It’s been over a month since we’ve done a FitDog Friday post! I think I can say that February was one of the worst months this winter. We tried to get outside every day, but often it was for a few minutes only due to the frigid, below zero temperatures. We kept busy inside with training and nose work games for fun, but being outside is what we really want to do.
We are finally starting to see some days with a bit warmer temps (15-20 degrees is warmer!), where we could spend more time outside and I felt like bringing my camera with me. Here’s some of the fun the crew had last Sunday:
Luke loves to steal the ball and take it up onto the deck and chew on it, torturing his sisters. Our deck is about 8 feet high, but can you see where Cricket is?
Here’s the view from the other side:
Sheba got her turns with the ball(s) too! She likes to strut when she has it!
Below, the snow is flying, and Cricket almost disappears! The snow is actually finally packing down now, so it’s a bit easier for the dogs to run on there in most places.
Luke gets some air…..
….he and Cricket fight over the ball….
….and he tortures his sisters some more, by once again not giving the ball up! Cricket does everything she can to get it out of his mouth.
They had a great time and got lots of exercise. Hopefully there will be much more of this while the snow lasts!

It looks like they had a blast! Our snow is melting. We have had 50’s the last couple of days. I think it will take time for the piles and our packed down backyard.
They sure did! We’ve had a couple of above freezing days, and lots of sunshine, so ours is melting too. But it still has a ways to go!
Our snow is just starting to melt – Yippee….
Yay! Ours is going to go very slowly, and there’s a lot to go!
I’m glad you got some “warmer” weather 😉 Having K9 siblings to play with is just pawsome!
We are lucky to have our own little “dog park” here. 🙂
Whoo-hoo, today is above 40 degrees!
Love the photos! Great post. Glad you are back. We had a horrible cold February and March here in Toronto. I escaped but poor Kilo the Rescue Pug has hated it. S
Thank you! I think it might be safe to say we’re through the worst of it. Not that we won’t see a few more very cold days, and probably some snow storms, but at least if it’s not EVERY day of frigid temps and/or snow, we should be able to get through it!
I’m glad your crew got to have some fun outside for more than a few minutes! I know how you feel with the frigid temps and I know our boys were getting a bit restless!
Everyone has been much happier this last week since we’ve been able to get out more. We still had some pretty cold days but the warmer ones have made up for them.
We enjoyed our one day blizzard! You have tons of the cold stuff!
Aw….one day….we can only imagine! Luckily the dogs really love it, so that makes it more enjoyable for us too.
They sure are having fun in the snow. 🙂
Yes, they are!! 🙂
The dogs all look happy to be out. Were they worn out afterwards?
Oh yes, they napped most of the afternoon, and were still pretty quiet the next morning!
Hi Y’all!
Occasionally the Humans have commitments that keep us in the High Country when we want to be in the Low Country. We’ve been caught in snow storms, once 2 feet fell upon us. My Human doesn’t do cold or snow. I’m not too found of it myself. But I’ve never seen snow like y’all have in those photos!
Y’all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Believe it or not, we have less snow than others in New England have! We are actually northwest of Boston, and they’ve gotten way more snow than we have. Much more, and we would have had to shovel the pen along the fence. Luckily most of the snow was light and fluffy though, so the dogs couldn’t launch off it. One winter Sheba actually did jump the fence, and I’m sure Luke could do it too.
Oh, these are great pics, Jan, they are all so cute and having so much fun, it’s awesome!!
Thanks, Lynn!!
It looks like everyone had a ton of fun! It is much nicer to be able to be outside for more than 5 minutes at a time. I love the picture with Luke and Sheba’s tails together–it looks like they’re making a heart!
It is….the fresh air just makes all of us feel better! You and Easy are so observant about the heart….I didn’t even see that!
Haha…if that snowbank was just a little higher, Cricket could jump up to the deck and get that ball!
You are so right! She’s wishing we got all the snow that Boston got!
Agreed! February has been horrid this winter! WAH!
We started to get a little bit warmer temps as well but the last two days is right back to FREEZING cold!!
I love these photos of your pack playing in the snow though, nice!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Thanks, Jenna! I hope your weather is moderating now too? We did get a few more days of very cold, but this weekend has been better and the coming week is looking decent. We may even get above freezing!
Yeah you finally got out! The dogs look happy, Nellie will steal stuff and hoard it somewhere’s and watch everyone. Cricket your so damn cute!
Our Cricket is quite the little character! 🙂 We usually have more than one ball in play, because often Luke won’t give it up for a while!
what a fabulous fit-friday, I specially love photo number 4,their tails look like a heart together, what a great moment you caught with your cam!
I hadn’t even noticed that, thanks so much for pointing it out! The camera often sees things that I don’t!
Lots of fun and exercise there. Bailie and I like to chase our cousin Lena when she plays fetch with the tennis ball. She wants the ball and we want to chase, so it works out well for us all! It is a good workout when she is here visiting. Nice to have you all back at FitDog Friday!
We are so glad to be back! It’s great when everyone gets lots of exercise, even when you all have different versions of playing. Often when we’re playing fetch, Cricket is the only one always chasing the ball, Sheba and Luke will be off on the side playing bitey-face, or chasing each other too.
