Many thanks to our blog hop hosts 2 Brown Dawgs and Ruckus the Eskie! This is the hop that’s a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and everything in between!
We had a fun Christmas! We don’t get the pets a lot of gifts because they get stuff all year long anyway, but everyone gets at least one present to open.

Conrad got his new bed early, and Samantha got a new laser toy. I don’t have photos of that yet, because she’s pretty much been in hiding since Luke came!
Speaking of that, Luke is settling in very well. The house training is coming along, and we’re getting his routines set. We’ve done pretty well at maintaining the normal routines for the others. They aren’t warming up to Luke as quickly as we hoped they would, but considering they didn’t even want to stay in the same room with him initially, we’re making progress.
No, Sheba does not put up with him climbing on her for very long. Luke does well napping in his crate, so the dogs get their breaks from him, and they have other parts of the house they can retreat to also. His first day home, the girls got lots of exercise playing fetch, because they didn’t want to come in the house!
I know I’ve mentioned that Cricket came in 3rd on PetsMove in the senior group last month. We won some great prizes! I got the t-shirt I’m wearing here, Cricket got a bag of Zuke’s, and we also won a subscription to an online magazine called Pup Culture. If you haven’t joined PetsMove yet, the new year seems like a good time to start! They have lots of fun planned to start off 2014, so head on over and see what’s going on.
Ann over at Pawsitively Pets is always holding great giveaways and we’ve been lucky to win over there a few times now. The latest prize we won from her PetSmart giveaway was simply amazing. Look at all this stuff that was all inside the blue tote bag!
There are 5 coats/sweaters that are mostly too big for Luke now, but I think he will grow into them. Since he came up from Alabama, he’s not too impressed with the cold weather here, so they’ll come in handy! He is also enjoying all the toys. There are other accessories for the girls too, but since they don’t love being dressed up, I didn’t want to add to their stress by making them model them at this time. Whatever we can’t use, we will share with family and friends, or other dogs in need. This was a very generous giveaway so we wanted to give a huge thanks to Ann and PetSmart.
We hope you all are enjoying your holidays!
Luke is SO cute! I’m seriously excited to follow along with his puppy adventures! Congrats on the 3rd place victory. Much deserved!!
Thank you, Maggie! I have a feeling Luke will be giving me plenty of material, and I’m glad you are excited to hear more about him!
Oh what a cutie he is!! I wish we were closer. 😉 Although NH isn’t all that far….LOL
Last year when my daughter brought her puppy home for Christmas my dogs didn’t do well with him. Like yours they shied away. They actually snarked at him a couple of times! SO because I was lazy and they were only home for a short while, I basically kept them separated. I think it’s great that you will be home for the initial first weeks, I think that will help you a lot!
It’s just a quick drive up 91! 🙂 We spend a lot of time on that highway, since my hubby’s family is in Western Mass., where I’m also originally from, and I still have a close friend down there too.
Yes, there’s been some snarkiness going on for sure! I hope by the time we go back to work it will be better though, but we also have a separate space where Luke can stay when we’re at work until he’s older and completely housebroken too.
Wow! You got some really cool stuff! It took awhile for my three to warm up to Diesel! Teddy and Diesel get along really well but the other two just tolerate him. Luke is precious!
Thank you! It’s so good to know that it’s not just our dogs that are being “standoffish” to little Luke. We got a puppy as opposed to an older dog because Cricket can be bossy and I thought a puppy would accept that better. So far Luke doesn’t seem too put off by being corrected though (I read that sometimes comes more when they’re a bit older).
Aw what fun! Shiner usually just gets about one present too. Usually a stuffy because she loves them 🙂 And WOW PetSmart sent you TONS of stuff! That is so awesome! I’d say it’s definitely more than $30 worth of stuff. Looks like we got some of the same things. I need to share some of the sweaters because they don’t all fit Shiner very good. So cool, thanks for sharing!
