We’ve had fun sharing some “Beagle in the Sun” posts – Cricket enjoying the sun in the dining room over the winter, and then Cricket lying out in the sun in the first warm days of spring. We’ve had some unusually warm days this late spring, so Cricket has gotten a little overheated lying in the sun!

Note that she has a water dish right next to her! Now Cricket is known for lying in front on the woodstove during the winter to the point where she is panting, so is she smart enough to just move out of the sun here?

She may not be a trick master like her brother Luke, but the beagle does have a brain!

He lasts a lot longer in the sun than me because I’m black, but I know how good it feels Cricket! Love Dolly
I laugh at Honey when she lies out in the sun panting. I’ll need to share Cricket’s example so she comes in to cool down.
Bentley suns himself every afternoon during the summer. He will be so hot when he comes back inside! LOL! Must be a hound dog thing! LOL!
You need one of those cool matts cricket. Nellie will lay in the sun and pant pant pant and not move, hello get up and get in the shade. Dogs are funny.
Smart doggie! You know when it’s time to come in out of the sun!

Barley hates to lounge outside, but my parents have an awesome deck with a covered section, so when we visit, I often sit out there with my dad and watch a ball game. Barley refuses to nap under the cover where it’s shady, cool, and there’s a ceiling fan–instead she lounges in the sun and then acts like I’ve mistreated her by insisting she be out in the heat! At least Cricket looks happy about being warm!
Cute! My sister’s beag used to love to roast in the sun too. Bailey loved it too, but she didn’t overdo it. (That’s so funny that she likes to go in the pool! And thanks for educacting us as to what’s inside a Wubba! We would never know with Rita!). 🙂
We’ve had some super hot days here too! Sherman and Leroy are ready for the snow again!
LOL sometimes I wonder why they lay in the sun when it is so warm out. I think it is an older dog thing. I notice Thunder doing it more an more.
Cricket sure was enjoying the sunshine. She may have needed a pair of sunglasses!
Ha! Smart beagle! We like to lay in the shade too!
Mr. N loves sunning himself and will move from sunny patch to sunny patch.
We have been loving this sunny weather too! Got the boat out for the first time this year!!! Woohoo!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Dogs are heat seeking missiles. My dogs always find the warmest places in the house or yard and seldom get too warm.
Cricket sure looks like she’s enjoying the warm, sunny spot. Haley will go outside and lay in the sun until she’s overheated, then she comes inside and plants herself on the AC vent.
It doesn’t take much for going from winter cold to too hot for our dogs. My guys are already complaining about the heat.
Callie & Shadow can take only so much of this upstate South Carolina sun before moving into the shade; but Ducky is like Cricket – she LOVES to sunbathe. And when she’s at daycare with her boyfriend, Casper, they spend lunchtime sunbathing together. <3 <3
Hi Y’all!
Smart girl! It’s already summer here in the southeast. It’s in the 90’s. Cool mornings dawn in the mid 70’s and by dark it’s still in the 80’s. I go to the door just like Cricket after an easy walk, or a couple tosses of a bumper or ball. It’s just TOO HOT!
Y’all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Reminds me of Harley – I spent theater morning on Saturday, setting up the deck with the lawn furniture, umbrella, dragged out the pool, cleaned that off, filled it with water, got the pool toys, and as soon as Doodle Dad came through the sliding screen door, in he zipped for some good ole A/C. I could only laugh. Jax appreciated my efforts – he played outside with me all day long!
It’s great to see their smile and the closed eyes… can you send some of your sun to me please, Cricket?
Mity was always one for lying in the sun until you reminded him he was too hot! But now he is getting a little older he isn’t quite as much of a sun worshiper!
that smile is just wonderful!
Hahaah too cute ..the boys do the same..big buckets of water everywhere and they bake outside in summer..now it is cool and the pair of them as i type are right in front of the wood heater..eyeballs drying out as i type..panting..Doc is the best..gets up panting..takes four steps and flops on the floor..it really is pathetic 🙂 bless em..love these shots 🙂 hugs and loves Bev xx
Same thing happens here sometimes. The sun is so, so warm, but you need a sun break. Stay cool!
That’s pretty cute. Ruby doesn’t like the sun much. She always looks for a shady spot.
I’m just like her. I love to lie in the sun, and I lie there until I can’t take it anymore, panting like crazy, and then I move to the shade but go back to the sun after a bit.
