatly, until Samantha came along….she is a loner and enjoys dogs more than other cats. She is more laid back in her greetings, but I know she’s happy to see us too.
We hope you enjoyed the results of the survey, and the whole month of sharing about our lives with multiple pets. We want to thank every blogger that participated in the blog hop and every reader that followed along and left comments on our posts, along with the photo contest entries and survey participants. We also need to thank our sponsors one more time: Merrick Pet Care, The Umbilical Belt, and K9Bytes Gifts. Remember, this is the first annual Multiple Pet Day, we’ll be doing it again next year!
One thing came through to me loud and clear from everyone who participated in any way this month: those of us who have multiple pets wouldn’t have it any other way!
You all did an amazing job with this contest, I enjoyed everything. Job well done!
Great photos. But I have to agree with the winner. It was awesome.
Those are some great photos. Congrats to the winners.
Congrats to all the winner’s. Some great photos.

I really enjoyed your Multiple Pet Month. Congratulations to the winners, excellent choices!
This has been a really fun month! It was fun to read about all of the multi-pet adventures everyone else has (and nice to know that I’m not the only one who has learned to embrace pet hair and a less clean home!).
This has been a fun month, blog-hop wise! Ducky is enjoying sleeping on her new blanket; and all 3 girls are enjoying the treats. I brought a bag of treats next door (to our new neighbors) for their dog and she likes them, too!
Congrats to my fellow giveaway winners and the photo contest winners as well!! Love the photos!!! And the survey results were interesting, though not really surprising to me except for the one participant with 21 pets. 21 pets?? How on earth does one keep all those names straight?! I only have 3 and I’m always calling them by the wrong name. Of course, I am an official member of the “Retiree Club” so I guess my AARP membership counts for something. LOL
LOL…I’m not retired yet, but my memory is going already! I cannot even begin to imagine having 21 pets…I can barely handle the 4 we have now!
I’m so glad you won the giveaway and that the girls are enjoying the treats. It was so nice to share with your neighbors too!
I enjoyed entering the multipetmania hop this month. Great idea!! I have been so busy the last couple days that I completely forgot today was the actual multiple pet day!!!!! So I missed out on that, but a huge congrats to the lucky winners!!!

Happy Multiple Pet Day! We enjoyed all of the posts this month, and the survey was fun too. ConCATs to the photo contest winners – very cute submissions! Thank you for hosting such a fun month, and we hope it happens again next year!
I am so glad you enjoyed the month and all the happenings. We are definitely planning on doing it again next year!
Congrats to all winners! I agree it’s not easy to get all in one photo… and your photo is fabulous!
Congrats to the winners the photos were great! What a fun month!
Mom says one pet is easy and would be able to be really well trained as well as spoiled, but multiple pets make for more fun. The extra costs and work are all forgotten by the joy of having all of us.
I love that first place photo! Adorable! Interesting results on your survey. At least you’re able to get a photo with all of your pets in it lol… I can get Jack and Gus together, and have some with the rats and Shiner. But all of them together? I don’t see that happening any time soon!
Thank goodness for collages, right, Ann? I use those quite often too!
