Luke has the sweetest little routine that he and my hubby go through when he gets home from work.
First of all, Luke will often see our car coming down the road and start barking (unless I’m eating lunch, then Dadz might sneak in on us since Luke is so focused on me). If I’m in another room, Luke will come get me. It’s as if he wants to be sure that I know his Dad is home too (and like he expects me to be just as excited as he is – LOL)! That’s when I’ll chant “Daddy’s Home, Daddy’s Home!”.

Luke will run to the window to look out and make sure, and then to the door to wait for Dad to come in. Once Dad is in and has greeted him, Luke will then run to the couch to wait for Dad to come sit with him so they can exchange smooches!

Dad will get up to do this or that before settling in, and Luke will wait patiently on the couch. If Dad goes to the table to eat lunch, Luke is right next to him.
Sometimes hubby just sits on the couch and has a snack, and again Luke is right next to him, because Daddy always shares!

Once that is all over, most often this time of year Dad will settle on the couch for a nap and Luke is right there with him. Since I wanted to take a photo on this day, Luke was being contrary. Most of the time he naps right on the couch with Dad, but I think the camera was bugging him so he moved to his chair!

How sweet! Matt and Matilda always wait for my husband to come home and Matt will start pacing and checking all the windows and doors if he is late.

Isn’t it so funny how they can tell time? My hubby has a flexible schedule so it’s not always the same. But Luke knows exactly when supper time is! LOL
Love this bond! And that Luke has such a routine!
Oh, this is so sweet, Luke💗I’m a Granny’s girl and hang out wherever Granny is…not only when she was away…MOL😸Pawkisses for a Happy Tuesday🐾😽💞
That is so sweet, Binky!! You make sure Granny never gets lonely. ♥
He loves his daddy! They have their routines.
Oh yes…Daddy time is the best!!

What a great homecoming routine! We like how Luke gets some Fritos. 🙂
We should nickname him Frito Bandito. LOL
We love your special routine with your Daddy, you sure love to be loved Sir Luke!
He sure does. ♥
That is so sweet, I love the expressions on Luke, you can see how excited he is. Thanks for sharing that with us. The kitties like to pile on Dad when he naps and of course they crowd around me once I settle on the loveseat in the evening, they know Mom is a softy about treat time.
One good thing about Luke is that he spreads it around well….he is just as excited when I get home (I just don’t leave as often – LOL).
Benji seems to have a routine of doing circles all around pawppy, then he wants to jump up and give a nose to nose kiss, BOL!
Dalton, well, even after over two years, he is still very wary and scared of men in general…sigh…though he doesn’t try to bite pawppy anymore…baby steps…
Pipo runs over with tail straight up, tells him all the doings of the day and demands belly rubs and food:)
Luke has a fur sure great routine and bond with his Dad!
Aw, poor Dalton…but at least he is making progress. Sounds like the other two fill in quite well for him anyway. ♥
That is so sweet.
What a sweet dog! And the photos show how much they love each other!
Aww, they know. So sweet.
I love how they get excited when a parent arrives. My guys used to do some of these things, but as age has crept up on them, they do it less.
This post brings back sweet memories for me. I’m so glad you are writing them down and documenting.
I am glad too. I often look back on my blog and will find a post about something I completely forgot! It is nice to have this record, and I’m glad you have it too. ♥
Awww, that’s sweet! Ducky is her Daddy’s “little princess”. When he’s not in the clutches of a dementia-induced snit fit, he gives her belly rubs, ear rubs, and spends several minutes just petting her and speaking softly and sweetly to her.
As for Luke moving to his chair when you’re trying to get a sweet photo? Don’t most – if not all – dogs do that? I know Ducky does if I’m not stealth enough. 😏
Well, I don’t think Joy’s dogs do! LOL
Luke used to love when I got the camera out, because he knew it meant treats. But somehow that is only when I get my DSLR out. He doesn’t like the cell phone so much. Weird, right?
Our Little Bit was daddies pup and they were just the same. So excited when dad came home and wherever dad went so did Little Bit. Luke is most adorable.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Luke. My best to your peeps. ♥
oooh we know that… all dads share their snacks… even when we have to go out at night … but then the mama is with us and not our dad LOL
Funny how that works, isn’t it?? LOL
We just race to the door when Mom gets back and jump all over her.
I think when there’s more than one in the crew, that’s how it usually goes. Luke likes his special attention though. 🙂
Kitty and doggy Daddies are the best … well, I mean, AFTER Mommas. Just my biased opinion 😉
You are right about that!! 🙂
We love it that you and your dad are bestest buddies, Luke!
