I feel like a bad cat Mom, having shared the dogs’ Christmas and New Year’s, but nothing about Samantha. Regular readers of this blog probably know that Sam is fussy, picky, finicky, particular about what she likes and doesn’t like. That makes buying gifts for her difficult, and usually it’s her cousin Nina and/or our local humane society that makes out when we have to pass everything she doesn’t like on. Sam didn’t feel neglected on Christmas day – she mostly slept all day anyway, and didn’t even show up until much later in the day to get her special Christmas treats (her favorite Greenies).
But before Christmas this year, I had entered a giveaway on a friend’s blog, Stunning Keisha, for a Cat Claws subscription box, and we won! The box showed up a few days before Christmas, and I didn’t even make Sam wait to open it like I made the dogs wait for their party box. See, she does sometimes get special treatment!

Of course I was skeptical about whether Sam would have any interest in anything in this box, but I was surprisingly wrong – she loves everything in it! I had barely opened up the box when she hopped in the Imperial Cat box and promptly made herself comfortable. I hadn’t even gotten a chance to put the scratcher in it (which is replaceable as well)! My sister was delighted to see Sam sleeping in there when she came over to feed the animals when we were gone out of town to a family holiday party.
Eventually I had to move it off the kitchen counter, and I put it on top of the dog crate in the living room. I was very surprised to see Sam sleeping in it the very next morning! I instructed my hubby to please take a photo of her because she got out every time I grabbed the camera (which he did).

She also played with both toys – she especially liked the peppermint stripe catnip toy (not caught on camera though). There were two of those balls, and we shared one with Cousin Nina as a thank you for all the help she’s given us on the blog this year.
I also wondered if our particular girl would like those shrimp treats. Well, “she likes it, hey Mikey!” (let me know if you get that reference). She not only likes them, she was nuts for them. So, apparently the people who put together the Cat Claws boxes are way better at guessing what my cat will like than I am. At least now I know what to get her for her next birthday!

There was also a nice gift in there for me. I remember my mother always having these calendar towels when I was a kid, so I was delighted to have this, and it’s now hanging on my office door. So both Sam and I send out a huge thank you to C.K. for this great box!
Since Sam is feeling so cheerful about all of her new stuff, she even deigned to take a selfie for us so we can join the Sunday Selfie blog hop. She won’t look at the camera, but you know, we take what we can get with her!

Thank you to The Cat on My Head for hosting the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. Please visit other blogs through the links below!
What a cool box and I think she likes it! That calendar is way cool!
That is so cool! I always feel like I’ve won the lottery when I can find something my picky cat (Maggie) actually enjoys.

Nestle is just like Sam, very fussy. I know how happy we are when we find something she likes. The box sounds great since it was a hit with Sam!
That’s a pawsome selfie, HRH 😀 Pawkisses 🙂 <3
Whoohoo! We’re so glad Sam liked everything. And that’s a great selfie she did.
Lovely post! I know I got to see Sam in the box both when it was on the counter, and when in the living room-she does apparently love it! So nice to hear about all the other great stuff that she liked too, treats and catnip toys, yay! And Nina thanks cousin Samantha for sharing with her, the ball is so fun with a mousie inside-thank you! And last but not least, what an adorable calendar, and indeed, brings back memories of all the ones we used to see Mom, and probably Grammies, display!
Wow, you have no idea how glad I am that I came across this post. I have been looking for something to get my mother for her birthday in a few weeks. She has a cat that she adores, so generally it’s a safe play to get her something cat-related. That Cat Claws subscription box looks perfect. Thank you so much!
Glad to be of help!!
Awe! Sam is so cute! That’s awesome she enjoyed her Christmas gifts! 😀
So glad Sam enjoyed her Christmas surprise!!!
That is a great selfie and a lovely gift from CK!
How fun Sam got her own box of treats!! We had a cat a long time ago. Carmel was her name and she was a good kitty.
Sam! So glad to hear that you enjoyed the holidays too not just the dogs. Mom intentionally didn’t include our cat Rhette since he just sleeps a lot. Love Dolly
That’s pretty much all that Sam does too…sleep and eat!
I’m so excited that you found something to make Sam purr! She does look very content in her new scratch box. My cats were never finicky with the exception of Miss Gitty who would only eat a french fry if it was dipped in catsup. (I know that isn’t healthy but we were both young and didn’t know better! MOL)
That is too funny! Our cat Don Juan used to LOVE popcorn! He’d line right up with the dogs to get some. I just finished reading The Returns so it’s funny that you mentioned Miss Gitty! I really, really enjoyed the book.
She is a beautiful cat
Beautiful selfie!
Happy New Year 🙂

Thank you, and Happy New Year to you too! ♥
So glad that Sam got such a great gift from CK! Great selfie too 🙂
Ya know, I know exactly what you mean. I created a blog for the huskies, and I do share my kitties every now and then, but I feel bad that my sibes get most of the attention. I just find it much easier to blog about the dogs, AND they are MUCH easier to photograph!!!! LOL!

She’s beautiful!
Fabulous selfie Sam
Happy Sunday Selfies!!

Those look like some very nice treats. Enjoy.
That is great that Sam enjoyed everything. Nice selfie.
That’s a wonderful selfie Sam! We’re glad you liked the subscription box. We got one too and the goodies were popular here too. Hey, my Dad says he knows Mikey!
At least I’m not the only one showing my age around here. 😉
I think Sam did a mighty fine job of selfies today……in fact, that one shot of her in the scratcher box, belly up, is a grand selfie too! Happy she had a good holiday – we all really made out GREAT this year – guess Santa knew that!
Hugs, Sammy
“Give it to Mikey!” I used to love those silly Life cereal commercials! They made me laugh. Those were the days when Madison Avenue came up with some really clever, attention-getting, fun-to-watch, TV ads on a regular basis, and replaced old ones with even better ones. Now I just mute the sound or walk away or both.
I’m happy for Sam that she likes her new treats and toys! Maybe she’ll let you take more pictures of her now as a reward for giving her the box? Lol.
We’ll see about that…but I don’t have my hopes up too high that she’ll be any more cooperative now!
I looked up online about the Mikey commercials to be sure I was quoting it right. Wikipedia said that commercial ran for 12 years – that must be some kind of record. I can’t imagine many commercials these days that could last for that long!
That is awesome! I’m sure that box is purrfect for kitties! How nice she got such a nice gift full of food and fun too!
