Now who would have thought that a beagle would want to celebrate their birthday by playing fetch and cooling off in a kiddie pool? This certainly seems like unusual behavior for a hound dog, but these are things Cricket really enjoys. Our beagle Kobi would have nothing to do with either of these activities and my sister’s two beagles don’t either (she has another beagle puppy now so we’ll see what he likes to do as he grows up). Cricket would like to tell you all about the other things we did to celebrate her birthday.

Thanks, Momz! First of all, I want to say thanks for all of the wonderful birthday wishes I got, and I even got some special cards online too! You saw some of my splash photos yesterday, and I got to play lots of fetch. I want to point out that I didn’t get any presents this year! Why not? Well, maybe this photo to the right, seen before, explains that:
Balls are my favorite toys and they have to be these balls too. Momz said I didn’t need any more balls right now (I get a new one every Christmas). I play with stuffies some, but not much and if I got one Sheba and Luke would just steal it and destroy it anyway. So instead of a new toy, I got extra play time over the weekend before my birthday, and I got special treats every night starting Sunday night until my actual birthday on Tuesday!
We got this on Sunday night, added to the top of our regular kibble, which we’ve never had before. The Momz said it looked like gruel (and worried they had added too much or too little water) and that it didn’t smell that good, but what do humans know? I of course had to share with Luke and Sheba, and we all loved it!

I don’t know, maybe the Momz thinks she has to like what we like? So on the second night we got fresh cooked chicken added to our kibble, and then these special zucchini treats, that we had to share with the humans! Now last year for my birthday Momz gave me watermelon, and I was not impressed. So then this year she tries a vegetable instead of a fruit? What was she thinking? However, I have to admit, this time she got it right….I loved these! Momz says we have to thank our friends at Kol’s Notes for sharing this recipe. If you click here you can find that recipe and some other zucchini ones just for dogs. Here I am hoping to get another one:
Finally, on my actual birthday we got dessert! Momz had been saving these frozen treats for a special occasion. Now poor Sheba can’t eat frozen treats, they upset her belly. So Momz decided to put whipped cream on top of our frozen treats, and then Sheba got a bowl of just whipped cream. I think they call that a Puppucino in some places….only hers was in a bowl.

Momz put out some nice decorations for me, and we got to enjoy our dessert out on the deck.
What an awesome birthday I had this year, and here is proof…..I was all partied out by Tuesday night!
We wonder, does anyone else have a beagle or hound dog that likes to play fetch and splash in a pool?
Today we are joining the Thursday Barks & Bytes blog hop. Thank you to our hosts 2 Brown Dawgs blog, and Heart Like a Dog. Please visit other blogs through the links below!

What a special Birthday for a special gal. I hope you have many many more!
lOOKS FAB!
Looks like a great celebration! Barley thinks the food surprises are the best part of any celebration, too, so we’re glad that Cricket got lots of different edible goodies (and that she was a good sister and shared!).
It sounds like just a wonderful birthday. The brown dawgs think you celebrated just right! Thanks so much for sharing on the hop and Happy Birthday Cricket. (We are far behind again!)
Glad you had such a fun birthday Cricket – you’re a lucky dog.
Wow! What a fun birthday celebration you had, Cricket!
That’s awesome that you had such a good time on your birthday! It sure looks like fun! Our girls really like the THK foods, too! Although, we agree that it can be time consuming at first figuring out how much water to add!
Yes, it may take a few tries before we get the right amount! It was too liquidy this time, though the dogs didn’t care at all!
We are hounds, but we don’t play fetch. We do enjoy the kiddie pool, though. The ice cream smoothies sound real tasty! Glad you had a wonderful birthday!
Sounds like a wonderful birthday! 🙂
It sounds like you had a wonderful birthday Cricket!! I would definitely call that spoiled in my book. 😀 And also very well deserved.
I’m a big fan of Kol’s Notes myself and love it when she shares treats I can make that the dogs and I can both eat.
Thanks so much for joining the blog hop!
Sure sounds like you had a great birthday Cricket!
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Sounds like an excellent celebration!! And a very yummy one too! 😀
Our dogs don’t just get a birthday, they get a birthday weekend too! Lol
Happy Birthday! Two of our collies just celebrated their birthdays on Sunday.
Oh, Happy Birthday to your two as well then!! It’s always fun to extend the celebration, isn’t it?
The last picture says it all, that’s one happy Cricket after a fun-filled birthday! 🙂
that was a super barkday pawty. I love that you got extra playtime, that’s something what gets no hole or destuffing, it’s a memory what stays furever :o) and the extra special food is super tasty… your stomach had a super barkday too :o)
It sounds like a perfect Beagle Birthday! ♥ We would enjoy all of those treats too. Mom saved the zucchini recipe from Kol’s too. I cannot eat a frozen treat, but I can lick those ice cream cups. Mom doesn’t let me lick a bunch, but it doesn’t make me sick like when she just tries to hand me a frozen treat.
Oh, I’ll have to try just letting Sheba lick one then. It may just be too much cold stuff at once that bothers them, so maybe the licking reduces that.
