Jelly Bean (Cricket) VS Nosy Bean (Luke) – Who’s the Most Active Dog?
The contest is ON and Luke and Cricket are each doing all they can to win! As of this writing, Luke has 12 votes and Cricket has 15. Luke is feeling like the underdog (pun intended) and encourages you to go vote for him if you haven’t voted yet! One correct guesser will win a prize package (pssssttt…don’t tell but there might be a Nifti SafeLatch leash in that package!). Will his underdog status cause him to step it up, or does he even need to? I’ve checked in with their Poof Fitness Tracker a couple times now but I cannot reveal who is ahead at this point. There is still lots of ball fetching, toy playing, chicken and wildlife chasing (from safely behind the fence), and walks to go on before we’re done!
Speaking of Chicken Chasing…..
I wanted to give you a little update on Luke and the chickens. When the chickens get adventurous enough to venture along the outside of the dog fence, Luke just loves chasing them off. He does not bark, snarl, or otherwise carry on, so we’re starting to believe he’s just having fun chasing them. They usually run because he startles them, but I don’t think they’re all that afraid.Â

Farm Life
What is the Dadz up to with his tractor now (other than having fun?) There’s a spring running through that part of the yard and he wondered if it could be a potential future pond site, so he was digging a hole to see. It filled up with clear water that’s staying in there, so maybe! We’ll need bigger equipment to know for sure, but it’s exciting to think it’s a possibility! With our employment situations up in the air at the end of the summer, we can’t really spend much money to pursue it, but it’s still fun to dream, and you never know, right? Luke may get to swim in his own pond yet!
In The Works….
I’m working on a couple of posts to continue my Challenges of Gardening with Dogs series from last summer, so stay tuned for those, and we hope to have another giveaway or two coming up next month as well!
Sounds like the beginning of a whole new chapter for you my friend. Keep sharing please, love these stories
Chickens and a potential pond? We’re all coming to live at your house!
Maybe we should become a boarding house or a B & B or something! 🙂
Boys and their toys (chickens, tractors)!
A pond would be such fun! I hope it happens so you can have ducks too! I love the chickens roosting on your lounger. LOL!
At least someone gets to relax around here. LOL!
Wow, having a pond would be cool!
My dream is to have a small pond one day. When I dogsat, there was one house that had a manmade pond and river system that surrounded the house. I can’t even imagine the cost of something like that! Sounds like Luke is having fun with the chickens 🙂
Wow, that sounds awesome, but I also bet it cost a lot of money!! We haven’t seriously priced getting one dug yet, but in my experience usually the reality ends up being much more money than the expectation. LOL
We love seeing the chickens and all the things you are doing down on the farm!
You better get on that tractor and help out

Congrats to the leash winners!
Love that pic of Luke looking for the chickens after he chased them! So typical of a dog! ????
And, you and the Dadz are both in my thoughts job-wise. Here’s to you both getting new jobs soon!
Thank you, Sue. We’re sticking out these jobs until the “bitter end” (around Labor Day) in exchange for severance pay….so it’s tough to really job hunt at this point. Plus I don’t have a clue what I even want to look for….other than nothing….LOL. Here’s betting hubby gets employed before I do!
You have lots going on at your little farm, it’s an exciting time, and I’m glad you are sharing it with us.
I’m so glad you enjoy following along…I wasn’t really sure how much of the farm/chickens stuff I should share; but it seems to be getting a good response so far.
Big canine-grats to the winner! Here’s hoping all turns out ok on the employment front.
Thank you, I’m sure it will all work out in the long run. It’s just the unknown that really makes me nervous.
Your chicken pictures are so great!
Thank you, JoAnn! Now I just need to put little bandanas on them….LOL.
That job thing is a real problem in life. One has one and it makes them nuts, one doesn’t have one and it makes one nuts. We are glad we are dogs and don’t have to deal with a job. Hopefully things will work out for you both and work.
Yes, jobs are such a pain, whether you have one or not! I’m sure everything will work out for us. I’d really like to work from home like your Mom does, Emma, that would be perfect….I just have to figure out what to do and how to make it work!
great that the chickies are a part of your furmily now :o) they can become fabulous pets, I had a chicken and later a duck what followed me like dogs … and they can even learn tricks… they are clever animals… even when we don’t know why the chicken crossed the road ;o)
Luckily ours haven’t crossed the road yet – ha ha. I’m busy enough trying to train the dogs, I’m not sure I have time to teach the chickens tricks too! They are learning to come when I shake a bag of treats though!
