June is Adopt a(Shelter) Cat Month, so it seemed appropriate to share an adoptable cat this week.
I was recently asked what my favorite breed of cat was. Now I have never had a purebred cat, and almost every cat I’ve had has been a DSH (domestic short haired) and Samantha is probably our first DLH (domestic long haired).
However, I have known some people who had a Maine Coon cat as part of their family, and have always heard that they are great pets. They’re known to have a lot of personality (sometimes dog-like), and are also loved for their intelligence, gentleness and large size. They are also called the American Longhair and are impressive hunters.
**HAPPY UPDATE – AS OF 7/28 HOCUS HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!**
Since I’d love to possibly have one as part of my family (if we ever decide to get another cat) I thought I would find one to share (and try to resist wanting to adopt him myself). I found Hocus. Hocus is listed as a Maine Coon/DLH mix and he is small in size (he looks young to me).
Hocus is with Lost My Way Animal Shelter in Claremont, New Hampshire. He is a playful, loving and vocal cat who adores attention. He was very matted when he arrived at the shelter so had to be shaved down. Isn’t he a handsome guy? I bet he’ll be even more handsome when his fur grows back! Hocus is up to date on his shots and has been neutered. You can visit his Petfinder page here.

A little bit about the shelter: Lost My Way Animal Shelter was founded in 2012. Their mission is to reunite lost animals with their families, and to find forever homes for those that are homeless. They help all types of animals such as dogs, cats, birds, reptiles and even wildlife. If you would like to learn more or contact them you can visit their Facebook and Petfinder pages.
If you cannot adopt a cat this month, there are other things you can do to help. Petfinder has a great list of ideas, and you can share this post and the other posts below as well!
What a handsome fellow, sharing.
Thank you for sharing!
He’s a cute one. His expression reminds me of my Cinder. Hope he finds a home soon!
He does have such a cute and expressive face. Fingers crossed for him!
Hocus is cute. Hope he finds a home. My kitty must have a black nose…that is the only requirement….lol.
LOL….now you’ve got me looking at my cats, because I think they all have pink noses, and you have me wondering about that!
Hocus looks like he has a big spot on his nose!
Hocus has a beautiful face. I hope he finds a loving home. Maine Coon cats are gorgeous.
They really are, aren’t they? I feel like he will find a great home, he’s such a good looking guy!
He is precious! Will share.
Thank you, and thank you as always for having this hop!
Maine Coons are beautiful and Hocus is no exception! Sharing! 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing, and for coming by!
Hocus is such a great looking cat. He does look small and young in these pictures. Hope he finds his forever home soon.
It certainly seems like a young, healthy and handsome guy like him should have no trouble finding a home…let’s hope!
Awww, Hocus is so beautiful!!!
Paws crossed for him! And I am definitely sharing!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Thank you for sharing, Jenna! A beauty like Hocus has to be scooped up soon, right? 🙂
Hocus is so handsome and we sure will share him. My late Brother Ivan was a Maine Coon and he was such a love. He left me way too early.
Oh, so sorry that you lost Ivan too young….it’s always the good ones.
Thank you for sharing Hocus.
I hope he finds his forever home soon, sharing.
Sheba.
Thank you for sharing, Sheba!
Hocus is beautiful. I had (RIP) a Maine Coon mix (rescue) for many years. They are great cats. Mine was huge. Twenty plus pounds of muscle. Groom every day and the long hair will never be a problem. Just look at the size of Hocus’s head. I know he will find a great forever home.
Wow, 20 pounds! I’ve never had a cat that big, that is so cool. Our Sam takes really good care of herself and I don’t even have to brush her often. I think Hocus will find a great home too.
