Cricket is sometimes referred to as the “Princess” around here (her sister is Queen (of) Sheba, after all), and she certainly thinks she fits that role of royalty. However, I don’t think, judging by this photo, that she felt anything beneath this pile of beds that might disturb her sleep….so any potential princes might just move on. (If you don’t know the old fairy tale of the Princess & the Pea, you may click here to read it).

As I’ve been unpacking, I was actually surprised to see the number of dog beds we have! Our old house had three levels, and there was probably at the least two beds on every level. The stack seen above became a stack of four, and I still have two beds in the bedroom, and a pile of crate pad type beds in the laundry room! This is only one of Cricket’s favorite spots so far in the house though, when she’s not here she’s on her blanket on the couch. This pile of beds will be moving eventually, though Luke has been seen piling himself in there as well!
These dogs do all think they are royalty though, and mere dog beds aren’t always good enough for them….they often prefer the human couches, chairs, & beds! Do your dogs deign to lie on dog beds, or do they prefer the human furniture?
Beds are a necessity. We have a number of them in our house two. Since adding the new bed, I notice they are using it more and more. Especially Sampson because he really shouldn’t be climbing on couches.
So was there anything under that bed? LOL
I should have tried putting a pea under there and see what happened! LOL
Obviously, you can never have too many beds, even if they’re stacked atop each other.
I have a bunch of beds all over too. Great cozy spot to lay Cricket, enjoy!
Brown dawgs are deprived since they are not allowed on the furniture (although the bed at the cabin seems to be fair game for Freighter). We do pile a couple of beds on top of each other now that the dogs are older. They like the extra cush.
We bought Cocoa a wonderful dog bed and she never used it!! It is now a draft stopper by our door. She wants a couch or a chair!!
Cricket certainly looks comfy-cozy curled up on that pile of dog beds!
During the day Shadow and Ducky are equally happy on the dog beds and human furniture. But at night Ducky has to sleep in her crate because she chews on pillow cases, sheets and blankets. Better she should chew on her puppy blanket than the expensive ones on our human beds! Shadow normally sleeps on the dog beds next to our bed. Even when Callie was able to get up on the bed, Shadow wouldn’t stay with us all night. I think she just got too hot and uncomfortable. Callie would stay up on the bed all night and wait for me to wake up and help her get down. She was such a patient girl.
We actually had a set of nice wooden stairs custom built to go up to our bed! Our bed is high and we did it when our beagle Kobi started having trouble jumping up there. It took Sheba a long time to learn to use them but now it’s great for her. She used to go to the cooler floor though. But since we’ve been in the new house, she’s staying on the bed with us. Probably a security thing and as she gets more comfortable here she’ll go to the floor again (especially when it gets warmer).
Leroy prefers to use human furniture even though he has his own bed 🙂
The boys have beds in our office and bedroom. They have the couch and we get the loveseat in the living room. LOL! Yes, they are royalty and we are their servants. I think Cricket has staked claim to the dog pile bed. ☺
Happy Easter!
Happy Easter

Cricket looks beyond adorable on her bed throne 🙂
The pups have their dog beds & crate pads, but are also allowed on the couches and bed (all are lined with doggie blankets).
Crickett sure looks comfortable on all those dog beds! We sometimes use our beds, and sometimes we just laying wherever. We’re cats…and that’s how we roll. 😉 Happy Easter!
Cricket is so cute! She certainly does remind me of the Princess and the Pea! 😀 We have a bunch of dog beds. Zoe prefers to sleep in her crate at night but during the day the dogs can literally be found anywhere. 😀
That photo is too funny! Dakota isn’t a fan of dog beds, nearly all of his have gone to Cody (of course)…except for one….I think the name is godog or something (can’t remember and am too lazy to get up and look at it lol), that one he likes because it is under the coffee table (his makeshift crate, since he hasn’t wanted anything to do with his crate since he was 2 yrs old)……….he is allowed on …but NEVER chooses to sleep on the furniture. I have no clue as to why! He prefers sleeping on the floor (crazy dog), I am thinking his tons of fur probably acts as a built-in mattress lol
Sheba is often seen lying on the floor, no bed, just the cold hard floor. It probably is a fur thing…not just a built in mattress – LOL – but a cooler place for them too!
Good find Cricket I would have been able to resist either! And yes you have a LOT of dog beds so maybe the momz will be able to keep them doubled or tripled up! Love Dolly
Funny, I have a similar picture of Hailey this week, on a pile of beds because the cleaner came! They prefer furniture but we do have like 7 or so beds kicking around! Hope the unpacking is going well.
My dogs know nothing of human furniture. It’s “fur” to them.
you can open a dog howl-tel with all that beds… I would like to be your guest :o) Happy Easter to you :o)
We’d love to have you as our first guest, Easy, and you would definitely be treated like royalty! 🙂
Aside from Bailie sleeping in bed, we aren’t allowed on the furniture, so we sleep in our beds a lot. We have quite a few to choose from around the house too.
Sammy prefers the floor (carpeted) or a fleece blanket on the floor to human furniture OR his cat beds! He has trouble hopping up and down off things so the floor is an easy option. He’s quite happy with that though. Your crew has a variety of snuggly spots to enjoy!
Hugs, Sammy
The girls sometimes have trouble jumping, especially after a “hard day” of playing. So I think having the beds as an option definitely works for them when they don’t have the energy to jump up onto the furniture!