Oh yes, Ann, I’d say there is at least $100 worth of stuff there! It couldn’t have come at a better time either, we had a bunch of toys for Luke, but we can’t seem to have too many, and so far he loves them all!
Wow look at that disney set! Looks so fun. And you each got your fav toy too it seems like. Happy Holidays!
Thanks for linking up with This ‘N That Thursday Blog Hop! See you next week, if not earlier.
We love this hop, it is always fun. Happy Holidays to you too, Ruckus!
I love seeing your pics of the dogs holding wrapped gifts. That’s hilarious! LOL Did they unwrap them or did you have to help them out? 😉
Sheba and Luke actually unwrapped theirs! Luke just wanted to eat the paper and tape though! We had to help the beagles though. Sheba was actually pretty funny….she wanted to get in on everyone’s gifts!
Hey those are some great gifts the dogs got – and some great winnings! 🙂
I bet before you know it Luke and the crew will all be best friends. I mean, how can they NOT be charmed by his cuteness? 😉
Apparently they are a bit more immune to his cuteness than we are! 🙂 We are seeing progress though, he and Cricket were actually playing on the bed this morning, and she started it!
Looks like a great Christmas. Glad you all got your PetsMove prizes! See you in the New Year.
Thank you, it was great, and we love our PetsMove prizes! Happy New Year!
My goodness, it sure looks like everyone had a grand time!!!
We certainly did, thanks, Brian!
Thanks so much for joining TNT. I bet your Christmas was busy with a new pup. I am sure the other doggies will warm up to him. Nice loot you won in the give away. I bet it will all come in handy!
The new loot is definitely coming in handy…..you can’t seem to have enough toys for a puppy! 🙂
What great fun things they crew received! I’m sure they will warm up to Luke very soon. I’ve always found older dogs fairly tolerate of young’uns and their shenanigans. My Golden has the patience of Job when Bentley came to live with us. He let him know when he crossed the line and they became the best of friends. Good luck!
We do see progress in their relationships….Luke is learning to back off sometimes, and they are learning to let him know when he’s going too far. We let them correct him but then we step in so they know we’re not going to just let him terrorize them all the time too! We can already see them softening up towards him.
The zoo looks very happy! They’re all adorable, of course…happy to see Luke is settling in! 🙂 Benji wears a size medium (hint hint) if that’s too small for Luke (or Cricket)… 😉 What a nice bunch of prizes you won! Can’t wait to meet Luke in person!
Thanks, Sheryl, they all seemed to enjoy their Christmas, and we certainly enjoyed just being home with them. Most of the clothes are bigger (maybe Kobi’s size but he’ll never let me put clothes on him…lol) but there might be something that would fit Benji in there! Luke looks forward to meeting Auntie Sheryl too!
I wouldn’t worry about Luke and the others. It took me a couple weeks to finally warm up to Bailie, but when I did we became inseparable. Katie just tolerated her, I was a bit rude, showing her that I was the boss, but it all turned out great. Don’t force them, it will happen. That potty training is a stupid issue. It went well at first, then someone erased her memory on it for a week or so, then she was back on track. It was back and forth for a while but Bailie has it down pretty well finally. Luke will like winter better when he has more fur too. Bailie tends to get cold pretty quickly and she doesn’t know where to pee and poo with the snow hitting her behind every time she attempts to squat. She had it down and now we got another big dumping of snow and it is starting all over again.
Thank you, Emma, that really does make me feel better to know that it took all of you some time to get used to each other too. It’s been so long since we’ve added a new household member, and Kobi was much younger back then and far more tolerant. But I feel hopeful that we’ll get there too!
Looks like a great Christmas and great haul on the give away. Enjoy your time with Luke and the gang.
Thank you….the timing of receiving that package couldn’t have been better, just in time for Christmas!
Looks like u all had a great time!!!! Hope u have a very happy new year also!
((Husky hugz))
We sure did! Happy New Year to you also!!
