This is the face of a beagle when there is 1-2 feet of fresh snow on the ground:
This is the face of a beagle when that snow melts, leaving behind nothing but ice, and she’s restricted from playing ball in the yard.
Don’t you worry about her though. The ice is now melting and we have an area where we can play in the yard. It’s been warm enough that even the ice and snow that is left has been soft. Someone else is less happy now. Do you know what happens when over 2 feet of snow and ice melt? Mud. Lots of mud, and Cricket does not have a lot of ground clearance, so she gets covered underneath. That means this Momz has to clean up the dogs whenever we come in from playing, and we shouldn’t have to be doing that until at least March or April!
Of course, that’s OK, the important thing is that the beagle and her brother are happy!

Poor Cricket. We have had so much mud here this winter. I am tired of it.
Happy Beagles are the best kind of Beagles! <3
Poor baby – shall we wish for more fresh fallen snow?
Those two photos sure are a study in contrasts! I love happy Cricket!
Oh my. That contrast almost breaks my heart! Normally, I wouldn’t wish snow on anyone (as I hate it so). But I might be tempted to do the snow dance for you! I need more beagle smiles.
Jean from Welcome to the Menagerie
Cricket says, yes please, would you go ahead and do that snow dance? I was never a snow lover either, but keeping the beagle smiling has made me come to enjoy it more! š
Phody has the same feelings.
Phod makes the same faces!
Cricket should wear those boots out in the mud. We hope you get some more snow because we like to see happy Cricket face.
She does wear her boots, but only on her back paws. But hey, at least that’s two less paws I have to wipe! But the boots are so muddy now I’m going to have to start washing them (I did just order a spare pair though).
Poor Cricket! Bear Cat likes mud better than snow š
Oooo, sad beagle! Man, I’d be sad too having to deal with that mud! Luckily that’s not usually an issue here – although we have had a lot of rain this year, but luckily our yard doesn’t get too muddy (it’s small, and lots of hardscape!).
We hope the happy face shows up soon!
I hope you guys get some better weather soon! Ice and mud are no fun! We’ve had a wild winter here and I totally can relate to sad Cricket!
Things have been a bit better. The ice melted more, and it’s been cold again so the mud isn’t quite as bad. But I’m sure we’re in for more mess before it’s over! LOL
LOL! I could post photos of my mom like that. She is so sad about the disaster winter has been this year!
Hee hee….I’d like to see those photos!
Low riding dogs do have dirty bellies! I keep a towel by the back door. āŗ
Yup, I’ve got one hanging there now, and a clean pile in the laundry room just waiting….. š
Oh, man. I feel your pain. At least my dogs are tall and I only have to clean up paw messes. As you said, it’s all worth their happiness.
At least Luke is a bit easier, since he’s tall too. His fur is thinner as well, so the mud just doesn’t seem to stick to him as much as it does to Cricket!
Ooooooh poor baby. No more snow

I’m still chuckling at Phenny’s comment about the curses. ???? Mostly because I don’t just mumble them. Our yard turns into a giant mud puddle during a heavy rain, and spills into the porch. So I can totally relate. Temps for us today? Mid 70s! I want winter back! At least for another month anyway.
I just haven’t psyched myself up for mud season yet! LOL
Awe, come on over we are getting fluffy snow now
Oh, did you get much? We got an inch yesterday morning, but it was all melted by afternoon. š
I echo her happy/sad faces – I’m still hoping against hope that somehow we’ll get at least one last good snowfall!
don’t be sad Cricket…mud makes a great playground too… and all moms start to mumble the wildest curses hehehehe
