Things are exactly as crazy as I expected them to be as I prepare to open my new shop. I’m loving every minute of it! I don’t forget to take care of myself though, I’ll take a break when I can. Actually, we all take care of each other in our farm family. Hubby is a very early riser, so on Sunday morning he brought me a cup of coffee while I was still relaxing in bed. Luke wanted to help too, so he brought a toy to share with me!
That’s more special than you might think. Bringing toys to bed on the weekend when I was taking my time rising was a ritual our angel girls, Cricket and Sheba, started many years ago. As they got older and not as well, they didn’t do it much, and though Luke had joined them in that fun, he didn’t often do it on his own. It always makes me smile when he does.
I also wanted to give you a quick report our hen, Martha. All of your well wishes are working and she is still coming along! She is finally eating and drinking well. She seems much happier that she can now do it on her own. It took her a while before she could finally start standing again, and she’s still wobbly at times.
She’ll be separated from the rest of the flock until she’s no longer weak, but you can see in the photo that she gets to spend time outside with them. I think that makes her feel less lonely and better as well.
We’ll give you a full update on it all when things settle down! We have many stories to tell, there’s been lots going on around the farm, and I hope to show you my shop as well, when it’s finally all put together. 🙂

I see Charlie has taken to guarding Martha. I love that Luke keeps up the tradition. When Bear was younger, I’d wake up to a bed full of all the toys he carried in and dropped on the bed. The more toys I found, the more trouble I was in for making him wait!
Oh, maybe Luke is trying to get me to get out of bed and play then? 🙂
Charlie was not too happy about us having charge of Martha!
Love this!! Your wonderful hubby and Lukey giving you special morning treats, so sweet! And the good update on Martha, yay!
Awe dat are so sweet of Luke. We are so glad to hear Martha is doing well and opening your shop is going well 🙂
xoxo,
Matt & Matilda

Best wishes for all the doings of getting your shop open.
I love that everyone took care of you that morning. Coffee and a toy – you are a lucky woman. And, YAY, Martha. Keep up the good work.
Continued good luck with the shop!
It’s the simple things, right? ♥
Glad Martha is feeling better.
She’s a fighter!! ♥
Between the hubby and Luke…you’re being well taken care of! Sending special thoughts and purrs for your store opening.

I was hoping to give more, but it’s been a bit crazy! It’s calming down now though, so hopefully I can catch you up more soon!

Glad to hear Martha is improving and feeling better every day! And glad to hear that YOU are taking breaks and caring for yourself.
I feel like I’m too old to risk overdoing things. LOL!
There’s my handsome, Luke. It’s always a treat to see him. I know he brings you much joy. He brings me joy as well.
Great news on Martha. You’re so thoughtful.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Smooches to Mr. Luke. ♥
It was tough deciding what to do with Martha, she was pretty beat up and we didn’t know what was best. We just went with our hearts and guts, and since she is now back with the flock, I think we made the right decision! 🙂
Yes, I don’t know what I would do without my loving boy, he is the best. ♥
big hugs to martha and we wish wish wish you lots of success and joy with your new shop…
Thank you so much! ♥
I think Luke is playing with the same toy I have on our blog today! Glad the chicken is doing better, and your store is coming along.
That was the same toy! Luke has two of those, but they both are pretty ratty. However, I can’t throw them away because he still likes them too much! They have almost no stuffing left, but that doesn’t seem to bother him. 🙂
We are so happy to hear that Martha is coming along. Bless you, Luke. You are a caring boy!
He is such a sweet and thoughtful boy! ♥
