I was originally supposed to be working on a sponsored post today, but would you believe the product got lost in the mail? No one received theirs so the posts are going to have to be rescheduled while they try to track down the packages. Crazy, right?
I thought this would now be a good opportunity to catch up on some odds and ends.
Yoo-hoo award
I want to thank Sue at the Talking Dogs blog for passing along this award to us. As with all awards there are rules….that I’m going to break, accept for the one where I thank her! I can’t seem to narrow down three things that I am grateful for, though I know I am very grateful for blogging friends like Sue who think of me in this way. Most of the blogs I follow and love have already received this award, and I have trouble narrowing it down to 7 anyway. You all deserve it.
Spring Finally Sprung and the Pool is OPEN!
Only two weeks ago I wrote about how the pool wasn’t open yet, but we are happy to report that it is now open for business! I was anxious because I wanted to see how Luke would like it, and guess what? He had no qualms about following his sisters right in there!
In other signs of spring, the forsythias have been in full bloom and now are already shedding their beautiful yellow flowers and will be turning green.
You can see the grass isn’t all green yet though! My daffodils have been in bloom as well though. Mine always seem to be behind everyone else’s…but they made it!
We are finally getting into the swing of our spring workouts, and I hope to share more about what we’ve been doing next week on FitDog Friday. Speaking of FitDog Friday, they had their one year anniversary a few weeks ago, and I aced their quiz and won a $50 AmEx gift card by random draw! We bought some fun stuff with the card….
We plan to use these colorful cones in some fun games and workouts that we have learned from SlimDoggy. The dogs also got an Unbreakoball which Luke loves, and some Jones Natural Chews tender chicken taffy which they are CRAZY for! Their blogger Flea has been telling us how great their stuff is, and she wasn’t kidding! We also got some oral care gel (thanks, Emma, for reviewing that), and some organic wheat grass seeds. I have heard that wheat grass is good for dogs and since Luke eats grass like crazy, I’m hoping he’ll eat some of this and maybe stop tearing up our lawn!

You may think he’s cute, but Luke has really been a brat lately! He’s 6 1/2 months old now and even though he is learning well at obedience class, he is just into everything. He takes small holes in our screens and turns them into big gaping holes. He is obsessed with the plug in the pool….he chewed up the first one and we had to get a replacement, and he just wouldn’t leave it alone! So we had to try inserting the plug from underneath so he couldn’t pull it out. So he pushed it out and then was smart enough to go to the other side where it would come out and dig around the pool to try to get it! My hubby put it in good and tight now so we’ll see if it stays (I’m guessing I probably won’t be able to get it out when it’s time to drain it!). We can’t leave him alone for a minute or he’s into something. But then other times he’ll just be hanging around outside, laying on the deck being good, or he’s in the yard chewing on a stick. He loves being outdoors, but it’s hard to watch him every minute.

As usual, I had more to ramble on about than I thought, so I guess I’d better wrap it up for this time! Thanks so much to Love is Being Owned by a Husky, and Ruckus the Eskie for hosting the Thoughtless Thursday blog hop….we’re happy to be joining in for the first time!
We need to find a pool like that! Our two pyrs have a tough time sharing the little kiddie pool we have 😉 We’re dealing with the dreaded adolescent phase here too. Don’t worry, it’ll get better!
It took us forever to find that pool. I looked online everywhere but they weren’t making them anymore and I couldn’t find one on Craigs List. Our friends had one so I knew what I wanted….and then that same friend ended up with another when someone was moving, and I begged them to give it to us!
Luke already shows some sign of maturing…but it’s only on occasion! 🙂
Thanks for coming by!
Well if you figure out the secret to keep Luke from chewing please share for Freighter. 🙂 Hooray for awards and pools!
Thanks! Oh boy, and here I was holding out hope Luke would outgrow this chewing thing. LOL Not really, since our golden Moses never did.
Look at those cones! Also congrats on the AMEX win. Exciting.

