Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. – Unknown
I’d be the last one to try to deny the fact that I might be a little crazy! Case in point: Almost every year before Memorial Day and/or the 4th of July, I try to get Luke to carry a flag around so I can get some photos for social media or a blog post. I have – or had – a collection of those inexpensive flags you can use for decorating – small flags on a stick.

Giving a dog who likes to chew things a flag on a stick to carry around is not a good idea, and yet I keep doing it year after year – with, you guessed it – the same results!

But hey, they made for some perfect photos for this month’s Pet Photo Fails blog hop, and just before the 4th of July.

We do usually end up with a couple of keepers anyway, I was able to share a couple of the shots on social media around Memorial Day, and may even have one more decent one for the 4th.

The good news – for me – in all this? That was the last of those flags, he has now chewed every stick. Now I don’t have to pretend to myself over the next year that I’m going to train Luke to “hold” things, at least not things on a stick. We can stick to our flag bandanas and have Luke sit looking handsome, and call that good. 🙂

Oh, and just so you know? Luke did respect the flag itself – he never tried to chew on that!
Thank you to our friends at The Cuddlywumps Cat Chronicles for hosting this fun blog hop! Please visit other blogs through the links below for more #PetPhotoFails.
Awesome photos! Gambler does the same thing when he gets a stick and he is trained to hold birds and not munch them.
That’s funny, and so great that he knows the difference between the two things! 🙂
BOL dat would definitely be me if Mama gave me a flag on a stick…No stick is safe 😉
xoxo,
Matt (& Matilda)
You boys!!! 🙂
xxoo
Neither of the boys will hold anything in their mouth. Those are perfect photo fails. Hahahaha!
Our girls wouldn’t do it either, so at least Luke tried….and succeeded in making everyone laugh (maybe he knows better than I do what works? LOL)
Somtimes our photo fails are the most memorable LOL!
These turned out to be keepers after all!
Like Monika, I’m not sure I’d call those “fails” either. They are great captures of some of Luke’s facial expressions and they make for some fun memories to be sure!
Thank you, Sue! He definitely had some fun with it, even if it wasn’t what I originally planned!
I think they are HILARIOUS!
We like to make people smile or laugh, so I guess these were a success after all!
I know that our R would do exactly the same thing. Shyla would want to do the same thing but would hold herself back… just because she’s a timid soul. I like your strategy of the bandana!!!!
I love this series of photos. They are hardly “fails”!
Thank you! I guess they did turn out to be fun, even if that wasn’t the original plan!
LOL! Bailie did it on her own, but then when the camera arrived she refused. It took a few tries, but she did eventually hold it for photos. Never thought about her crunching it…boys…always so rough!
Yup, you’re right about that! 🙂
In that last shot … you almost look like you’re off to bury your treasure, Luke!
Haha, I think you’re right about that!!
We guess that’s what happens when you give a dog a stick. 😉
I know…what was I thinking? LOL
Hey, sometimes those ‘failed’ photos make for the best posts.
These actually did work out pretty well!
HAH! These were fun! I bet I see some new flags in your’s and Luke’s future. MOL! If you ‘shop out the flags, those are some great expressions.
That’s a good point! And you are probably right, I won’t be able to resist trying it again. LOL
You are such a fun character Luke!
He does like to entertain!
Lol..These are great.
Thank you, Mary!
Not sure I’d call those fails…but they sure were hilarious! Have a happy weekend.
They were fun shots, weren’t they? Only a fail for my original plans for them I guess! 🙂
Ha ha! Chomp! A good stick is just too tempting, isn’t it, Luke? But from my perspective, you got some perfect photos out of it. Thanks for joining Pet Photo Fails! 🙂
I love this hop…as soon as I saw those photos I knew what I’d be doing with them! 🙂
