The ideas seem so good in my head when I’m planning a sponsored post. I wanted to illustrate our recent post “Want the Best Dressed Dog in Town? Dog’s Best Trend Review & Giveaway”, with the dogs walking around our yard and neighborhood showing off their stylish new scarves. (BTW, visit that post – click on the title – if you haven’t yet, it’s a great giveaway and open through Wednesday!).
Putting the idea into action rarely goes as planned. I forget that I have two dogs that are scent hounds or partly scent hounds. Noses to the ground do not make for good photos for showing off scarves.

After walking for a bit, I can get Luke to focus, and he’ll also very willingly pose. The girls, however, have their own ideas and standing or sitting still does not fit in to their plans.

I did finally get cooperation from Sheba, but my photo of Cricket ended up being one of her inside the house lying on her bed. I got a few good walking shots, but the scarves just didn’t show well in any of them – they were on the wrong side most of the time. Getting them to sit still and in a position where you could see the scarf well was challenging indeed! If I stopped to straighten out the scarf, that would just get them moving again.

I ended up getting what I needed, in fact I was thrilled with some of our photos (visit the post to see the keepers). Plus it made our walks that day a little different anyway! But don’t let anyone ever tell you that being a pet blogger is an easy job, especially when your models are divas. ๐
Coming on Thursday, don’t miss it!
Thank you to The Lazy Pit Bull for hosting the Pet Blogger Bloopers Round-up! Please visit other blogs through the links below for more blooper fun!

OMG! I’m sorry I’m late on this, and sorry I have to laugh; but if I don’t laugh, my teeth will explode! Getting pix like that of Ducky would be more like impossible than just challenging. If I don’t already have the phone camera ready to snap a perfect shot of her, I just don’t get one, period. This little -compared to her sister – dog is FAST and if she doesn’t want me to take a picture, it just doesn’t happen. A blooper? Sometimes. But usually not even that much. Being a pet blogger is nowhere close to easy, even when you don’t have sponsored posts to publish.
So true, Sue! How often do we try to capture some special moment on the camera, only to have them end it as soon as we pick the phone or camera up? I’ve gotten to where I have to try to sneak around quietly, or move slowly so maybe they don’t notice! ๐
I can relate. I often have good intentions that do not work out…lol.
Did you see my bloopers? My mom has it way worse and there’s only one of me! You wouldn’t think it’d be so hard taking a picture of a dog wearing a scarf would you? Love Dolly
You wouldn’t think! I did see your bloopers. It only takes one diva to make photo shoots difficult, Dolly, and you definitely give my girls a run for their money. ๐
LOL! I think that your pups are funny characters!!! It may not affect you – but those scarves would be great for walks during hunting season!
Yes, it does affect us, and you are so right! We’ll definitely be keeping them on for when we’re out in the woods (and thanks for the reminder too).
Yes, they are definitely characters alright. ๐
“We have important stuff we need to do, Mom! And modeling scarves are not it!” ๐
Too true! There are things to be sniffed, and toys to be played with….. ๐
I have so many blooper photos! Ours usually involve all the fur being in front of Ruby’s eyes. I will comb it out of her eyes, but then by the time I have the camera ready she shakes her head and it is all back in front of her eyes again. It’s an ongoing battle – even when her fur is trimmed somehow she always manages to shake her fur so it hides her eyes.
“Could you just stand still for one minute?” is often muttered by me…LOL.
Hahaha! I always have visions of grandeur and Skipper reminds me that we have Bentley & Pierre as models. One sniffs everything and the other chases anything that moves when we do an outdoors photo shoot.
We know all about how difficult it is to get us to cooperate for photo shoots. We rarely cooperate. Glad you got some good ones, though.
I think W.C. Fields said never work with animals or kids. ๐ Great blooper pictures though.
Thank you, Edie! I’d say W.C. Fields was definitely right. Not that that will stop us from trying! ๐
You are a natural model!
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Lol…Dogs a re too funny. Sometimes i get these guys to look at the camera, sometimes not. FYI…Your emails of new blog posts are landing in my mail spam box. I have marked them not spam several times, but they still go there. I don’t know if there is anything you can do though.
Thanks for letting me know about the email issue, Mary. I’m not sure what’s going on, but it’s on my “to do” list to try to figure out if I can fix it (as far as I know it’s only a gmail issue)! There’s just not enough hours in the day for everything!
I like youยดr photos very much… they show that the models really enjoy their new scarfves… and that they are made for daily use… not just for the catwalk :O)
