Welcome to the #52Snapshots of Life photo challenge, the place where I lament about the photo I didn’t get, and whine about my photography skills and crappy old camera! This week’s theme is “Sky”, and I really wanted to get a photo of one of the dogs’ cute faces with the sky as the background. There’s no way I was lying on the ground to do this….there are bugs there, you know! I decided I would try to lie on the deck instead, and Luke would be my subject since he’s the most cooperative. Wrong. When the Momz lies down on the deck, that seems to be a signal to Luke to ATTACK the Momz and lick her to death!
It was fun though, and I was laughing so hard….but never could get the shot. The weird thing was my hubby came home in the middle of all that and never even asked me why I was sitting on the deck laughing. This leads me to believe he is used to odd behavior from me (or just thinks I was drinking wine again). So I went for my second idea….nature….and decided to try for a shot of our pretty apple blossoms against the deep blue spring sky. Except, when I downloaded my photos to the computer, the sky wasn’t that blue, and the leaves weren’t that green! Is it my camera, was it too bright out, or do I just suck as a photographer? Anyway….they make software for people like me, and I used PicMonkey to add saturation to the colors and enhance them. I then decided to add a frame because it really seemed kind of boring.
I wonder, will this challenge make me a better photographer, or will it just cause me to spend more money to buy a new camera, which may or may not help? 🙂 It’s all in fun…I really am enjoying it!

Jan i have the same thing..lie down get attacked..even by the sheep..now sheep kisses are pretty bad..they have super methane breath 🙂 as for the shot..it can be a big difference between what you see and what the camera gives you..maybe google the model and tips as they are all different..using post processing on skies is very common..i think the shot is great 🙂 loves Bev xx
I always enjoy your photos. I think you should have taken a picture of Luke licking you and called it “Attempted Sky Shot”…lol.
Ha ha, that’s a good idea….I might remember that for another time!
That is a great shot!
hahahahaha! photo shoot time in your house sure sounds a lot like my house!!!
Love the sky shot though!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
That’s a really great sky you’ve captured there…
That’s a great photo!!
That sky is the perfect sky blue. TW has a cheap old camera. In fact, when she downloaded the pics, the colors were deep but when she did “autocolor” in Photoshop, they muted. The first pic is with the autocolor and the second is without it.
What a beautiful picture of the sky! The blue is amazing.
That is a beautiful shot! I can’t ever get on the floor without being smothered in kisses! LOL!
Sounds like our house…mom on the ground must be approached, sniffed, licked.
You took a great photo, and I sympathize with the photography frustrations. We recently went to the coast and I had the wrong lens on the camera for the photos I was taking. Grrr. Having a good camera is a big part of getting good photos, but cameras can quickly become very expensive. Your photoediting turned your photo into a great picture, and it’s a lot cheaper than expensive camera gear.
You’re hilarious! I use Picmonkey all the time; it’s my virtual photography assistant. It makes sure my lighting is good, it’s in focus and yes, looks pretty. Or as pretty as my pics can look. Great shot!
just beautiful!
I think it turned out great! I always struggle with the sky, too. There are days when the sky and the lake just seem to blend into each other and it’s so pretty, but then I take a picture–and it doesn’t matter what camera or what settings I use–and it never does it justice. Someday, I plan on getting a new camera, too. Maybe when all the car payments are done next summer . . .
Looks great! I bet it is the same sky that is in my sky photo 😉 My mom has learned to lie in the grass…just don’t think about what could be there. Don’t know what camera you have, but Mom bought a “smaller” Nikon DSLR camera and has purchased a few extra lenses and loves it. At National Camera it came with 3 or 4 free classes which were a huge help. It took a few years to learn to use manual mode, but now she can do it most of the time. It is always a challenge, but she loves it.
Great shot! I think you are doing a great job on your photography.
Yes, you’ve got it, Easy….always blame the camera! 🙂
I’m curious for the result at the end of the challenge :o)
I like the sky, it looks not boring :o) I’m not good to take sky-pictures… and I bow my head with shame when I remember my photos of the solar eclipse lol… but probably it was my cam LOL