Thanks! It was fun getting to pick out some stuff that we really wanted/needed!
Oh the joys of puppies. 🙂 you have to love their sense of fun and determination!
Delilah is a very large, puppy and there are times when I want to pull my hair out, but then there are times when she is SO good that she just melts my heart. I hope you are laughing at his antics as opposed to pulling your hair out. 🙂
Oh yes, they are determined! You have to admire their endless energy too, though I wish he’d share some of it with me!
I do pull my hair out some, but mostly I just enjoy it. Plus it’s mentally challenging trying to figure out how to outsmart him, so that will keep our brains young….LOL!
Your forsythia is GORGEOUS! Mine is nowhere near that large yet. It’s only about four years old, started from a tiny sprig. And I love Luke’s spots! Chewy does his own amount of damage, too, and he’s already about nine months old. I keep waiting for it to calm down …
Thank you! I can’t believe how big the forsythias get….we have another one by the house, we have to keep cutting it back or it blocks my kitchen window!
Oh boy, 9 months and still not calm? Guess I’d better buckle up…it’s going to be a long ride (but I did know that going into it)! 🙂
Yay for the pool being open!! We recently pulled out our baby pool, and filled it up, too. But this morning, the temperature was in the 30’s.
We’re expecting a drop in temps soon too. We always get a much warmer spell in May but it never lasts. We’ll just enjoy it while it does!
You scored with all your cool items. Luke is growing up fast.
He certainly is….way too fast!
That’s some very cool stuff you got with your prize $$. Anxious to see what you do with it. Maybe you can tire Luke out so he’s better behaved 😉
I got myself a book too! 🙂
That is definitely a good idea to tire Luke out more….but he already goes and goes all day….and I’m the one that ends up worn out! LOL
I think I’m waiting for the same food! I can’t believe he’s only 6 months old.. he looks so big already!
Isn’t it strange….I wonder where that food is!
Luke is definitely getting big, he’s over 50 pounds already!
Ash loves to go swimming but the others don’t like the pool! We are excited to see if Diesel will get in the pool. My son takes him to the lake and he loves it there, but the lake and a swimming pool are quite different!
Diesel loves to chew things up at our house but he is good as gold at my son’s house. My son says it’s cause we spoil him! It wouldn’t be any fun if we couldn’t spoil him, so oh well! What happens at grammy’s house stays at grammy’s house!
If we had a real pool (and I wish we did), I don’t think I’d be able to keep Sheba out of it. She loves to swim, but it’s hard to have time to take her places all the time.
Well, of course that is a grammy’s job….to spoil the granddogs!
Love the doggie pool!
We were lucky that friends of ours found this pool when someone was moving….it’s so much easier to deal with having a plug than just those other kiddie pools that we had to dump. It’s such a great way for the dogs to be able to play more when it’s hot out.
Oh I know exactly what you mean about pups getting into things!!!! Luckily mine are all getting a little older now, so it’s not nearly as bad! It’s hard to watch them every second of the day so it that makes it difficult to correct bad behavior for sure! With the pool plug, all I can say is to maybe every time you catch him doing that, give him a “time out” from the pool? Maybe first try your leave it command, and when he doesn’t listen, try removing him from the pool for a few minutes…..then let him try again, when he goes for the plug, say leave it, and when he doesn’t listen, give another time out. If you dedicate a little bit to that each day (if you have time) he might soon get the point that he doesn’t get to play if he messes with the plug. the only thing is, is that you will have to be there whenever you let them play in the pool, so that would make it harder. Good luck though!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Thanks, Jenna! That is such a great idea….we hadn’t used the leave it command in the past so it’s just not habit (with me) yet! But that could very well work….and I have to keep an eye on him all the time anyway, it just might mean actually going outside a little more instead of just yelling to him! But I think in the long run it will be worth it for sure.
Congrats to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG you reminded me…I have about FIVE packages here I have YET to open! I am awful!
Thanks, Caren! You better open those packages, there might be something good in there!
Can’t believe you have your pool out! Still too cold here. Bailie is getting better about trouble all the time, but now and then she is into something again. Thanks for the mention and I hope you like the oral gel. We still love to use it along with brushing. We brush nightly and use the gel 3-4 times a week.
We have had some really warm days here, but I think it’s going to cool off again soon. Of course, it wasn’t warm enough for me to want to go swimming….but the dogs were up for it!
I hope Luke is just going through a spell and he’ll come out of it soon!
Luke is starting to get used to his toothbrush and paste but the girls won’t even lick the paste off my finger, so I’m hoping they’ll like the gel better.
